GNamer Euro 2020 Sweepstakes Footballs Coming Home

I don't know if it's because Euro 2020 didn't take place last year, 3 of the 4 Home Nations (With England & Scotland in the same group) are taking part or fans are in the grounds (England play all 3 games at home, Scotland 2 out of 3) but seems to be some excitement for this year's tournament.

Which brings us to a GNamer Sweepstakes I'm not sure how I will divvy up the 24 Nations, this all depends on how many of us take part.

If you're not big on Football (Balla), I will tell you France is the favourites to win the Euro's and England second favs which I'm guessing is due to how many games England would play at home if they got to the final at Wembley (5/6 out of 7 games).

The reason there's some excitement is because now we know ENGLAND ARE BLOODY GOOD AND IT'S DEFINITELY COMING HOME. Also because it's the last bit of international football for a while because we're all obviously boycotting the Qatar world cup and we're not gonna drop our performative morals the first instance we have to make any kind of minor sacrifice. Right?

Anyway, I'm in.

I had a look yesterday at a tournament predictor and England are likely to play France, Germany or Portugal in last 16. That I can't see England going far, can see it now losing to Germany at Wembley.

Harry Kane will personally murder the entire Germany team one by one right there on the pitch.

Give me a selection of fine boys to earn me a fine trophy.

Is it a given that England will get out the group stage? They’ve chronically underperformed in many of their most important games in recent memory. Games against Costa Rica in 2014, against Iceland in 2016 and against Croatia and Belgium in 2018 spring to mind, and there’s likely others I’m forgetting. They’ve always had piss-easy qualifying groups too. With England, there’s always a chance that their bottle will crash.

I know I’m saying this has someone who’s unconditionally supporting Scotland, a squad whose made it to their first tournament since C’est La Vie by B’Witched. And that’s only after scraping past Albania, Israel and Serbia.

Anyway, I’ll join this sweepstake, but what’s in it for the winner?

If England doesn't win it this year, they'll never win. As a Spurs fan, you'd think supporting the national team would be a welcome break from inevitable disappointment, but England truly is the Spurs of national teams. Won a major trophy in the 60s, had some great players over the years, and try to mix it with the big boys who actually win things, but lose in the quarter-finals.

As a fellow Spurs fan, I've always described it as being good practice for supporting England!

On another note, some of those username puns in the opening post are absolutely class 

No one really Smurf, just seen some Scottish players (don't think even internationals) had last names of Lilley and was an easy change, as not a lot else I could do.

Anyway the draw has taken place as we had 11 of us, I did draw the 12th man who's got some okay teams that if Jay or Rum or whoever wants to claim them they can, that hasn't taken part.

That's fine because football is coming home too.

State of those brackets. England are preparing to play an off-tune Germany side without any recognised strikers, and the winner of that game gets Sweden or Ukraine – and they manage to body swerve France, Belgium, Italy and Spain until at least the final. If England somehow make an arse of this, they shouldn't be allowed back.
