You'll know it by the title of the thread, but here is the LIVE and IN LIVING COLOUR reveal of the next high score challenge game.

Oof, this one's going to be painful. I reckon anyone who has the perseverance to play the damn thing might end up placing!

I'll bash out an effort soon enough. I think the worst thing about Ice Climber is how janky the platforming feels. It's easily the worst jumping mechanics I've encountered in any of Nintendo's NES efforts, at least. I find myself clipping through the edge of platforms and things like that.

EDIT: Okay, here's my first attempt. I found the biggest point scorer to be actually clearing the mountain and grabbing the pterodactyl at the end, but bugger me, what a slog this game is!

Oh boy. Right. I'll get ready to give this a go. I love the Ice Climbers, but I hate Ice Climber. I second the terrible jumping opinion; it's like they went out of their way to make this unenjoyable.

I'd love to play a revamped version of this game with satisfying jumping controls. I can't blame Nintendo for not unearthing this one from the vault yet though!

Blew myself away with this attempt, 3 successful Pterodactyl grabs gave me a huge boost though. Could definitely enjoy an updated version of this.

Going to give it a go the morra but from that 2 player session we had you will remember I was quite bad at it.

Digression: At some point I've got to try and "complete" this, by getting through all 32 mountains. After about 07 or 08 they become daunting as all heck, mind...

It's easier in one-player mode. The second player is a hindrance more than anything!

For some reason, Twitter uses a file format called jpg.large which nobody asked for ever, but you can get the original .jpg file by removing large from the link.

Digression: New NES games dropped today! Including cheaty Zelda?!?!?

The way they've done it is apparently really bizarre: they've just gone out into the game world and farmed bundles and bundles of rupees, then released the save state. You can even die and go back to having nowt, apparently.

I might have to concede defeat with that score, I've had too many frustrating deaths trying to beat it.

I think I'll be throwing in the towel too - I'm also getting frustrated playing this now! Jimmers has served up a cracker of a score that I don't think I've got a chance of beating! Top work, my dude.

I'll wait until Sunday before cycling to the next game, if folks are happy with that?

As for the Zelda romhack mode thing, that is incredibly weird if that's the case, Balla. It also seems to defeat the purpose of playing Zelda, too. Although I did read a fair comment which speculated that this might be them trying to evoke feeling of BotW and being able to go anywhere and tackle it in any order from the word go.

Don't worry y'all - when it's Dr. Mario week I may as well not try - that game doesn't work in my brain! Apparently I can climb ice, but that's it!

I've heard rumours that one andyman949 is already practicing for Dr. Mario week...
