| I actually quite like the smell of cleaning products. Maybe it's because I'm a slight clean-freak myself. |

And on the note of smell, I shall wheel out another thing that tends to get under my nose when out, and that is perfume. I'm not against it or aftershave, but sometimes you'll be walking along and you'll come up behind someone who has put on so much it smells like someone threw a gas grenade of the stuff there. I've been in cleaning product shopping isles that smell nicer than that when it happens. Agreed on the perfume front, had a few bad experiences I had to sit through because people in front wore too much of the stuff. |

| So here are a few frustrations...
My TV doesn't work. I feel like I shouldn't complain, because I didn't pay anything for it. It's a pretty big flatscreen TV that I got off my parents when they got a new one for Christmas in 2012. Thing is, this TV now doesn't play sound for about the first 20 minutes after you turn it on. It also has some issues with visual input. The screen keeps changing size no matter what ratio you set it at meaning that parts of the screen get cut off because it randomly changes the proportions it wants to display; and some images just don't load properly at the right hand side. This isn't really an issue for a slow-paced game like ART STYLE: ORBIENT but it has made games like Super Mario Bros. 3 nigh on unplayable.
My Wavebird doesn't work. Well, it mostly does. But today I discovered that the right trigger is a bit buggered. I discovered this when I decided to go back to Luigi's Mansion, a game I never finished because holy mother of god fuck you King Boowser. This boss battle, rather than being slightly easier due to me being older, was rendered impossible because when your right trigger doesn't work (it cuts off and on and off and on when you hold it), your Poltergust doesn't work. So much for that.
I can't replace any of this stuff because I am super broke. Being an unemployed graduate is not a story any of you have never heard before, but it is still totally balls. I have faced several roadblocks in getting to a point where I can earn money (e.g. temp agencies needing disclosure meaning I have to renew mine meaning I have to pay the money but it has to be sent to a different address than the one I'm currently at because of technically being in the process of moving and this also threw a spanner into the works when I tried to sign on and and and). I have applied to real jobs that I am qualified for and not heard back. I have had interviews for minimum wage jobs and been rejected. I do not lack experience. To date I have had 10 paid jobs to go alongside my degree and wealth of voluntary roles. I am totes employable.
I know it is a matter of patience, and maybe I should bite the bullet and work in a call centre again or something for the time being. But my last call centre job made me want to die, and for all that I have no money to do anything ever right now I don't dread waking up in the morning.
TL;DR: give me a job, you bastards. |

| Spoilers. Specifically, spoilers which are right there in the film's trailer. I've been on a total media blackout since the first pictures of the new transformers film, but now we're getting to the stage where there are adverts on the tv do in getting an idea of the villains and that, recognising bits and bobs from the comicbooks etc. With the last film, they showed the best for the film in all the trailers, tv slots and drink tie ins to the extent that when I saw the film, I recognised the road where optimus was going to fly in and save the day ten minutes before it happened. What a joke.
Other films do it much worse; the last terminator gave away the twist in the trailers and there are loads of other examples which aren't coming to mind.
For a film that did trailers right, look at the New Godzilla. It didn't even seem to be advertising the same film as the one we got, so it was a really nice surprise when I got to the cinema. |

| Ah, the joys of misstepping in the dark and twisting one's entire leg sharply and reducing every step to a tiny hobble. Part of me actually enjoys the pain because it's been so long since I felt it, but the other half of me is obviously uber mad. I could blame it on the fact I accidentally walked on some extremely soggy ground in the park because it was practically pitch black, but lets be honest here. If I had just gone straight to the shops to do my shopping rather than take that unneeded detour during the rain it wouldn't have happened in the first place. Now, the stupid looks I got hobbling down the street and washing the dirt off my hands? That I can attribute to something besides my error of judgement, namely the fact some people think anything that even looks disabled is worthy of gawking at. I was originally actually going to lament the need to move back to a city for family reasons in a year, but now I can't wait to get back. At least there nobody even has time to give a crap about you, which frankly I prefer anyway. And now with this off my chest I'm going to go back to binge watching eureka seven. Actually one last thing, before someone gets the wrong idea and thinks I was doing something very reckless, the park in question is basically a garden arranged around something. Very small, normally perfectly fine and I go there all the time. And now this has officially turned in to " life pays athrun back for every single bad thing he's done in a single 24 hour span" day. I can't even finish eureka seven because, yes, that's right, the tenth and final disc of the set is missing. So now I'm going to have to rebuy the entire set just for that, great, just what I needed, another expense. And, of course, that's my fault too because I put it somewhere safe because the holder was broken, so of course I lose it. And I can't even blow off steam in any way now. I can't watch something to take my mind off my almost consuming rage, and I can't even physically exhaust myself because of the fucking leg. I can't even play a damned game because all it will take is one absolutely tiny thing to push me over the edge now, and if I go over that edge whatever is on hand is heading towards a wall. All I can do is rant until I have no more anger left driving me, which could take the rest of the day. |

| At this point I am convinced that the people running google literally sit down every few months and brainstorm ways to intentionally make youtube worse and less intuitive to navigate. Whose utterly moronic braindead idea was it to change the way to access history and uploaded videos? I would dearly love to meet this person so I could give them a very hard kick to the groin. Meanwhile there are issues that actually need fixing with the site, but do they bother? No, of course not, they're too busy being morons and changing well designed menus in to highly clumsy annoying menus. I honestly can't even remember the last time they did anything good on the site. Oh, no, wait, it appears they have actually fixed the problem causing videos to load moronically slowly the last few days since they rammed yet another " upgrade" to make the video pages look worse. But of course if it ain't broken don't fix it, and the site wasn't broken before they " fixed" it. |

| Trophies So, I just killed my first SOTC Collossus and what a moment it was. I can already feel that this is going to be a great game. The music, the visuals, the whole atmosphere. And this big majestic creature falls and dies, it's a huge moment and... ding! New Trophy.
That shit can Fuck right off. It was the same in Mass effect, completely undercutting every little story beat. I've nothing against the idea or trophies and achievements and that, I actually couldn't care less either way, but when they completely draw you out of an immersion experience and remind you you're playing a game, that's bollocks |

| I have never "got" trophies. Maybe because that's because I've never played on a console where they're a thing, but in Xenoblade I only liked the in-game achievements because I got EXP out of them. Smash Bros., likewise, gives you a trophy to look at and explanatory text to read. I'm one of the most number-loving people I know, but just doing things to increase a number with no other rewards doesn't seem fun to me. I hate frame rate judders in WWHD, say, for the same reason: they drag me out of the adventure. Surely there must be an option to turn trophy messages off, though? Which is more than there is for an inconsistent frame rate. |

| Why don't you just turn off the notifications then? I love trophies, they give me much more incentive to replay a game/ play it in different ways. I know they don't really mean anything but I like being able to compare what I've earnt to what my friends have. |

| Trophies are the one thing I really wish nintendo would add to their games. While they're ultimately pointless they add a mental incentive to play more of a game's content and better oneself in skill. |

| Like I said, it's not the trophies themselves, just the notification pulling me out of the immersion. I'll have a look in a minute and turn notification off, but I feel like that should be standard for some games. |

| There are some games that do trophies/achievements well but others not so much but I just think that most distract you from enjoying the game the way it was intended to be enjoyed as you get to a point where you have to grind (for a lot of hours) for your virtual reward.
I don't think Nintendo platforms need them at all though as they often have that sense of achievement built into the design of their games, like collecting all the star coins in a 2d Mario, stars/green stars in Mario Galaxy or all the fruit/ship parts in Pikmin things like that have always made me happier than hearing the notification alert pop up on ps3.
