| I know this is kind of selfish, and does start with a positive - after over 2 years of trying, I might finally be able to get my mortgage started on our house! But
a) I don't trust the council. Covid hasn't helped but: we put in a RTB offer in October 2019. Then Covid happened in early 2020. Then a property inspector didn't turn up until October 2020 because of said Covid. Then there was more lockdown. Then nothing. Then I started sending enquiring emails. Then the reason was because of the pandemic. Then we realised actually they were still waiting on the inspection, which meant they hadn't been given the deails from the property company. Then an energy survey guy came round. Then nothing. Then I started sending enquiring emails. Then the person from the council was waiting on their manager to sign something. Then nothing. Then I started sending enquiring emails. Then the person from the council was waiting on their manager to sign something. Then nothing. Then I actually sent a slightly shitty email* last week. Then we got the next paperwork to sign, and the person from the council said they'd note we didn't get the printed version sent a month before. Which is true. But it would have been sent from them though. So where is it? Did you send it? Also noting the header on the PDF copy says July 2021 on it. *I know I am a grumpy guy, but I do actually have trouble - even in my professional capacity - sending angry emails to people for goods and services, as I assume most people would make a mistake and are probably busy etc. - but I also know that if I said "I'll get back to you" to a client and didn't for a month, I'd be in trouble. And this is something my Mum has been trying to sort out to get on with her life since my Dad died.
b) there is an uncomfortable feeling about the Right-To-Buy process, and purchasing a council house, but
c) it's not just our generation; basically, the only way even our parents can now afford a house is that I've been working full time and deliberately saving lots for potential housing stuff for 20 years now, and have moved back with my Mum, and our combined numbers (including any bereavement-based pensions and inheritance she gets) and the massive discount because she's lived in and rented this house for over 30 years, means that we can actually afford some security. |

| Hopefully all works out in the end.
Mortgage just in your name or with ya ma? As I looked once with my Dad (be no good now with him still ill) and the mortgage had to be paid off by the time he was 70, and it made it a stupid amount a month. |

| It is a joint thing, and luckily we could sway some common sense that I would be paying most of it (although the computer wanted to limit it to a 1 year mortgage, given Mum's only got 1 more year until retirement) and I'm also very fortunate that, because of all the backlog that we've ended up with, the mortgage is quite small compared with the potential lump deposit, so it should be do-able as a replacement for the rent that is currently being paid. I feel bad for complaining so much, as I absolutely appreciate that it's much more difficult for many others - but I still feel like we're treated like "us" as opposed to "them" if you know what I mean. |

| Rum: I threw my back out a few years ago shovelling snow out of the driveway at my Dad's and remember being in bloody agony for days. Hope it clears up for you quick enough.
Jimmers: Best of luck getting the mortgage all sorted out. I'm eternally grateful I got mine sorted out a few months before the world collapsed in on itself - being stuck in an endless email chain would do my head into no end, so I can sympathise with that there! |

| Makes it easier to know who to block, I guess.
I mean, if you're expecting anything other than a burning pile of shit from twitter.com I'd like to introduce you to some German political thinkers from the 30s and 40s you apparently haven't heard of. Twitter is always helping them out. |

| If you're referring to the Nazis, Twitter Dot Com has taught me that actually they were called the National Socialists and therefore were left-wing. Another example of the woke left ruining things for all Europe. |

| Most things piss me off at the moment to be honest. However, I hope it's known that my angry comments of late are playing on this slightly; I should state that this forum feels like an island of human decency in a shit sea world. |

| We feel you man. I think we've known each other long enough now that a couple of grumpy posts won't taint an opinion of another forumite. When I log in and see you've posted "old games are shite and if it ain't HD it's H Wee" I'll know those aren't real opinions. |

| I reckon Jim's going to go the other way around when he snaps. Rolling into Argos, smashing up the Switches and PS5s with a baseball bat, pushing Amigas and NESes onto shelves in their places, and yelling 'PIXELS OR PISS'. |

| Balla, you seem like exactly the kind of teenager who would have been obsessed with Eddie Izzard's Dress to Kill show. |

| He just passed me by entirely I'm afraid. Actually I think I lie slightly and I've seen maybe one or two of his skits (as a by-product of friends going 'I LOVE HIM SO MUCH'), and... didn't think much of them. |

| The symptoms keep changing! Throughout the past few days I've been feverish, had chills, sore throat, coughs, sneezes... today it seems to have settled on a phlegmy cough (nice) and a sore throat, the kind where it hurts to swallow. So just like a cold really, now. I think I caught it when I went through to Glasgow to see a show on Sunday because two of my friends who I went with also now have covid, and the other two I went with are the ones who had covid before.
Feels like it was inevitable I'd catch it eventually - but I managed to avoid it for about two years! |

| Argh, rubbish. Sorry Rum. Hope it passes off soon, and that it doesn't get any worse than a bad cold. We'll all be joining you soon, now that all the restrictions are being binned. |

| First world problems: 'Hi, you know those drinks you booked for the two of us? I'm going to have to cancel at minimal notice, I'm at a hen do that was announced two days ago and the murder mystery's overrunning horribly so I'm going to have to cancel, is that okay?' |

| Had my booster at the start of this week, and while my initial two vaccines didn't do much to me, this one knocked me for a loop. Tuesday night I basically didn't sleep for fever dreams and cold sweats, which meant Wednesday I was mega tired and slept like 10 hours, which then meant I wasn't tired Thursday night and basically didn't sleep. Throw in the fact I've not been going to the gym and burning off some physical energy and my sleep pattern is a real mess.
Also, got an inflamed Lymph Node on the collarbone of the arm where I was jabbed. Apparently quite normal, but still a bit uncomfortable. |
