So last night Namco confirmed that arguably the best in the series Soul Calibur II is getting a HD port with online for Xbox 360 & PS3. To me is silly not to be on wiiu seeing the cube version sold the best, and a lot seem to agree apparently every other post on the announcement page on facebook is where's the wiiu version, there's even a petition going online to get on wiiu. The thing the bugs me the most is namco is helping with smash bros yet there support for the wiiu is noun existent, so why have nintendo getting help from them surely there's someone else to help with smash bros 4.

I'll reserve my judgment of it for when I know if they'll be keeping the single player modes to be honest. The original on the Cube is one of my all item favourite fighters but it was mostly because of the single player stuff. If this ends up being basically the same game (minus Link) and with online stuff including leaderboards it'll be a day one purchase. Otherwise it'll be another miss for me like V was, my internet isn't all that great so fighters aren't worth picking up on multiplayer alone.
Still, it's nice news all the same.

Best single player mode of any fighter, ever. Online play will only enhance this - it's my favourite Soul Caliber game, and if there's no Wii U version and Link is excluded from bashing people with a miniture Megaton Hammer and lobbing bombs at creepy gimp Voldo, then I'll be most upset.

Boo, I was quite fond of this on the GC. I was a Talim player, after flirtations with Link and Cervantes. I got through the campaign mode by spamming Voldo's Demon Elbow though.

Have you not played mortal kombat (2009) or injustice jay they have great single player modes. I always used Seong Mi-na myself.

I've not, no! Always enjoyed the adventure aspect of SC2's story mode though.
I used Raphael and Seung Mina, favouring Raph!

I think everybody liked Soul Calibur II on the GC. It's somewhat mystifying that this remake isn't coming to Wii U, as I recall NGC noting that the version featuring Link sold better than those on the other consoles. Soul Calibur II HD would be a game that the most serious Nintendo fans would get exited about and, ultimately, pay to download.

I've never tried SC2, I've tried 4 and 5 and thought they were awful so it's never particularly interested me.

Ahh, just when I say something with a firm confidence, Andyman says the opposite. Bang on cue!

I had quite a good time with SCIV. Yoda was a little bitch to fight though. You should definitely play SCII Andy, great game.

Oddly enough I never could take to Seig's style when he's split from Nightmare actually. I guess I just prefer the more smash and brute force style of Nightmare.

it's not a beat em up, it's a fighter jaster. And very different to a smash bros which is also a fighter. if you want q beat em up wait for streets of rage to come to 3DS.

Hold on a minute... when I were a lad, they were all called beat'em-ups. Streets of Rage, Final Fight etc. were distinguished by calling them "scrolling beat'em-ups".

Well I'm a little bit younger so that might have baring on it, but since the mega drive days I've always known streets of rage, golden axe to be beat'em ups or side scrolling beat'em ups and the likes of street fighter II being called 2D fighters then later 3D fighters with likes of tekken on PS1. And recently EVO has just been which is a fighting tournament and not called a beat'em up tournament.
