Final Fantasy is back with the fifteenth installment in the long running RPG franchise, formerly known as versus XIII the game has been rebranded and is now the next major installment in the franchise. The trailer:
So, thoughts? Personally I'm pretty excited, however X has trumped it for me.

General gaming surely?
Either way it looked fantastic from what I saw and I'm pretty excited for it.

I bought XIII on the 360. Would have bought XIII-2 on the 360 too, if I'd bothered to go out and get it.

I forgot we had this thread but looking of sales of Type-0 I think I was right as 78% of it's sales were on PS4, so like COD is to Xbox FF is still very much associated with PlayStation brand.
But reason I popped in was to say I've been playing the Episode and it's great.

Out september 30th this year!
I'll admit I'm not exactly sold on the whole boyband tour idea, and the cars seriously clash with the whole fantasy world thing, but still, this is actually coming out and doesn't look half bad!

That it's managed to find itself a release date at all is something of a miracle in itself. I just hope it's a corking and uncontroversial RPG now... I remember the discussions we had about Cid a while back.

Preordered the deluxe verions of the game, me and EofGiz have done Pod of War V and it's about FFXV, if you want hear us talk about all the news.
Now to finish my second play of Duscae and then play Platinum.

I'm pretty up for this, it looks different from most JRPGs. And it's out just after my birthday, that seems like destiny!

Double post
I finished Duscae again, it's still decent then I tried Platinum which is a cool tech demo. They have changed the controls and battle system slightly, from both things.
I prefer Platinum's battle system which now feels more like a Kingdom Hearts which makes sense with Nomura & Tabata on FFXV.
If you listened to me and EofGiz on PoW and playing these things in the FFXV world along with watching the first part of the anime, that FFXV might be my most anticipated game of the year now.

Triple Post (I'm sorry)
Anyone else playing this? I'm just over 6hrs in but only at the start of chapter 3 as I actually want to do side quests and help the likes of Cindy out. If the games quality continues over the next 20+ hours the this could be my Game of the Year.
It feels like MGSV on how and a established series took ideas from western games and implemented them in away that works and this is the same, it still feels like a JRPG but with Western RPG styling.
Also they both may weakish stories, I enjoyed MGSVs as I'm invested in that series but I know others didn't and it was the gameplay they loved and it was the journey to the end which why it was so good and FFXV could very well be the same.

I'm under pretty strict instructions that I'm not allowed to play it until Jess is finished, I'll obviously try and nick it, but y'know...

Why can't you play it, is she worried you'll pass her and you'll spoil something.

I'm now halfway in terms of chapters or 12 hrs in, depending on how you want to look at it.
The game continues to maintain its quality and still on course to possibly be my game of the year but hearing things like a update is coming which will improve the story especially Chapter 13, I'm a little weary that it may go down in my expectations.

I did end up starting it in the end and have enjoyed what I've played, just haven't got the time to get stuck into anything at the moment and have been opting for a the odd blast of Picross 3D R2 instead.
I do find the content of their patches to be a little odd, I wish we had more of a timeline as I think I'd rather just hang on for some of it.

Well this being possibly my GOTY went out the window when I hit f'ing chapter 13 also a lot of questions I now have are unanswered which I doubt they will be in the course of the remainder of chapter 13 & 14.

I've heard rumblings of a Mass Effect 3 story-fix patch coming for FFXV, right?

Their is one coming soon which will fix chapter 13 but not sure how they can it and they're adding in some more cutscenes to expand on some characters and plot holes but those will take longer to get patched in then the chapter 13 fix due to voice work etc
Some of the missing parts I reckon will part of the stuff listed in the season pass which includes DLC named after the boys.

I see Jay has been playing this a lot and might be even able to platinum it, anyone else been playing also we are hearing rumblings about the DLC and we might be abel to play as Lunafreya Nox Flueret, Iris Amicita, Aranea Highwind and Cor Leonis which be great if we can in the DLC packs as I do really like the game but not sure if I can really drive myself to do 80 side quests like Mr Jay has.

I've put a ridiculous amount of time into this since Christmas Day. I'll have a bit more to say on this once I've nabbed the platinum, but I think at its core this is easily the best Final Fantasy game. It's got its flawed moments - looking at you, Chapter 13 and Pitioss Ruins - but the rest of the game more than makes up for it.
I'm looking forward to the DLC, but they were a bit shameless with it, I reckon.
Mid-game spoilers:
"Oh, I'm just going to disappear for a chapter and return with a big scar across my face. What happened? Well, you'll just have to buy the Season Pass to find out!"

Spoiler:
Some of that is meant to be getting fixed as well with the patches which mainly goes for Ravius but hey playing a mission or two as Iris to find-out what happend to Gladio is sort of cool .
