What In Gaming Are You Excited For? (Going Into Hyperdrive)

...God f**king damn it. Going to have to pay attention to this now.

Looking ahead to 2025 which we do have the award for most anticipated (maybe this will inspire you), but I won't be sharing any individual lists after it's all done, maybe you will want to like I'm now doing here, or you check out my YT video of my Top 10 Overall.

Nintendo

Switch 2. Not a lot for Nintendo at the moment which has to be due to the new console and with it, I'll have the backwards compatible option for the two games below and Zelda EoW.

Metroid Prime 4. If it wasn't for the Switch with Dread, Fusion and Prime Remaster, this wouldn't even be here.

Pokémon Legends Z-A. It's Pokémon.

Xbox

Xbox is a weird one as it seems all games will be coming elsewhere which at least one of them I plan to buy on PS5 day one and the others if no PS5 version announced within a good timeframe, then just play on PC Games Pass.

Avowed. Looking forward to this one in Feb.

Fable. I can see this slipping into 2026 especially as Xbox has two other RPG's.

Outer Worlds 2. I loved the first and this is the game I plan to buy on PS5 day one.

South of Midnight. Love seeing games like this, as it is a tad different from the normal output.

PlayStation

Not a whole lot is known, but is a few bigger hitters that I will be playing.

Death Stranding 2, Kojima!

Ghost of Yotei. Thought the first Ghost game was great, so I'm happy to play more of that.

Lost Soul Aside. Announced ages ages ago this Final Fantasy XV (shows how long it has been in development) x Devil May Cry x Souls thingy out of China.

Midnight Walk. From what was the Lost in Random Team, this weird looking title.

2XKO. Riot seem to make good games, can they do it for a fighter?

Atelier Yumia. Tad like Dynasty Warriors Origins, seems this has a bit more budget put into and a new lead character, making this a JRPG I want to try.

Elden Ring Nightreign. Looking forward to some COOP sessions and Jay carrying me, not Andy.

Expedition 33. Weird AA realistic French made JRPG with turn based combat.

MGS Delta Snake Eater. Till I played Silent Hill 2 Remake, I had no faith in this, but now I do along with the delay out of 2024 to 2025 hopefully means it turns out good.

Mixtape. Artful Escape was great, so let's hope this is just as good.

Monster Hunter Wilds. This is my most anticipated game of 2025.

Split Fiction. Craig and I are both looking forward to this, and now both on PS5 along with same hours often in work we might be able to do this.

Trails in the Sky 1st. Want to get into the series, and what better way than a remake of the first game.

Virtua Fighter. VF is back, though if it lacks SP mode, that will put me off.

I've just about managed to scrape ten things up I'm looking forward to next year, although many of them are unknown quantities to varying degrees, two of them are DLC, and the last two are a bit .  Still though, I'm surprised to have got to ten! (None of which I'll talk about here. Votes innit.)

One of them isn't Trails in the Sky.  I'm enjoying Daybreak well enough but I can't forget reaching the end of From Zero and meeting the main characters from Sky, and them being absolute wallopers.  I'm sure they're better with context but I'm not certain I can be bothered to find out how much.

Now marks the first time since the Wii U days that I’ve been not excited for anything known to be imminent in gaming. There’s nothing on the horizon for any of the consoles I own that I’m eagerly awaiting, and there’s nothing on masofdas’ list that I’m all that into. I guess I could say that I’m half-excited about the Analogue 3D. It’ll no doubt be the best way for me to play my N64 collection on a modern display, but on the other hand Switch Online has so many of the system’s best games included with its subscription. I’ve played all my favourite N64 games to death too, and the ones I was less familiar with I mopped up during the COVID lockdowns.
 
With all the leaks that are happening, the formal reveal of the Switch 2 really needs to take place sooner rather than later. Hopefully that’ll come alongside a release date – I’m guessing May or June, to be well out of the way of Grand Theft Auto VI.
