Why a Wii over a Wii U then Drunka?

As SM64 (both versions, I think) is on the Wii U VC, SMG & SMG2 are Backwards Compatible, OoT & MM are on the Wii U VC, you have WWHD & TPHD and SS is backwards compatible.

Which only leaves Sunshine out but you would get 3D World instead.

If you went Wii U you would have the retail library of the Wii U, all the retail Wii games, Wii U & Wii VC (Due to Wii mode on Wii U), eShop & Wiiware (Due to Wii Mode on Wii U) games.

I'm not sure if the online still works for the VC & Wiiware on Wii though but let say it does that adds to the Wii U's portfolio along with online play which the Wii doesn't have any more.

Only benefit I can see with going Wii over Wii U is having the library of Nintendo's best system the GameCube instead of Wii U's library of games, which is a massive benefit.

What Drunka says about SMG hold sort true to me but with series like MGS, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy etc from the series thread Balla made, most of mine are games that started or I first played on the PS1 and even though I have a tiny PS1 collection and never really plan to back to it but I don't think I could be in a world without it as it was my second console after the Mega Drive but the first I really played more properly also my with my uncle being serious ill it reminds me of him as well.

That the memories of playing Resident Evil 2 with him are really important that a PS1 is to me and knowing if I had to only pick one system and having a PS3 would still get me all of those, is a real plus for me.

On a Wii I could play SM64, SMS, SMG and SMG2, which is a pretty unbeatable run of games, plus OoT, MM, WW, TP and SS. Plus, I could still have some fairly decent multiplayer sessions, which is a big part of my social life.

Agree with this. The Wii is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time. It has the definitive versions of Resident Evil 4 and Pikmin 2, two of my favourite games. The Super Mario Galaxy titles. Xenoblade Chronicles. The ability to play all Gamecube games. The downloadable VC titles like Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid. All the main console Zelda titles. A great selection of lightgun games. Multiplayer titles such as Wii Sports and Boom Blox. It's just lacking a version of PES although I've never played the Wii versions - are they essentially PS2 ports? I could live with that.

Hmmm... I head what you're all saying, but... I might go with the N64. I know, as all y'all said, the Wii gives you access to GameCube games and Virtual Console titles, but I'm a bit fed up with holding the Wiimote and nunchuck. I know, I know, there's the door and all that.

Another Wii person here. As has been mentioned, all the Wii games, all the GameCube games, and all the VC games must make a massive amount of titles to plough through (especially when, as a long-term Nintendo fan, I could legitimately play Mega Drive, Master System and TurboGrafx games (note: I think the C64 games have now been taken down)). There's also all the WiiWare out there, too.

The GC had a couple of great games that don't have much replay value. TTYD and LoZTP, for example.

Yeah but it has like 500 games and how long are likes of TTYD, the Cube would keep you going for ages.

I don't like the Wii but if Zero's Question was the same but had to be a Nintendo system, then the Wii would be the system due to Cube even though I can make a valid argument for the Wii U but the Cube library is vastly superior to the Wii U 's.

You pretty much figured it out!

To be fair, there are great Wii U games too: Bayonettas and so on, but Cube just cinches it. I reckon BotW will be the game that flips that one around.

I'll plonk for the PS3. That's maybe an unusual choice, but it's a console that I'm mostly unfamiliar with. Folk bang on about how good some of the PS3's exclusives are - I can genuinely say that I've not played any of them. If I could only use one console for the rest of my days, it might as well be one that would be more-or-less brand new to me. I've already played and completed many of the games on the consoles that everybody else is picking - I'm going for a change.

Other than the PS4, which would be a silly choice this early in the generation, there isn't really a console I'm super interested in trying that I haven't already tried.

Zero never clarified if you would still get games coming to a console, if you did then a PS4 or ONE would be a good choice.
