I know that Zero and I own this. From the people behind Mega Man, it's a bit less jumpy so far (er, first level ), and focusses less on shooting than overloading things with electricity. The plot's a load of anime, but fairly easily ignored if you don't like anime. I do. Anyone else thinking of picking this up? Seems to have garnered a lot of 8/10s, and it's £11.63 at the moment, I think.

Looks like something I'd pick up at half price. Not my usual genre but probably worth a spin.

I played back in EGX and was okay, also you get the retro version as well but I think I will wait till it's cheaper like Andy.

I just finished the first level proper, which included a very annoying water-escape sequence - and then forgot to save. This game does not auto-save, gents!

I've just got through the tutorial level and it has so much lingo, it's like an RPG. My first impressions have been wrong before but there's a clever and fun game about to emerge, methinks. The tagging and zapping of foes gives ASG a unique and vibrant playstyle... Crikey, I sound like a press release!

| *blows dust off thread*
*cough* Ahem.
So, I bought this when it went on sale a few weeks back and played the first couple of levels. It's interesting enough so far - the challenges and gear mechanics encourage revisiting levels, and I like its combat so far although I will admit I'm a bit concerned it's going to end up just being tagging an enemy and then dodging as you blast them with electricity.
Anyone beaten this? Is it worth pressing onwards? |

Yes, I've beaten the game. It does encourage replaying levels - in fact, I would judge it essential to do so, just so you get even a semi-decent chance at the later levels. It's fun but not a life-changer. I've an eye on the sequel but no hype just yet.

I never got past the second level really. A big problem was that Gunvolt took up a lot of the screen, so I always felt somewhat cramped.

I've no issues with Gunvolt's size - it's very Mega Man in that regard, so it doesn't bother me. I shall press onwards with your recommendation, Zero. Watch this space.

As a Mega Man fan, you may get more out of it than I did. It's not my style of game.
