| I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Wii U, as I've said before and will say again, but I can't argue with any of the problems y'all have raised. A series of mistakes lead to a machine that wasn't quite sure what it was. All of that said, those mistakes being made are undoubtedly what taught Nintendo many of the lessons they needed to learn before creating the Switch. And that is a machine I just love in every way, before you even bring up the software.
I'd put Splatoon and Wonderful 101 on the must-haves list myself. |

| I'm not sure Splatoon is or will be a must have as the online community must be getting smaller and eventually it will get shut off leaving a okay single player mode.
Unfortunately that's how I now see the Wii U a bit like a retro console. |

| While it has an online, it undoubtedly is. Once it doesn't, I still think the singleplayer was a banger. |

| It was an of-the-time experience, too. Not only can Nintendo do online shooters, they can do them with brilliant inventiveness whilst retaining their family-friendly image. Whilst Splatoon wasn't my cup of tea, I could tell how well-made it was. |

| Certainly of-the-time experience, it will soon be 2018 and I'm looking at the Wii U be it any game now will that be great to get now and will it continue to be so. I'd still say get Splatoon but wouldn't be something I think someone should get before likes of Bayo 2, W101, SM3DW in 2018 and beyond. |

| On a related note (I think), I just ordered Just Dance 2018 on the ORIGINAL Wii for my 5-year old daughter. There was actually an advert for the game specifically for Nintendo platforms and it was weird seeing them promote it for Switch and Wii, but not the Wii-U (although all 3 cases are shown in the advert, they don't mention the Wii-U version). Not sure it will be a valuable game as it'll likely sell millions, but it's certainly a rare occasion. Only other instance I can recall is PES 2014, which was released on PS2, PS3 and PS4. |

| FIFA: Road to World Cup 98 came out on the Game Boy, the SNES and the N64, but that's not quite the same as this. My local HMV is selling the Wii and Switch versions, but not the Wii U one. Seems like nobody remembers the Wii U, nine months on. |

| I don't want to remember the Wii U, and I expect quite a few retailers are in the same boat. |

You're overestimating how well they do as the best selling one on Wii U is 750k with the worst doing 380k and I wouldn't be shocked if Just Dance 2019 comes out on Wii but not Wii U. Also PES 2014 isn't on PS4 but FIFA 14 is where it was a launch title for the PS4 along with being on PS2, PS3, PSP and VITA. |

| Reading these, it feels like some of y'all's close family members were bludgeoned to death by GamePads. |

| A GamePad killed mah paw. FULL DISCLOSURE: My 'paw' is alive and well. He is like me but twenty-six years older. He has also never interacted with a Wii U GamePad - I didn't want him to sully his hands with the controller of this very poopy console. |

| If so, I love that we're on a forum where the moody edgy bad boy uses the word 'poopy'. |

| Maybe not bludgeon, but seriously impair, definitely. It's a heavy bastard. |

| Everyone knows any piece of Nintendo hardware has to be dropped into the fighting pits and used for at least six kills before it passes the company's infamously strenuous quality control. |

| I'm very grateful for this. I dropped my Switch on a Costa floor today, with no protection bar a film screen. Survived unharmed. For a clumsy person, Nintendo's hardware standards are a godsend.

| I can see how such a misconception might happen: it's called the Wii U, after all.
'Wii name jokes? What is this, 2006?' Maybe it is and you just haven't noticed yet. Didn't think of that, did you? |

| Five years ago today that the Wii U launched, and five years ago today that I sauntered into town at 11:30am and bought the first Wii U that HMV had sold that day. I then went home and couldn't get Miiverse to work for the rest of the day. Truly, November 30th 2012 one of those 'I was there' moments in history.
Really though, I've got fond memories of the day that I got my N64, GBA, GameCube, DS, Wii and 3DS, but not of getting my Wii U. I was actually a little bit unimpressed when I first held the GamePad in my hands, and underwhelmed when I booted the system up for that thirteen-day-long System Update. Was that just me? Still, at least the launch games were good though. |

| Happy birthday Wii U. I'll put the present on your headstone there. I had the opposite experience sir! Impressed with the GamePad, deeply unimpressed by the launch games. I had only Trine 2 on launch day , and while both NSMBU and Nintendo Land were good, they weren't blow-me-down good like LoZTP, LoZBotW, SM64, Luigi's Mansion etc. etc. I had forgotten about the system transfer though, that could bog right off. Cute though the Pikmin were. That was proper Nintendo, that was: cute but you couldn't understand why they'd done it. Now we have the Switch, which is kind of the opposite. |
