Australia Wants you!!

Well if anything at least one of you to come to Aus and meet myself and Xenos_Helia and even if we could time it right Old School.

I've seen the threads where you all go set up a Meet so why not make it different and meet a couple of the Aussies from this thread!

In all seriousness Xenos and I were talking about this the other day and as we still haven't met face to face despite meeting on the old Forum that it would be good to do it at some stage and would be even better if we could maybe coax one of you guys to make a trip because you want to go somewhere different where it's warm (we hardly have any rain during our Summers).

If anything all we would so is go to the Manna Bar (the gaming one) and well yeah go from there.

So who's up for it?

As much as I'd love it, a trip to Australia would probably cost me a good chunk of a deposit on a house.

It would be great to meet you guys in the flesh, but for me it's not feasible at the moment. I'd love to see some photographs if anyone made it, though.

We were talking about maybe May/Juneish 2014 for anyone interested. Shanks is looking at relocating to Melbourne at some stage and in coincides with our birthdays so....we thought big old gaming birthday bash for those interested.

given how far it is away time wise we thought it might give people an opportunity to look into how cheap it actually may be *pokes stu* and besides....the UK isn't cool enough to have gaming cocktail bars, so really....sif not come

First off, I hate hot weather. That's another one for the hates thread, actually. But I imagine it won't be too hot in May/June?

Secondly, this is the sort of thing I'd love to do, but like Stu says it'd be quite an undertaking! I'm not saying no, though, and if it's meant to be in a year and a bit that's plenty of time to prepare. Who knows: maybe the girlfriend and I could do a couply holiday down there!

I did actually go to Melbourne with family in 2011. Shame I didn't have the foresight to arrange anything.

Yeah May/June is the cold season so it's not bad here, come to think of it could even go to one of the Aussie football games

Balla, May/June is our winter so it might not be too bad heat wise. Usually less than 20C; and there'll probably be some rain thrown in there too

I'd love to visit the land which is called Australia & pick up a couple of 'Australian only'/hard to find games. And do a spot of longboarding. Wonder if they still do the £10 poms?

It is a shame you didn't yell out Balladeer, it would have been nice to have a beverage and ctach up.

As for weather, in the North West of Tasmania where I live it is very much like England most of the time. The weather doesn't go much past 25C in summer and the winters are pretty cold with snow on the hills. There are a lot of UK escapees who live in my region. I hate hot weather, which is why I move to what is the coolest part of the country.

Everyone come to Scotland - we have pubs all over the joint.

Tasmania is small enough for that as well.

Plus we have entertainment in the Bogans

We have a pool table.

Scotland's a more likely venture in the near future - in fact I'm going to Dalkeith for a week in May.

Generally speaking, it is pretty horrible. I have 2 major retail chains, KMart and Target that almost never carry the games I want, but I do pick up the odd clearance from. There is 2 major electrical stores, Harvey Norman and Dick Smith, which carry very few of the games I want, but also good for clearance. Then there is EB games, which is better for range, but only good when they have specials. If you live in Hobart, there is Big W, which is like KMart, but better, but still not great and JB Hi-Fi, which is probably the best of all of them.

I import a lot from England (Ozgameshop) and Hong Kong (Playasia). Retail is the vehicle of its own demise. If they don't carry what I want, then clearly I will buy elsewhere - then they don't get sales and they carry even less - then I buy even less, until there is nothing left.

So yeah come to my end of the state
