It’s only when you see it all laid out that you think ‘ruddy hell, buy less stuff’:
Regarding the Switch games, Pokemon suddenly appeared on the Currys website one morning about two months ago for under £20 delivered. I’m undecided about keeping Balatro. I’m well aware of its reputation and success, but it seems like the sort of thing I’ll get addicted to and might have a broader, negative effect on my free time.
The SEGA Astro City V was unexpectedly discounted on The Game Collection as part of Black Friday. With store points added to the discount, I was well chuffed to get this for about £55.
Speaking of Black Friday discounts, it’s good to see retailers reliably undercutting the Evercade’s RRP. On aggregate these six cartridges ended up being about fourteen quid each, making me a healthy saving all around.
On PlayStation 4, Street Fighter V and PGA Tour 2K21 came from my local Cash Convertors wireframe bargain basket that I’ve typed about many times before. It’s exclusively full of PS4 and Xbox One games now, which still feels like a strange sight to see even though they’re decade-old consoles at this point. Anyhoo, those two here were the pick of the bunch at just a quid each. The Digimon game was in a charity shop, worth getting as trade-in fodder for just 50p.
Bought on PSone, Firebugs sounded interesting to me since I first heard about it a couple of years ago. It’s a futuristic racer made by the folks who did Rollcage and it was released as a European-exclusive in late 2002, a good couple of years after the PS2 launched. Spot Goes To Hollywood and Street Fighter Collection II were cheap in comparison to what they usually sell for, so I thought ‘why not?’.
I’ve had just the one PS2 pick-up recently but it’s a really good one – SEGA Superstars Tennis, sealed for £2. I remember it being an enjoyable game, but I think I’ve got it on two or three other systems. It’ll get kept in its wrapper.
Last but definitely least, the British Red Cross down the street from my work had some Wii games for 50p each.
