| ahh I see, my annoyance was just heightened by the fact this is the second game (that I've been really looking forward to) in two days to get a release in the US. |

| IGN's Colin has reviewed SK giving it 9.0 saying it's his favourite game of 2014 (so far).
Of course we have to wait in the EU for WiiU & 3DS but PC version might be available. |

| Glad it's seemingly excellent, rather looking forward to this.
Shame the EU ratings are holding it back. From what I've heard, for PEGI you need to send in a disc of footage of your game to get it rated, so that's probably holding it back. |

| Ach, really? That's the hold-up? One look at the trailer tells me that it's not going to be full of swearing and nudity! But they have to do it the proper way, I suppose... |

| Yep, judging from comments made by Nicalis and Renegade Kid: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/02/nicalis_wed_like_to_support_europe_but_nintendo_doesnt_make_the_process_easy
Though note both of them aren't exactly known for their output in Europe anyway, with many releases from both which they never bothered submitting for European release by the looks of things, but I can see how what they say would slow down an EU release. |

| I'm not convinced its just the ratings that are the problem here (especially with Nicalis) take cave story's e shop release for example there was a 19 month gap between the NA and European releases, acquiring ratings might be slow, but that slow? I have big doubts about that, something clearly isn't right though but it can't just be one thing that's the cause. Anyhow I seen the Shovel knights devs tweet to someone its "at the tail end of EU development" & that to me suggests possible translation issues.......maybe? Even though it doesn't seem like a game that will be heavy on story. |

| Agreed, that's why I attribute their complains as to why they didn't bother with an EU release at all, rather than the speed of obtaining an EU release (definitely true in the case of Cave Story and Mutant Mudds Deluxe). VVVVVV seems to be an exception, perhaps it was done so Terry Cavanagh can actually play his own game!
It probably is a translation thing, that would require more development time for sure.
As for Shovel Knight, I'm not entirely sure after reading a few reviews. Apparently nearer to the end of the game it goes to the 'wrong' sort of difficult, which I'm not a fan of, despite loving difficult 2D platformers (Super Meat Boy is one of my favourites, and is entirely fair bar one boss). Hm. |

| Yahtzee compares SK favourably to Dark Souls. Stop that, Jas, we have a twelve-year-old user on here. |

And plenty of users who are mentally twelve years old. Hehe, "butt". |

| Hey that is neat. With your AAA publishers, so many other companies are involved, I imagine the red tape is so thickly wound that it's impossible to be as transparent about things as Yacht Club. I could get this on Steam, but I'm totally waiting for the WiiU release - with this info, I'm happy to. |

| Might be some good news, this has been rated down under and as both there's and our EU shop is the same. It might be coming soon or might just a be a weird one off they get first like scribblenauts which remember was on the EU store same time as in Aus but then taken down. |

| Well, the status page I posted above shows they are both in the same phases (final testing, certification then prep & release) & given that two of those are externals steps it might still be a while off as long as that page is being kept up to date. |
