| A few people put this down as their favourite board game in the Personality Profile V2, myself included, but I wanted to dig a bit deeper. I've always been quite fond of the game, despite not playing it much over the years. If you offered me a game right now, I'd jump at the chance. So let's discuss it. Tactics, playing styles that you've used, memorable games you've had, different versions you've played, or anything else. Oh, and favourite piece. My top three (from the standard edition) - dog, top hat, car.

| Favourite piece? Captain Picard.
My play style is generally to buy everything in a certain middle-ish price range, to aim for a couple of complete sets, and try to be sensible with my money. I haven't actually finished many games in my day, to be honest. It's not my favourite board game, but is a favourite of a few friends and the missus, so I am occasionally compelled. |

| I used to collect monopolies (had over 30). My game plan is train stations and do what seems like bad deals for me but always work out well. |

| Chalk up another one to the train stations strategy. I also try to get some of the more costly properties, like Mayfair and Bond Street, to create a Lane Of Death. These tactics rarely work in combination. |

| I've never owned this, and only played it a handful of times at various mates' houses. Last time, things got a little heated when one drunken mate threw mayonnaise at another. Sounds tame, but he kicked up f**k about it. Don't really play it enough to know about tactics/playing styles/what to do though. |

| My Monopoly tactics are to buy everything you land on, including train stations and utilities, with the exception of the reds, yellows and greens - it costs too much to put houses and hotels on these sites. However Park Lane and Mayfair are essential. And I am always the hat. No-one can stand in the way of that. In my version (which has some Guyanese rules), you can also negotiate with your fellow players if they have something you want, usually the property that completes the set. And if you land on the Free Parking spot, you get to take the funds the players throw into the centre of the board when they get fines or payments due, either from landing on the tax spaces or having bad luck on the Chance or Community Chest cards. |

| I always try to get sets, where possible. I also like to have the Electric Company and Water Works. Once I've got teh mega bucks, I like to slam houses down, followed by hotels. I always play as the dog.
Does anyone ignore the 'one lap round the board' rule before making purchases? We always did when we played the game as kids. |

| My tactic is to sit behind the people playing and use my basic financial knowledge to make really irritating comments about the state of the Cypriot economy, say, and its relevance to the situation; until I get kicked out of the room. |

| I've played many differnt rules but the masofdas rules are
You can buy on the 1st go around
If you don't want something it goes up for auction
Of copurse do deals with other players
Free Parking Rule , so any tax etc payed goes into the middle of the bored and if you land of free parking you get the cash, keeps the game going longer especiallysomeone not doing so good lands on it
And everyone forgets but on your cards at the bottom it says if you own all of a set you can double your standard rent if no house or hotels are on any, so double standard rent counts which is great for old kent road as you don't want to waste money on houses or hotels down there.
And another one is if you sale off your houses etc to get money if you read on the card you only get 1/2 the value of them also something that get forgotton but i do play this rule aswell. |

No WAAAAAAAAAAY, having hotels on Old Kent Road is a steal! I love having a corner of death with hotels on the Old Kent Road and the Mayfair sections. But you and I play under exactly the same rules, right down to the rent doubling if you own all the properties in a section. |
