| I dunno how keyed up masofdas is when it comes to PC stuff, but I'll be astounded if he's never heard of Freedom Planet. I hadn't heard of it before I saw a somecallmejohnny review of it on YouTube the other day.
Described as an homage to classic platformers, it looks like a Saturn-era mix between Sonic Rush and Gunstar Heroes (the boss battles) to me, though the gameplay is of apparently on a level of polish and sophistication to Shovel Knight. Dying to give this a go in the near future, even though I loathe PC games. Has anyone else played it/heard of it?
(Apparently the devs want a 3DS port, so here's hoping!) |

| Mac owner here, but anything with "Gunstar Heroes" and "3DS" in is enough to make my ears perk up. Or, er, my eyes, I guess. On the basis of your comments alone, I hope it gets a port!

| Somecallmejohnny: https://www.youtube.com/user/SomecallmeJohnny/videos
(YouTube video reviewer who loves Sonic, but also knows his retro/Nintendo onions. I quite like his Johnny VS. reviews, and he thankfully avoids cringeworthy YouTube videogame "humour".)
Looking at it running on my PC screen (the videos at least), I reckon it might lose quite a lot in translation to the small screen. It looks rather lush in its native format. Has a NiGHTS meets Sonic sort of graphical vibe about it. |

| It looks more sonic than gunstar to me. |

| A lot of the boss footage is where I draw the Gunstar parallel from. They're all ginormous! |

| I don't do PC games and don't keep up with the PC scene much because of it but that looks a excellent game. |

| Were I not snowed under with games already, and were I not doomed to play this game with the keyboard, I would've likely taken a punt on it. |

| Happy days but a release "around the end of the year" just reminds me of the pile-up of eShop releases at the end of last year. |

| The Wii U version has been delayed. Rats! This needs to get in my life (and my laptop won't run Steam. Heck, it almost runs on steam...).

| A update for you Zero, went to play after I been playing Stanley Parable seeing I had the laptop plugged into the TV. Fine watched the opening cutscene etc then soon as I got to the menu, I put the game to Full Screen to play it. Then I for some reason have lost sound, I've restarted the laptop, uninstalled the game & reinstalled, and unplugged from TV just in case it was that but I can't get any sound at all.
I played the first level which is the demo on Wii U and is still great but with out sound, it's weird to play and with the U version being still not that long away and I've got loads tom play. I will likely buy on U and play there instead. |

| I'm thinking that, with this coming to the Wii U, it should probably be moved to the Nintendo section? I know that (from feedback on demos. and the like) it's something I'd like to experience on that console. And with the thread creator AWoL, I think I may just... move it myself... |

| You can definitely tell this lends heavily from Sonic, I might even go as far as saying this looks like the game that Sonic 4 should have been, they've taken the formula and added on to it with things like the Gunstar-esque bosses and zero gravity wall running. |

| I got the volume to work with the game, and can only agree with Smurf this is Sonic 4. |

| I know that but just saying how good it is that this is better then the actual Sonic 4 and likely all the Sonics after Pocket Adventure. |

| I quite like Sonic 4 Episode 1. (Episode 2 is the most missable game of all time though). |

| It's not so much that Sonic 4 is bad, it's more that Freedom Planet plays like the next step in the Sonic series should have. |

| Yesterday I became an owner and had a quick blast this morning. The levels feel longer than Sonic but, yes, the game's development heritage is totally clear - right down to the somewhat annoying voice acting. |
