How long ago was this announced? And how come it's ended up being me who's made this thread? The original bored the arse off me when it was the Wii's big Christmas game ten years ago.
Still, it's clearly got it's supporters - youse ranked it fourth in your Top Ten Zelda games five years ago. I ranked Point Blank 2 first, which I still stand by.
I'm weighing up giving Skyward Sword a second chance, but it's quite rightly getting a total bodying from critics and customers alike. That's not only because it's full price, but because it's locked a helpful quality-of-life update behind an expensive amiibo that's already sold out:

I never finished Skyward Sword - I got to the Ancient Cistern (and I only remember that because of how toiletty it sounds). I have my Wii U set up if I want to play Wii games so I'm not sure I'll bother with this... though I'm interested to hear how people think it holds up, and how the motion controls translate onto a traditional button control scheme.

It was good, not fussed about replaying it really. I'll grab it if I ever see it cheap.

I feel like many of the fans who voted the original up to 4th might have been turned off by the things you mention Cappa. (That or they're Buska, who only plays games with monsters in or FromSoftware games these days. (Speaking of Buska, it's incredible in this day and age to see a vote thread he ran! It's also incredible how rude I was at the end of it. Sorry boss.))
I was never really one of those fans. I gave it a grudging 8/10, mostly for the motion controls - which in this remake are now optional. Great for disabled gamers, natch, but also great for the mass of idiots who claim that anything that even looks like motion controls should go in the bin. I maintain that those controls were the greatest thing about LoZSS and the game isn't really worth playing without them. Combine that with the pricing and amiibo decisions, the game looking largely unchanged otherwise, and my general feelings about Nintendo rehashing its back catalogue, and... yep, I wasn't going to make this thread. I absolutely rolled my eyes when the port was announced and I think they might still be spinning.
Incidentally I've been playing the Famicom Detective Club ground-up remake recently. It's also probably too expensive at £50, but given we're getting two remakey things in three months, and one's a slight tart-up of a game that didn't release so long ago that most of us will already have played, and the other's a complete remake with a lot of heart in it of something I reckon none of us have played, and they're the same price... Well, even if it's the better game, the fact that the first will sell better than the second makes me sad.

I'm not that bothered really with the game as it looks like a very basic remaster at full price, but I do normally buy anything Zelda in terms of games. The other thing is, and I've done this with the Wii U HD Zelda's, is I play something new instead most of the time if theses are better games.
Have pre-ordered the amiibo though and the Joy-Cons's look cool, but I have no use for those.

I only played the first couple of hours of Skyward Sword, but yeah, it just didn't grab me. The controls were fine - I had more issues with the world design and having to faff about with a flying bird to move between your dungeons. I quite like the art design so the remaster should look nice, but seeing the likes of IGN and Mr. Castle claiming it's a 10/10 masterpiece still makes me laugh myself to sleep some nights.

I'll be there on launch day I think, it's one I've been meaning to replay but held off because I knew a Switch port would be on the way eventually. Have pre ordered the controllers already as I need some new joycons anyway and they're so pretty and gonna pre order the game itself soon, seems a silly price to pay for a Wii game but I'm sure I'll get my money's worth, Skyward Sword was pretty darn good and stood out well for me compared to the rest of the series.

It was so booooooooooooooooring. And I like boring games. I can't believe I'm not buying a Zelda remaster. If a later things says they've made it half the size, then maybe.

Half the size and the last two dungeons have themes that aren't the same as two of the other ones.

I'd heard that Skyward Sword was about forty hours long. Truthfully, I was getting really scunnered with Wind Waker when I played through it last year, and that was only half as long. The general consensus seems to be that Wind Waker is better than Skyward Sword too?
I've got a ShopTo pre-order in - £42.86 with a steelbook and a keychain - but I'm probably making a mistake if I don't cancel that.

I finished first time in about 45hrs, and yes Wind Waker is better but that is my favourite game.

Wind Waker is a masterpiece but it also has long sections which really fucking drag. SS is a much more linear experience, which isn't a perfect solution but does avoid that problem.

Aye, that’s not sounding like something I’d enjoy much at all – and I say that as someone who’s currently sticking in at Balan Wonderworld.
I felt like I was going out of my mind during some points of Wind Waker, with strong and mixed feelings of confusion, frustration and tedium. Still, I’m happy I played it through, it was a very rewarding experience on the whole. Skyward Sword sounds like it might bend and break me though.

I got my order in for it. The bump in FPS up to 60fps is a big deal for me. Not that I have a problem with 30fps - I know that's what Botw 2 is going to be as another ambitious overworld Zelda outing - but this is the first time a 3D Zelda game is going to be that smooth. I also feel like the HD resolution is going to benefit this game more than any other Zelda. Standard def really did not do the graphical style justice at all.
I had very mixed feelings about Skyward Sword. It was really not what I wanted out of the series at the time, or at all. I didn't like the complete obliteration of the overworld's character in favour of essentially making it into a bunch of segmented outer-dungeons. I don't recall the sky area having too much going on, and I didn't like Fi. However, all that aside there was plenty I enjoyed about the game as well. A lot of stuff that I enjoy in other Zelda games.
I'm thinking maybe I'll like it more now with managed expectations (like with 3D World) and the gameplay upgrades.
On a side note the amiibo sucks. Quality of life improvements like that shouldn't be put behind a paywall like that. It's not that I desperately want the feature anyway so I can happily ignore it, but it's disappointing (doesn't matter if similar has happened before - it's still disappointing to me).

Kriken means 60fps from 30fps, that's the only upgrade part from HD that I've seen.

For some (wrong) people, the option not to use the motion controls might be a gameplay upgrade. Also, that Zelda amiibo gives you a QoL option to go back and forth.

Yep unless you're disabled that's not an upgrade. Kriken has covered my thoughts on the amiibo.

I'm cautiously interested due to it being one of the few Zelda titles that I've never actually played, but the general consensus around these parts on it being a bit of a duffer has me holding back on actually going all in on on it.
Bugger it, I might end up asking for it for a birthday/Christmas gift.

A duff Zelda which it isn't, still better than most games.

Totally fair point about a poorer Zelda game still being better than most. *brushes the CDi games under the rug*

Wasn't excited about this but post direct, with no other collections (G&W of course) or BotW2 this year, and very happy with Nintendo, I'm now very tempted to pick up.

I would have liked a WW/ TP pack on my Switch but I'm not upset by it; I'm pretty sure I have my ex's Wii U in my cupboard with both of those installed.
