Games Nicknames

Back in the day I remember the NGamer forum confusing Stu into looking for a game called Roranges, which was the nickname for Rayman Origins. I have a few nicknames for games myself, including calling Runner2 'FLORA' and Mighty Flip Champs 'Mighty Sh*t Pants' (which makes its later sequel 'Mighty Bitch Whores', of course!  ).

Mostly from their acronyms, so TWEWY is the obvious one. It's just so fun to say!

LoZOOT is a good one in that regard, too.

There are probably a million other ones that I use much more regularly which are just skipping my mind, but my mate had me calling Tingle's game, the real name of which I don't even recall, Twingo's Big Red Twanger.

I often call Battlefield 4 'Battlefrustration' or 'Battlefreeze'.

During the hundred-odd hours I played Oblivion, that activity was known as "Bliv-ing".
I guess I did the same with Skyrim; Rim-ing OH WAIT NO WAIT HANG ON NO WAIT


I love Little King's Story, but it was "Underage Polygamy Simulator" for a while.

Prince of Persia is just "Prince".

My sister calls anything with HD in it "Hardly Different".

And my mum calls here favourite game Enslaved Oddysey to the West "That one I really like. You know, with the.. that one" - because she's really bad at remembering names of things.

On a similar note, to my Dad, Street Fighter IV was "eh, that Tekken game".

The World is Not Enough was TWINE, so a match on The World is Not Enough was "let's have a ball*comedic pause, eyebrow wiggle* on Twine" natch. Mario Kart: Double Dash was "Double Gash" among the right-thinking DD-haters in my friend group! (plus the wrong-minded MK64-haters would call it Sixty-Bore, the scum!). We used to knock a flatmates Tenchu game so much we replaced the sleeve with a crudely drawn one christening it "TenPoo: Wroth of Devon". Finally, can never go wrong among our gang with highlighting the Legends can be said LEG..ENDS every time a game uses it in the title.

I had a moment the other week where my Final Fantasy loving friends were talking about the FF X Hardly Different (10/10 for that one Jimbob's sibling!) release, and asked me what I knew about the game. I said that I'd played it and it was ok, but I hated the main character, that Cloud chap.

I played FFX for nearly 30 hours not 3 years ago!

The epic battle of Jas vs. Balla on the Dark Souls vs. Zelda issue has just reminded me that I called Twilight Princess both 'Twilight Dog' and 'Toilet Princess' (not a fan of TP and still haven't finished it).

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier is a game I always think of as "Super Booby Robot Fights".
