Anybody play minecraft / know any good servers / thought about starting a GNamer server?

I do, and think it's a cool idea. However, my internet connection regularly conks out for a fraction of a second, so you don't want me being the server!

I think its a great idea to start a server but we'd need more than the 3 of us. I also don't know anything about starting a server... I can build boats though...

I would love to play some minecraft again but my laptop is still out of commission.

Does anybody know any good servers we could hijack peacefully participate in?

I am completely overwhelmed by that list. I know nothing about servers but could you get whatever runs this site to also run a minecraft server? Or would that cost a bajillion dollars?

We're on a free service here, so we couldn't really add an MC server.

We could selfhost, if anyone has a spare box knocking about they don't mind leaving on 24/7.

Is there not a free hosting thing somewhere? Unless it disappeared...

I don't care about the game, not in the slightest - but millions of others do. And Nintendo-specific content is nice enough.

Honestly this is a case of far too late to really matter.  Minecraft is available on everything, and its been years.  This should have come out years ago if at all.


Yeah yeah, being negative again, but really, I'm just disappointed that after all that "we're announcing something big!" hype this is their announcement.  It's like being offered a box of gourmet chocolates and finding they only included bog standard milk chocolate.

It was obviously going to be Minecraft they announced. "Big announcement" teased by a Nintendo guy who looks after indie games (and not anywhere else), following Minecraft appearing for WiiU on the ratings board.

I think it's a great move for Nintendo. Minecraft is still a massive seller, and it's a great thing to have on the WiiU for their target audience. Yes it should have happened ages ago, but at least it's here now!

Does it have any online mutliplayer capabilities? If so, I'd be tempted to pay for the WiiU version to craft with yous-guys...

Thirded, although I am terribly unlikely to get it. I hope it helps sell a few Wii U's, mind, although I reckon you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's able to justify getting one now that Minecraft's on it.

Shouldn't this be in General as it's on everything.

On the game it self, I've never played and this seems to be at least in North America the most expensive version at $30 and I can but it on everything else for $20 or less.

People that want to play it, more then likely have that all I can say is to little to late but it may it comes to NX where it may make more difference being a new console.

I did find it weird seeing Xbox's Major Nelson tweet about it though.

Why? We're specifically talking about the Wii U version more so..

I may get it depending on if or who else gets it as yeah I wouldn't mind having a build with people

Apart from what Shanks said, the others are Nontendo consoles. Hence it's here.

At the moment because it's news but are really going to be playing it on the Wii U, I'm certainly not if I can get £10 cheaper on PS4 and peeps already have it.

Hence why I general Balla as it's on Wii U and Nontendo but I reckon we will have all forgotten about it by the end of January that it doesn't really matter.

Well then after we've all forgotten about it this thread can go away slowly. It doesn't matter if people buy it or not we are talking about it

Microsoft own it, so they'll make money on it regardless of what platform it sells on.

As for the game itself, if you can get a regular GNamer crew building and adding to a world, I reckon you'll really enjoy it. I liked it, but the issue was that I barely had a chance to play it with somebody. It's not the best by yourself.

I know, it just something that's a little odd to see.

I'm quite interested in this, more so for how it'll use the gamepad but aye we could actually build our very own GNamer towers in it.

WHY WOULD YOU NOT.

Frankly they should have spent their time on this rather than the Nintendo content. A simple obvious way to improve the experience that only the Wii U could deli- "NO LET'S JUST PORT IT OVER." Bloody ridiculous.

MS of course have a conflict of interest here. Maybe they don't want the Wii U to have the best version.
