| So after the leaked pictures a few weeks back this now has some proper (looped) game play so I think it deserves its own thread now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj0PGVICJsU Also in my mind this confirms that it isn't a souls game even though the similarities are clear to see, I just don't think they'd put a shotgun into that style of game & it the main character doesn't look user created to me but someone who will have a backstory.

I don't agree with that. I don't see how you can think that it might not be user created - could just be a specific set of gear. And as for a shotgun, eh, I don't think that outright confirms it not to be Souls either, considering that it'd operate similarly to a crossbow. I could be wrong though, but the existence of fog gates and Souls-style combat still marks this out to be a Souls title. We'll see at E3! |

That could just be that they're using the Souls engine to prototype new stuff. |

| Eh, it still rings as being a Souls game as it seems they've designed the game around those features - why include them in a teaser otherwise? I'd predict this being a disparate title from Demon's or Dark Souls, but a Souls title nonetheless. |

| I think the main thing that makes me think it isn't (a souls game) is why would they split up the development teams and make two alongside each other? It just seems a bit counter-productive & one would suffer..................but as you said I guess we will see at e3.
Anyhow whatever it turns out to be I'm quite excited for it. |

Fair point. That's not to say DS2 suffered much, and with the DS1 guys working on Project Beast, I can't see that suffering either. But, all this is conjecture based off a 30 second teaser, so roll on E3! |

| Roll on indeed. I still couldn't help myself from reading up on dark souls related things (for any interviews etc) & I found this statement from Mr Miyazaki pretty interesting: - Mr Miyazaki wrote:
- I wouldn’t really care for Dark Souls VIII to come out. That’s not the point, It’s more, ‘What do the fans want?’ We want to stay true to what they expect.

| Looks a lot like a Souls game to me, the shotgun does look a little odd but if it's demon souls 2 that was quite awhile ago that it might not matter there just using the name to help sales and promote it instead of calling it something else. |

| That's a possibility but if it is something new I wouldn't worry about its potential sales as from soft have a pretty dedicated fan base, as they wouldn't exactly say no if it wasn't a souls game. |

| Fromsoft have really established themselves with the three Souls titles so, as Jas said, they won't suffer saleswise if it's something new. |

| Seems a bit suspicious that only 19 seconds of gameplay was leaked. |

| So this is in fact a new IP called Bloodborne by From soft and I'm really glad it is as I didn't want to end up possibly burnt out on the souls series, still seems a long way off with just a 2015 time frame but I'm excited to see more whenever that may be.

| Reports from folk who've seen this in action have said that it's obviously Souls-style in terms of gameplay, but with more of a Gothic Horror theme. Also, and I'll chalk this up to it being early in development, the framerate was supposedly Blighttown-on-consoles-but-worse levels of bad. |

| The game is down for 2015 though so perhaps a sign of them struggling with new hardware? |

| Maybe. I hope they can get to grips with and up the framerate to an acceptable level otherwise they'll get panned for it. |

| So yeah, it's basically a Souls game in all but name then.
Also, I can see what the early reports were saying about the framerate... |

| I had to laugh a wee bit at the guy saying the fighting mechanic is different as you have no shield & have to use rolling to your advantage, looks great though. |

| It does look very good! A darker tone - at least visually - than the other Souls titles, which I didn't even think was possible. |
