Yass! The King of wrestling games is returning to ps4/PC this year. What do you think about that Suda 51?

I love Suda I've never actually played a Fire Pro, but this looks like it'll run just fine on my laptop so I'll definitely give it a go.

I've only ever played Returns on ps3 (digital version of the ps2 release) & the GBA fire pro game at any decent length, the fighting is more about getting your timing correct and building up momentum through weak/medium/strong moves - like No mercy but a little tougher to grasp.
The customisation options are just through the roof in these games as well you can basically create an entire wrestling company if you wanted, oh and they usually have a mode called "Audience match" where you basically have to work a real match.

Yeah you can set a wrestlers logic, how often they'll go for certain moves and at what time during a match, in addition to the usual move set, appearance and strength stat stuff. So unlike the wwe games its fun to watch your creations have at it without getting involved.
The fans tend to create all the wrestlers from wwe to indies so a steam version will have everyone available in no time . The prior game had a few translation errors and horrific ui in the creation menus that made it a pain to make dudes, hopefully that's fixed this time.
Also there's a match where the ring explodes.

You mean the...
EXPLODING CAGE DEATHMATCH!
Also who does a Dynamite kid vs Goldberg match? What a loony.

Clearly, somebody wanted to inflict a lot of pain on Bill Goldberg... can't think of who that might be, though.

I had a little browse of the steam wishlists regarding this game the other day and in the process of doing so came across a thread about a Famitsu Interview (I think). It claimed that the original creator of the game passed away in 2014, sadly, but that he was the only person who had any idea how the core programming worked. Basically, since the original Fire Pro, there have been things added, graphical tweaks and the like. But the fundamental programming has remained exactly the same, or the original designer was in charge of manipulating the code. They have since had a go at using the original code while trying to fix long standing bugs from Fire Pro Returns, but that just led to new bugs cropping up. So this game is going to be coded from the ground up while trying to retain the features of the older games.

That's a tad worrying so let's hope they don't make a mess of it.

A troubled history, aye, but an opportunity to advance the series too. I reckon they know what their fans will expect so I've got high hopes for it.

It looks like this is going to hit Steam Early Access in early July. I'm still very interested but won't be picking it up since it'll miss out on the big summer sale. Imagine the console version will come when it's about out of early access.

Now I didn't expect these guys not to be in it but the confirmation is nice nonetheless.

They announced at a NJPW press conference that the game will have a career mode in which you play as NJPW rookie in amongst the events of NJPW's 2017. It sounds really cool and actually has me somewhat interested in the game now.
More info here.

Oh that does sound great, especially when there's been many FP games that don't have a dedicated career mode.

The pc version finished it's early access recently. I think they'll be adding some sort of gm mode as well which could be quite interesting.
