Someone's going to pick this up at some point right?

I know there isn't much buzz for this game around these parts, so let us gingerly deposit any buzz, or lack thereof, here.

I'm going to pick this up when my new computer gets here. Hadn't followed any news for it beyond reviews now that they're dropping.

It looks pretty, and I really like that the game apparently has a lot of different permutations based on what you do, both in terms of the ending and what quests you get along the way. The main quest isn't meant to be very long, but I hear that there is a lot of side stuff around it which impacts the main quest, which sounds pretty good to me.

Anyone else planning on playing this? I assume Andy and Mas will at some point.

I have it on my Xbox already as I felt bad my gameshare buddy bought Cold War, Valhalla, Bright Memory, and he wanted to play Cyberpunk over Immortals, which I do as well but I may have waited for the actual Series X version then playing the Xbox One X (I guess that version) via BC.

As from what I've seen the gulf between PC and consoles is wide like the PS4 version from what I'm hearing is like 720p 20fps with texture poppin which make the rumours the base systems were an issue likely very true but also where I guess most of the 8m sold already will be played.

That it might not be the best experience yet and I have Valhalla etc to still play so with more patches etc I'll get to it.

This is one I'll pick up way down the road as this looks like a game that deserves your full focus.

If the side stuff is anything like it was in Witcher 3 then it will be well worth it.

They brought in the guy behind the tabletop game in some capacity, so I think there is a good chance that that narrative depth is going to shine through as it did in the Witcher 3.

As for the performance issues. Selfishly, I never really thought of Cyperpunk as a PS4/One game so that's not something I've monitored. Obviously I hope they can get it running well on there though.

I wonder if we'll end up seeing a big review difference between the next gen hardware and the last gen stuff...

For PC, as far as I'm aware all the bugs are just cosmetic things. It seems to run great on modern hardware. I have seen some reviews talk about how 'immersion breaking' the bugs are. But for me, I'm the weirdo who drives around obeying the traffic laws in a Grand Theft Auto game to see how well they've implemented road traffic laws. That, and people not giving a hoot if I crash my car etc, are the sorts of things I find 'immersion breaking. '

I've got it, picked it up thinking I wouldn't have the PS5 this week and the Watch Dogs patch was a while off. Now I have the PS5 and Watch Dogs has been patched, so I have the easily manageable small backlog of Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, Demon's Souls & Cyberpunk...

That's why I was waiting as I've got Valhalla, Yakuza 7, Falconeer, Fenyx Rising, Haven in my immediate Xbox backlog and I'd like to see what Forza Horizon 4 on Series X & Gears 5 DLC for instance is all about, then stuff on Switch.

Thankfully January looks quite quiet that got time till stuff drops in February like Bravely Default II.

A mate of mine has bought it on PC. It's... not been a smooth journey so far. It's fair to say his bugs are not just "immersion breaking" - he has to keep a specific old save file around, and load that one up from the main menu, before then loading his current save - otherwise it's crash city.

I feel zero emotion about this game in any direction.

Which I find kind of weird. I loved Witcher III, I really dig Cyberpunk aesthetics and I like shooting lads, so there should be some excitement, right?
I'm a big ol' socialist and CD Projekt Red have been pretty awful not just with the crunch but also breaking promises about not doing crunch, so I should be fuming, right?

But nope, nothing. Maybe between having much more real things to worry about, having much more fun things to be excited about, and all the chat online being extremely tedious, I've just been numbed to this game's existence.

I get where you're coming from. I hadn't followed anything about it until the reviews came out. I'm completely apathetic when it comes to game hype now, I just don't get sucked into that hype train... at least, I've not been sucked into one for a good while. So I guess I wasn't ever expecting it to be earth shatteringly good, to redefine video games and amongst other things that people might have been expecting.

But I am still curious to try it because of the Witcher 3.

Between the crunch and the review embargos on the PS4/One versions, the big wigs at CD Project Red have come across as complete tossers though. This launch has clearly damaged their reputation, although whether that actually ends up meaning anything in the long term is doubtful.

That's disappointing... and an oddly specific workaround, I don't think I've ever tried anything like that before. Thanks for sharing though, that could come in handy for me.

I still get it for Nintendo stuff a little, and oh boy am I hyped for Monhan.

Yep, that's what will get me to check it out eventually. Witcher 3 was REALLY BLOODY GOOD.

I only really feel anything resembling "the hype" when a game is out and the podcasts & twitter posts are rampant. It was a real thing for AC Valhalla/PS5 but before it releases I'm basically apathetic.

I know I like to update the hype thread often but it's more excitement than hype, as I have God of War 2 as PS5 game I'm excited for as God of War 2018 is pretty darn good amongst others, even stuff such as Returnal because Housemarque is a studio I like, I'm keen.

From seeing all the glitch compilations and clips, I genuinely can't believe how much this has been cocked up. I thought this was going to be a home run after watching that 45 minute gameplay demo from a couple of years back, but they've absolutely humped it.

I think, even though I'll be potentially getting this as a Christmas gift, I might hold off on playing it until there's been a couple of patches to iron out the majority of the bugs.

My new pewter came Friday so I bought it. Only done the tutorials but its running pretty well.

There was a bug that was bad, which is that it stopped recognising the joystick so I couldn't walk haha. Worked fine with mousey.

Alright so I had my first proper session with it.

It's good. Playing it on PC with all the ray tracing and shit on, yeah it's beautiful.

I can certainly see why some people have called the game hollow as there are relatively few people you can really interact with and citizens just aimlessly amble around. But that's not really what the game is about, it's about the story. It started off a bit choppy; there were interesting characters here and there but I didn't feel like I was getting to know them. And then things really spice up.

So yes, good. Pretty good. Best game ever? I don't think it will reach those heights, but I can't complain so far. I'm not even sure if it was the game's fault that it stopped reading my ps4 inputs, the cable is all messed up. Not had any issues with the Switch Pro controller. The only bugs I've encountered have been cosmetic. There's only been one really that happens with any regularity. If you drive through a tunnel in third person mode then the player character will t-pose through the roof Laughing

That's actually not a bug, it's an homage to Bruce Willis surfing on a truck in Die Hard With a Vengeance.

I think that's what'll let the game down for me as even if I waited on some patches, I don't think they can really fix that sort of issue. I was really hoping for a more alive world to cut about in, but it doesn't seem like that's what the game is presenting.

It's not perfect.

I've cracked on with the main story though and that's really going from strength to strength. Very strong imo. Good amount of ways to approach missions: stealth, hacking, shooty bangs. And there's some great depth to the narrative that unravels quite compellingly.

Dont expect this to be an earth shattering game, but it is still pretty damn good in it's own right. I'm not really a fan of those big open world games in general, but I'm trending towards thinking of cyberpunk as being closer to excellent than good at the moment.

Yeah I remember my first disappointment was when I walked up to a gang member and there was just no way to interact with him, it just started a fight. It definitely feels like dialogue options are reserved for more specific individuals, though I made peace with it considering the world is just full of jerk bags who aren't interested in negotiating.
I do think the various approaches to solving your tasks are great though and the story missions & characters have all been top notch, so it's definitely a great game, albeit a flawed one.

I think it's also that the world of the witcher is much more sparse. There's the appearance of human life everywhere in cyberpunk but all most of it does is say one random thing, which kind if highlights how artificial it is. Though to be fair, only weirdos chat with strangers on the streets so maybe that's fair haha.

For me it's things like there being relatively few ads on the billboards and such which is more annoying (and pretty much all of the ads being about winky wink times with a lady). Or the fact that the cars have the turning circle of a barge yet they also feel like they're got no grip... the minimap being zoomed in too much so you miss your exits when driving at speed all the time sucks too, feel like I'm constantly watching it. The police are very stupid out in the open world bits as well.

So cyberpunk is considerably worse than a gta in terms of that real city feel and driving. But it looks a million times better. I cannot tell if it's better looking at night, day, rain or dry and even when I miss a turn I'm still sightseeing. And it has a very good set of missions with a story that's actually really good. Pacing isn't ideal at times but I think you have to expect that given the genre. Make your peace as Andy has with its shortcomings and you're in for a treat.

I've seen some more bugs now, things floating in the air as the asset doesn't load properly and occasionally the physics engine takes a dump, but nothing that I can't just briefly laugh at and move on. If you have a next gen platform my experience is that it's ready to jump right into now.

I got this for Christmas and I've put a wee chunk of time into it so far. It's been alright so far! I've had a few crashes, the usual animation bugs you'd expect and some framey moments, but nothing utterly gamebreaking.

The world and characters really make wandering about an immersive experience and I've enjoyed the combat encounters centred around stealth, hacking and gunplay. Melee weapons aren't very fun to use and I'm not impressed by the driving though.

Story's been good so far, mind you. I don't think this is a 90+ epic like it was lauded to be before launch, but nor is it a total disaster as it's been made out to be. Having said that, I'm playing after a couple of hotfixes have released and I'm on a PS4 Pro as opposed to a base model.

I've heard it's alright on the pro. The odd drop of a frame here and there with some crashes but otherwise good.

There is one killer bug on pc. If save file is over 8mb it'll corrupt. Not sure about consoles but the trick is to not have a big inventory as that keeps the file size down.

The melee isn't great although I don't know any first person games with amazing melee combat to be fair. I've enjoyed it for what it is but this is much more a shooter/hacker/stealth game than a brawler!

I'm at the point of no return in my save now so will do the remaining side quests im interested in and finish today i think.

Apparently your decisions in game generate numerous endings so looking forward to seeing that. The pacing continues to be odd. I can't explain why without spoilers but suffice to say depending on the order you do things one of the characters does the odd 180 in a way that didn't happen in the witcher. It's forgivable but a bit jarring. Ultimately the main quest and many side quests continue to he really strong, albeit some side quests feel a little formulaic by the end.

And I think that kind of sums up cyberpunk. Has its sins but it's still pretty good. Of course I've not experienced any major issues so there is that!

I've not really felt like playing anything since Valhalla and just rumbling between things since with only Figment sticking as its short.

Anyway on the Podcast, I did mention this was one of five games in my backlog I'd like to get to, and I started it last night. I did almost go for Fenyx Rising which Craig is playing, so maybe good podcast content if we both had views on it but now guess will talk about three different games at least.

I've only played about 2hrs and I'm playing on a XSX, so have a couple options which I went for quality mode as it's a fixed 30fps compared to an unlocked one which doesn't look like it hits 60fps often.

Anyway of course we're a few patches in and 1.1 and 1.2 aren't far away which then seems sort be done bur so far it looks good and I've had no issues, just the one funny glitch where Jackie walks through a door which is no worse than I've had in other games or seen in Bethesda games.

That I will be continuing on with my Night City adventure.

The worst glitch I encountered was during a long "on rails" section that's really important to the story. A guitar riff got stuck in an infinite loop which really killed the mood. Saving and loading the game again after the set piece fixed the issue but I couldn't do anything about it during Mad

As long as it's pretty stable then I think you'll get on with it really well as the story is very good.
