| It's likely just how I feel about downloadable titles but whilst I do rate my money-fun satisfaction with them in a similar way I don't tend to get the same overall amount of enjoyment from them. So few download titles have truly blown my mind or kept me on edge for many brilliant hours through twists and turns like retail games do, but then I wouldn't pay £40 for an indie game.
If folks don't think it's worth it though I'll happily concede. |

| But why wouldn't you pay £40 for a indie game though surely if the game is good and something you really want to play then it shouldn't matter it's indie.
Everyone knows my most anticipated game is No Man's Sky, I gladdy pay £40 for that and being indie doesn't mean it won't come on a disc just look at January's game releases nearly all indie yet on a disc if that's something that bothers you.
Like consoles I don't see retail or indie, I just see games and there judged on there quality as a game & experience with them not there price tag's or development cost etc.
Sorry to go off-topic Balla but it really grinds my gears when people think retail games are clearly better then indie & downloads and seem to look down on them even though they try things that retail games don't. |

The awards any of the game based ones should go to your fav game be it £40 or a F2P title. As I said I think it's like they've been overlooked a little when we have seen some great downloadable games in 2014 one of which will make it into my top 3 but I have a few others that I had great fun with that may just miss out but if the majority say no then I'll accept it. I also don't see what price has to do with it as a great game is a great game. |

| I can see both sides of the argument here, although personally I'd still be a "no" this year, in the interests of keeping things simple. Don't forget that there's an Honourable Mentions section for any games that didn't quite make the voting cut. That said, if another person can emerge who supports the vote before this evening, I'll include it. If not, there's always next year...
In exciting news, I have a vote already! Well done that person! Between him and me, by the way, we've got three votes for downloadables, and four honourable mentions for them. Also, can I remind you that you shouldn't really vote for yourself or threads you created? And that if you do, you will be unmasked and mocked at the awards ceremony? |

I also don't see what price has to do with it as a great game is a great game. That's what I'm saying but people see £40 retail game they instantly think it's better then a £13 downloadable title, Andy has even said he wouldn't pay £40 for a indie game and the only reason why that can be is that it's indie not a retail game. Where it should be like what you said Jas instead. |

| Maybe but to me it reads I wouldn't pay £40 for a indie game and why not there must be a reason. |

| Excellent, I appreciate you having this ready at 2am on the morning on 1 January, of all times!
I wouldn't worry too much about needing to give download-only titles their own category this year -- my own GOTY list has plenty of games like that in there (like PIX the CAT, TxK, Threes!, Sailor's Dream to name a few), which speaks volumes for how they can stand on their own among the bigger releases.
That being said, I do think having a top three might pose problems: I'd imagine most peoples' Wii U lists will rightfully be something like: Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash U...oh. While it'd be nice to give Scram Kitty a place, it isn't better than those three, so maybe do a top 5?
Sorry if I'm a bit too late in suggesting so! |

| You are a little bit, Fronk - sorry! I now have two votes already, including my own (containing plenty of downloadables, I might add). Like I said, though, there are always the honourable mentions for the games that didn't quite make the cut. And who knows where this might go next year... |

| There's sod all point me voting in the regular awards this year, but I'll post my gaming choices a little closer to the deadline (I want a little more time with Shovel Knight before I commit myself). |

| I hope it's a good turnout for you, Balla. It was a record year last year... though technically as our first year of voting on this site, that was a given. |

| Cheers Jas - that makes six! Looking like we'll have a good number for each award, even though not everyone has voted in all categories. A couple of categories have standouts, but not many at this stage! |
