Microsoft and Viacom have now taken the video telling people without the internet to buy a 360, methinks they now know what a bad thing to say that was.

Just think, in ten years time, when they start shutting down the servers like they did with the original Xbox and as Nintendo are about to do with the Wii, you'll not be able to play anything on this. It'll be as good as a paperweight. As someone who still plays retro games loads, that's mince.

Exactly. You're paying £429 to own something for a limited time. It's madness.

Why aren't they supporting it in Portugal?

I could have sworn I made a post here a little earlier about the select regions thing. Oh well. This is hilarious. Microsoft are gate crashing Nintendo E3 bestbuy booths in the US!
Talk about being desperate. I don't think I've seen a company commit commercial suicide this spectacularly before. It's even funnier than when Sony were screwing up the Playstation 3 launch!

Well, this is surprising - Don Matrick, important MS bloke, issuing a public apology for Microsoft's policies regarding the Xbox One.

This is even more hilarious, with the news the ONE is only going to arrive in certain places, one of those places that it isn't arriving is Poland, the development team behind witcher 3 whole were on the ONE stage and showed it off. Are you guessed it are from Poland, they can't actually play there on game on a ONE lol allegedly they are a bit niffed and did find out like everyone else Poland isn't getting the ONE.

U-Turn: Bug-type attacking move, 20 PP, 70 power, 100 accuracy. After making its attack, the user rushes back to switch places with a party Pokémon in waiting.
EDIT: And Fake Tears.

Xbox 180 amiright guys?
Seriously though, this is the only logical move they could have done in order to ensure their console doesn't bomb. Sure, they look weak by backpedaling, but they'll shift consoles now.

This is definitely a good idea, no doubt about that. But its a good idea too late because I just don't see Microsoft beating PS4 this Christmas because they're too far behind on pre-orders. But this announcement should level the playing field for this gen to finally begin...
Also, as far as them going back on their word is concerned while that will probably worry shareholders and the like I don't think consumers will care.
The Xbox One still sounds like a bad system to me. Leaving aside the fact that Microsoft have a terrible reputation for reliability there is the fact they are still going to have that cloud system tied to every game they can tie it to. If you tie performance to the internet then the system is still neutered once the generation is over, just not rendered completely inoperable.
Still, this backtracking was inevitable really. I expect to see more backtracking before the launch including a price reduction of fifty us dollars myself.

Nothing Microsft can do now will win me over. The Kinect system still bothers me for multiple reasons, including paying for something I just don't want, but in the end, I don't trust them.

The fact Kinect is still a necessity turns me away from the console. A peripheral shouldn't be integral to the architecture of a console.

That's what people said/say about the Wiimote and Wii U pad, though. Hows is Kinect any different?

Because it has never been worked into a game effectively and adds £130 to the price tag would be my problem with it. Personally I preferred the original system, it's now just a 360 with slightly better graphics and forced kinect and adds no new features that offered an interesting alternative to the PS4 (e.g 10 people game library, not having to buy gold per person). On the plus side they have the games over PS4 for now so it might be a bit of a boost for them...

I meant in the sense of being a necessary peripheral, not all the other aspects, but I get your point.

More in the sense that Kinect is clearly a peripheral add-on, whereas you could you argue that the Wiimote and Wii U pad are the controller and aren't peripherals as such. Of course, Microsoft would say that "With Kinect, YOU are the controller" so that would render my point moot, natch.

There isn't a single thing that Kinect does that remotely interests me. It is different from the Wiimote and Gamepad because they are the prime controller, have buttons and still do pretty much what a traditional controller does, but with extra. Every game I have seen that requires Kinect sucks like all the bad Wii games I never wanted. The so called "Better with Kinect" games just add stuff I would never want to do. An example of that is pretending to drive in Kinect - I don't like the Wii Wheel in Mario Kart either.
There is something about standing around waving my arms that feels ridiculous - I tried a demo and hated it. So often I had to move my hand, hold it there for a while and then it registered what I wanted. I could have done it in 1/100th the time by just pushing a button. The same goes for stupid voice controls - I can just push a button.
By enforcing Kinect with every console, they will be pushing developers to use it and I just don't want any part of it. Touch screen is a million times better. Plus, I don't appreciate its potential privacy issues one little bit. I want to play games naked and not be paranoid Microsoft is watching me (jk)
