This came out of nowhere, but I am so happy to see Hades get a sequel. It's not Supergiant's MO to give us a direct sequel to any of their games, but I think Hades deserves it.
From what they've shown off, it looks like more of what we loved from the original which is no bad thing at all. I'd imagine the writing, characters and music will all be of a similarly excellent quality.
Are we excited?

Definitely excited for this & it was easily the best new thing announced at the game awards.

Sorry, I was at work and they've got YouTube blocked on the company internet.
I'm very interested to find out who you're playing as and what's happening with Zagreus. I will say that I'm curious if this makes next year or not - I'd be leaning early 2024 knowing that Supergiant is a fairly small studio and all, but then again it could be a shorter turnaround this time with it being a sequel and all. That's a lot of rambling for a big "who knows?"

I was curious too and gave me a good reason to read more about greek mythology, so I looked up Hades specifically to see if there was more children of his and we have Macaria & Melinoë. The latter of which fits the artwork of the new main character when you look up the meaning of her name....
Quote :
Melinoë may derive from Greek mēlinos, "having the colour of quince", from mēlon, "tree fruit".[5] The fruit's yellowish-green colour evoked the pallor of illness or death for the Greeks.
Also this just sounds cool as fuck for a video game character.
Quote :
Melinoë is a chthonic nymph or goddess invoked in one of the Orphic Hymns and represented as a bringer of nightmares and madness.

Disappointed not to see Supergiant not do something else after Hades

I saw people saying you play as Zag's sister, but after watching the trailer myself I think it may just be conjecture.

When I looked at the trailer again after my last post it just convinced me more that it's Melinoé, as the shadowy figure training her also fits Hecate with the witch hat (which is a bit on the nose) & the torch that comes out when she fakes the final blow.

Very much looking forward to this. Happy to see them return to this well because when you're dealing with ancient mythology, there's plenty of ideas still to explore.
I think this Hades was the first majorly successful Supergiant game, in terms of really nailing the art, music, AND the process of playing the game. They've always been a studio with great ideas, but not perfect execution for many. So seeing them expand on Hades, yeah that's a winner.
