I reckon there's a high chance of just bouncing off entirely if you play Kiwami first, plus if you're Switch only anyway you can't go any further so it's a bit of a moot point  

You wouldn't need to play any to play the Pirate one anyway I assume. I've not really looked into it though, can't say I'm that fussed by it at the moment.

Yeah just feels they rebranded to LAD, new lead etc for a reason for people like me to jump into the series instead of the 7 games before it.

I do own Ishin and Project Century is on my radar for sure being in 1915 that be able to jump into that RGG game fine.

Yakuza Zero is a great game tbf, i fell off it on PS4 but that was a me problem not the game, the Majima story is so good!

I have now started Fantasian im about 5 hours in and first impressions are good. Its very much a "modernish game from Sakaguch". Feels like a half way house between Lost Odyssey (the best Sakaguchi game, fight me) and Bravely Default 2. I like the monster piling up mechanic and the core battle system is fun. Its not one of those games thats going to change your life but if you like Turn based RPG's with a slight twist i would recomend. Looks and runs great on the Switch OLED too which is always a plus!

So it's starts kinda basic standard levelling but i just got to it opening up abit and is giving me FF X sphere grid vibes to be honest!

I finished Super Mario RPG last night and I felt it was pretty good fun. While I don’t think it’s one of the Switch’s greatest games or anything, I don’t have any complaints or nitpicks either. Just a cheerful, brisk and carefree time altogether, I think it’s especially worth getting now that the price has dropped to around twenty quid.
 
I’m trying to decide what I move onto next. It might very well be Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which I’ve had sat on the shelf in its wrapper for years now. I’ve not played Pikmin 3 since it was new on the Wii U either, and that’s well over a decade ago now.

SMRPG got quite a lot of pushback from surprising sources. I think it's a perfectly nice game, pretty simple but that's to its benefit IMO, and I'm glad you found that. We've got TTYD for those wanting more complex Mario RPGs, and Brothership for people who want Mario RPGs with artificial complexity and bad writing.
