I thought we would have a thread for this, but after a very brief search I couldn't find anything. I guess it was all in the Gnamer Videos Games thread?

Anyway!

@buska Laughing That also made me think that you would honestly kill it as a streamer with all the wacky shit you do.

I'm gonna start streaming with Pokémon Shining Pearl, this Friday at 8pm UK time. I think Smurf and Mas have done a little streaming? I know Muss' girlfriend is doing a little. We should make sure to all follow one another, and share tweets or whatever, and do that thing where if I'm not streaming my channel shows y'all's channels and so on.
If you or a loved one has a Twitch channel, drop it in this thread and I'll make sure to get involved and I'll try to update this post with a list.

  • twitch.tv/lukelovespkmn Buska
  • twitch.tv/starmuss Muss
  • twitch.tv/coffeestarbooks Muss' girlfriend Kelly
  • twitch.tv/treesmurf Athrun888
  • twitch.tv/sntnl6 Jimbob's best bud Arthur

I do stream. Well, I haven't for a few months because there's some hardware problem with my computer that causes it to crash under load, but I probably will start streaming again in December when the people who built it for me repair it. StarMuss is my handle. I usually stream turn-based games because it's easier to play and talk, but like I said I haven't touched it in a while because my computer is faulty.

You can follow my girlfriend at Coffeestarsbooks. She does it like 3 times a week and is currently playing The Sims 4, Dragon Quest Builders, and Animal Crossing. She is a Twitch affiliate now, so she gets to have all those fancy buttons and what not on her stream.

Between us we both use ODS/Streamlabs, and elgato capture cards. So if yall need help with any of those things chances are one of us knows the answer.

I got a cheap and nasty capture card for the time being, but it seems like it will do the job for a basic bit of Pokémon. I tried Twitch Studio but it was crap, so I'm also on OBS.

Yeah I use Streamlabs OBS personally, but my partner uses regular old OBS. I prefer the ui for streamlabs but they're both fine. You even if you don't use the streamlabs software, you should make use of their bots. You can create plenty of chat commands through it and other stuff .

Gave you all a follow. My Twitch name is unsurprisingly Treesmurf. It's all very basic at the minute, I only have the means to stream via the PlayStation, have tried with an Elgato in the past but I've never had the PC to make it work.

I also have no kind of schedule but having a toddler who shouts me in the middle of the night just to straighten out her duvet naturally means I can't always stick to the plan anyway. I did start a playthrough of Returnal which I'm gonna get back to soon now that I can save in the middle of a run, other than that I've got a number of either Spooky or Silly games waiting in the wings for when I do make it a more regular thing.

I have now followed all of you!

I don't do any streaming (I occasionally thought about preparing a lecture about old British videogames of the 80s, but don't think, when I ask "any questions?" there will be any questions); however, I would shout out my best bud Arthur aka sntnl6 at twitch.tv/sntnl6 - he plays a lot of old-school point-and-click adventure games. 2022 is apparently to be the year of FMV...

I used Twitch to STREAM Killzone 2 the other day as it was easier to do that, then download it for YouTube then saving the file to PC in the first place.

Andi Hamilton has been watching my streams and shouting me out. Some South African lad has become my no 1 fan. Usually I just have the one live viewer and then a few people checking out the VODs later, either on Twitch itself or the later Youtube upload.

Enjoying myself enough that I reckon I'll pick up a semi-decent capture card in the new year to replace the temperamental USB dongle I've been using.

Good to hear, I've not been able to make many of your streams but have enjoyed what I've watched whether it be on Twitch of YouTube so good to see you're enjoying it too.

Cheers boss!
It's getting a bit long so I may put together a little highlights package of bits I thought were funny or interesting at some point.

It might be easier for you as someone who's used to editing but I find clipping highlights on Twitch a real pain, I much preferred when Jay clipped a few for me last time I streamed and I didn't have to do anything.

It's dead easy when you're watching live on Twitch as Twitch does it all for you - it's like saving a clip on your Switch or PlayStation.

I've been streaming a lot of dead by daylight these past few days. Have been gaining about 7 followers per day over the last three streams, which is really cool.

But I'm averaging over 3 viewers whilst streaming, so I hit all the criteria for affiliate bar the total number of followers (50). It's been a positive start to the new year for sure.

I don't think I've been regular enough to build many followers, but maybe I'll add a couple of midweek sessions.

I've been focused on trying to stay positive while streaming, treating it as if every person I play against is a friend. DBD is an online game so if you slap TV in your username you will get players you played with hopping in to say hi from time to time. It's free advertisement without any networking being required.

My partner and her friends stream as well, but the amount of networking some of them do is insane to me. It's like they are always on twitch dropping into channels to say hi, etc. They have their own discords as well. That's too much of a commitment for me! But learning from how they welcome people in and stuff like that has been really helpful.

When I play killer in DBD, I try to play it in such a way that I think will let everyone have fun, say nice things about the people I play against, especially when they come in. Compliment something they did in the match. I'm not super good at the game, but generally good enough to win/come close to winning whilst playing the game without being ruthless and I think that has helped a lot. I've found nothing but good will so far, which has been very nice. I was a bit worried about people being toxic because that game has a lot of bad eggs in it too.

Some strangers have dropped by to say hi each time I've streamed since they followed (one is South African too by coincidence), and have even asked about a schedule (which I don't have yet either). When things like that happen it's a really nice ego boost.

Yeah I don't think I'll commit to that level, certainly not any time soon. But if I branch out into online games I'll take your advice on board.

As with everything, I mostly just care about having fun myself - whether my audience is enjoying themselves is immaterial to me.

I think if you're enjoying yourself, then any potential viewers will enjoy that too. I know there's definitely a market for seeing people rage and foam at the mouth playing games, but I don't think that's the sort of audience I'd personally want to foster if I ever streamed.
