| That's yet another high street chain on the brink of collapse: Blockbuster went into administration yesterday.
*would post a news link here if I were allowed*
In a world where Netflix and Lovefilm allow you to access just about anything you want at the click of a button, describing Blockbuster as old-fashioned would be generous. I don't want to see it go down the pan, though I'll admit that the last thing I bought in there was on the GameCube.
Anyone use Blockbusters or work there? |

| I've set foot in Blockbuster before, but like a lot of shops in my city, our branch was/is pretty dire. Poor selection, though they did occasionally have a blitz on games and probably had one or two decent bargains.
Sad to see it go, but as others have said: Lovefilm and online retailing has destroyed the point of the place for pretty much anyone who's computer literate.

| There's actually a Blockbuster store about 10 minutes away from where I live, and I am kind of disappointed it will most likely be gone soon. Don't get me wrong, in terms of renting anything they are a waste of time, but they were actually good for games from time to time. I've found a few bargains there in the past, but most importantly the staff there have always been good, and it just has a better atmosphere than Game (which is the only other shop to sell games near me really once HMV are gone). |

| I just remember them as something that came up on adverts before films with an annoying jingle. Never actually used them. |

| Been in my nearest Blockbuster once, to buy sweets/drinks for a film night at a friend's house. I've never felt the urge to rent a film in that way... or even have Netflix or Lovefilm, to be honest... |

| I actually use them quite a lot. Not so much to rent (Kinect Star Wars was the last to be rented, just after it was released) but to buy and trade-in. Their trade-in prices are very good; much higher than GAME.
Their 4 for £20 deal is good value for money also. My two nearest local Blockbusters are pretty big, so always a large selection.
As Stu said, they have good sales now and then too. A few PS Vita games were £5 each just before Xmas.

| Although speaking of PSVita, I was picking through the corpse of my local HMV today and noticed they had loads of different PSVita games in, but very few DS or 3DS titles.
Make your own joke, there. |

| I'm quite saddened by this news. I don't exactly buy from Blockbuster these days, but I have some nice memories from when I used to. Now the only places to buy games in this town are CeX and the small selections in supermarkets. >< |

| Even though just recently my local Blockbuster was told by the admins that it would be one of the few staying open, now it has been confirmed to be closing too later this month. They've reduced things by 20 - 30% but nothing in there still that I want that can't be found cheaper online. A prime example of their piss-taking however includes (before discount) charging £41 for WWE 13, despite it never costing that much elsewhere even on release day |

| That's ridiculous! I just picked up WWE '13 for £15 today from GAME. |

Sounds a lot like HMV really, nothing in there seems worth buying at the time because I know I can get it at the same price or cheaper at a later date, no problem. |
