| God damn it, now I'll have to keep my 3DS active all the way into 2018. Lickitung as secret character? |

| The best thing about this game was Bill Trinen getting folks excited by telling them about a reveal before hurriedly downplaying it as a small little thing after Twitter went into hysteria. |

| "Eat Your Heart Out, Switch Owners!"
...there's a demo out on the Switch eShop ahead of Sushi Striker's June 8th release, and everything about it makes me think it's best suited to 3DS. Still, maybe you'd want to try it for yourselves. |

| Oh bugger. Which forum does this go into? I'm acquiring it on Switch, unless it reviews like hot trash: anybody else even remotely interested (before playing the demo.)? And if so, on which machine? |

| Rule of thumb dictates that if it's on the Switch, it'll supersede anything else so we'll pop it over there. So, I'll do just that!
I'm glad there's a demo out for this - it's one I really want to try before I buy and that goes for most puzzle games, to be fair. If I'm not down with the core gameplay, there's no point me playing it. |

| Peltin people with Sushi is the only valid way to use Sushi nah it's alrightThis looks very addictive, I could very well end up putting some time into this. The last addictive puzzler I got was Pocket Jockey and this looks like it could be a game that satisfies that pick-up-could-put-down-but-just-want-to-play-one-more-level itch. |

This is correct. Not sure who first thought raw fish was an acceptable foodstuff, but they're bad and they should feel bad. |

| I tried the demo yesterday and I thought it was rubbish. Perhaps I'm missing something here but it doesn't feel much like a puzzler, more just a game of quickly randomly swiping. |

Same here, didn't seem to be much in the way of strategy, just matching up a few colours as they scrolled past. Sent from Topic'it App |

Yes in a sense but you can plan ahead in others whereas this is a bit more random I felt, basically felt like I was waiting for Sushi to just appear. Sent from Topic'it App |

| I've just finished a run-through of the demo myself. I quite liked it! The puzzling seems basic so far, but the demo only contains the first few levels, so it seems like there'll be bit more to it as you progress. I enjoyed the overblown ridiculousness of the story - the "Sushi Struggles" is brilliant stuff. I'm not sure if I can justify spending £40 on it, mind, but it's one to keep an eye on if it goes on sale. |

Indeed! It seems a bit like Naruto/Jojo x Sushi-Go-Round - no bad thing. |

| Yeah I liked the presentation of it all, I could probably watch a few shorts on the game at least and enjoy them.

| I just played through the demo and enjoyed the hell out of this in a way I definitely didn't anticipate. The gameplay wasn't especially clever or interesting, but I enjoyed myself enough. Aesthetically, though, this was bonkers anime brilliance. I was properly enjoying the sushi-savouring nonsense! - Crumpy Andy wrote:

It's about reactions and luck more than planning or intelligence, but the nature of this game meant full Meteos-style scrubbing doesn't work. I have to pay attention to what plate I start on and when i take my finger off the screen or I do nothing. |

| I know, I barely even like seafood. It has grown on me while I've been in Japan, naturally, but I'd still rather have meat or vegetables before fish. |

| My initial thoughts are: 'Why isn't there a Japanese voice option?' and 'ARGH my FINGER' in that order.
Everything I've seen about this talks up how charming the anime-style trappings are, and there's some truth in that... but my heroine's voice and inane dialogue make me want to stick a fork in my ears. It would be much more bearable if it were in Japanese, and would fit much better with the (still brilliant - stilliant) opening song. As things are, it can go wherever they stashed the Excite Truck soundtrack. Bobbins.
The battling, on the other hand, is pretty fun, and requires a bit more than people like the Crumpster made me think it would... but my poor poor index finger! Ouch. Probably would have worked better on the 3DS.
Still. Want to play more. Just don't want my hero to say another word. (That said, #MusashiforSmashBros.) |

| It sounds like this tanked at retail: http://www.gamesasylum.com/2018/06/11/vampyr-tops-uk-chart-while-onrush-stalls/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
I'm not that surprised - I was quite unimpressed with the Switch demo. There's probably more to it based on the very complimentary reviews that it got from a few of the usual places, but based on what I downloaded from the eShop, my opinion is the same as andymans. Nintendo first party games are usually sound, but that demo put me off buying the game out of curiosity, like I'd planned. It probably did a few others too. |
