| Hi all,
Stealing from the Retro Moments topic elsewhere, the subject of older films (i.e. those pre-dating the rise of video games) being made into games; famous "The"s like Great Escape, Godfather and Italian Job were brought up as examples of that phenomenon. But what else should be? |

| Sweet topic idea.
---
None of these films pre date games but I still think they'd be fun.
The Silence of the lambs - Telltale-esque adventure game where you play as Clarice Starling.
The Big Lebowski - You'll play The Dude what more do you want?

| Hmm, I have a problem here. I love older movies, but the older movies I love are monster films and samurai pictures. Kurosawa's oeuvre, the classics of Ray Harryhausen, King Kong and Godzilla. Monsters and samurai are hardly underrepresented in videogames.
I suppose what would be nice would be a game full of beasties that are actually designed and animated to resemble classic puppets and stop motion. That would be a cool aesthetic, even if it was a generic brawler or shooter. |

| Here's a belter for youse: Star Wars.
But really, for films that predate "the rise of video games" (which started with Hogs of War), I've got to say BASEketball.
"Vajoyna!"

| Great idea and always good to see other threads inspire new ones but shouldn't this be general gaming?
I don't know much about films before 1947 the first video game and I don't think that's what you meant but more on the lines of The Godfather which came out in 1972 then got a game (it did have one in 1991 as well) in 2006 which was 34 years later.
That I'm thinking seeing it's not a setting used often what about a Magnificent Seven game, where you got to go recruit the other 6 members before a final sort of horde like mission.
Could also have 7 player CO-OP and a separate horde mode with different locations from all the films in the series. |

| Alright mate, hold yer horses! Jeez! Er, um. Now I realise that I haven't seen all that many old films. Pilotwings-style game starring Porco Rosso, perhaps? I'm bad at this. |

| Un chien andalou as a WarioWare style minigame compilation all revolving around grotesque eyeball cutting scenes. (genuine not for the faint of heart warning, boyos) |

| Actually, you know what? Every single old-time noire-style detective game, turned into something akin to Hotel Dusk.
Alternatively a Wallace and Gromit adventure game would be pretty fun. |

| You know what - this should've been in the General Gaming discussion. Honestly, after the 3DS topic these things all blur into each other!
There are some great ideas here. I'm not sure what my own idea was. Oh
Disney's Robin Hood, but as more of a Far Cry-style story that's about gradually chipping away at King John, stealing from the rich, giving to the poor and all that. |

| Ooh, actually, that Robin Hood idea sounds great! Manage your forest, intercept carriages full of gems, stop evil schemes when they pop up, be really good with a bow. |

| Plus the American football minigame! Although that should probably be rugby, to stop my dad getting annoyed. Although they didn't have rugby back then either. |

I was going to make an obvious joke about the Western world's rulers, but frankly it's all too depressing. Insert your own. |

| I've often thought it would be a good idea to go into real-life Robin Hoodery. |
