amiibo: Who Are You Getting?

Now that we've seen the finished pieces, seen how much they cost, learnt more about their function in Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors and more, and played as the characters in SSB3DS, which of the amiibo figures are you planning on getting later this year?

Are you just buying the one of your favourite Smash Bros. fighter? Are you buying the ones without big yellow dods of plastic holding them up? Are you going for a full collection? Let us know in the poll.

I'll be getting the two of my most used Smash Bros. fighters: Kirby and Pikachu. I heard that Kirby is going to be used in the upcoming Rainbow Paintbrush game too, so that makes it an easier choice. I can't imagine the Pikachu amiibo will go back in it's box like the DK Bongos, GameCube microphone or Sing Party microphone - it'll surely have a later use.

I just can't decide if it's worth it. I'm getting really bad for buying every game under the sun at launch and about a third/fourth of a game on a figure is something I'm having trouble justifying for a costume in MK8 and a self fighting character in Smash (and a weapon if I ever actually get around to Hyrule Warriors). There's also the fact that once I pop I just won't stop...

If I do take the plunge I'll start with Marth/Samus/Link from the first lot, then Pit/Luigi/Zelda from the second.
Then I'd be a third of the way there and end up buying them all...

The figures aren't great themselves, I've never been much of a figurine collector anyway, and right now none of the functionality is jumping out at me. So the answer's none for the time being.

I'm gonna grab Mario, Link and Peach on the day and I've whacked Luigi, Zelda and Samus on my Amazon list in the hopes someone will get me some for Crimbo.

I'd love to be all "I'm a grown up who doesn't buy toys and that" but come off it, you all know I need them in my life.

I'm definitely not leaving them aside because I'm all mature and adult and stuff and don't like toys. I've always been more a soft toy man myself. In fact, I know that Nintendo are planning smaller and even card-form amiibi: if they made soft toy amiibi, I would buy the whole range. THE WHOLE RANGE.

Why was marth left off the list?  Not that it really matters *puts on negativity cap*, as of present I'm not likely buying any of them, except maybe the "other" qualifying robin and or shulk depending on their quality.  Maybe if I didn't have so much to try and buy before mid december I'd bite on link or pit, but alas I don't so I won't.  This is precisely why I hate that every company everywhere decides to release their big stuff at christmas, my expendable money is essentially already spent for the rest of the year.

Just Samus for me, just to see how it all works as I wouldn't want to go all out and then find out I wouldn't get much use out of them.

Jas has got something there; I'm just going to get Mario (mainly because he'll be easy to pick up on launch day without pre-ordering, bah) and experiment with him. If amiibi turn out to be good, I might get a few more, like Link and Samus. Otherwise, pah.

On launch I've got Link, Samus, Marth, Wii Fighter Trainer coming with the latter two not being on the poll even though there launch amiibo

I will likely try to get them all if spread out enough like 6 at a time after launch and just one set, if they start bringing out Mario Party 10's set out in between could just be two many.

But I do like the sound of the cheaper ones especially the cards, Pokemon Trading Card Game Please, but does add even more stuff to get.

Also Captain Toad is an Amiibo enabled game but seen nothing on it and it's out next month in the states, would like to see what they do with that or are we getting Toad & Toadette Amiibo.

@Andy you can play as them but has to be custom game setting and they will work just like any other custom made character in the game, so no level bonus etc but might be useful if you've got a fav set-up that it's saved to the ammibo when you go around a mates that you've not got to spend 5minutes making your custom character.

Starting with Fox for Smash Bros as he's still probably my main and Link too, partly because of Smash Bros again but the Hyrule Warriors has helped sway me. Will likely get Luigi when that one is released too, any more will be dependant on funds but I'd quite like Pikachu and Villager. Strange that the 3 I'm definitely going for so far are ones with the horrible slabs of colour to hold them up.

I will probably get loads, curse my stupid, weak-willed self for buying loads, and stuff them in my ninten-tat crate with all my other frivolous Ninty bits and bobs and magazine free gifts.

Probably get all the major characters for Mario Kart and Hyrule Warriors use; leaving Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Fire Emblem peeps and a few other lesser stars. Animal Crossing villager will be a shoe-in, he's the one I most want to be trained and then controlled by a uncaring AI in Smash and used to terrify and defeat my friends. Yoshi looks like a boss, might tack that gangsta-dino model on to the car dash (risking increasing the car's value by 50%!)...

When I bought Tetris Ultimate yesterday, Friday's desirables were all set up behind the counter... including Mario and Fox amiibi. The Mario one looks quite good, although I was looking from, as the classics say, far away.
