| I thought the trailer was bloody brilliant. I have never played Minecraft and my only real knowledge of it comes through having taught in a secondary school briefly.
Don't get me wrong, it'll be dead weird having them in Smash but they seem to have a captivating move set which brings something unique to the table. |

| Who would have thought, Nintendo went for the most popular game in the world that kids know and love instead of an obscure Mario RPG villain. Are they idiots or something? Never gonna sell.
I've told myself I'll buy the Fighter Passes when I finish everyone's classic mode, so I'll play Steve eventually I guess. I know some of my students are gonna lose their minds at this, even if us old farts don't care. |

| It's definitely weird that they'd add characters that essentially change the whole game in the second season of DLC. That makes me happy in a way, in that Mr. Sakurai still just wants to do crazy stuff. |

| Well up for this, like everyone else I don't have much experience of Minecraft but it's an interesting character and he feels he'll totally fit in with the roster. Also the "Final Destination, Steve Only" ruleset is gonna be the new thing to separate the men from the boys. |

Getting strong 'retiring after this (but won't be able to stop myself from sticking my oar in because I love this mess)' vibes from Sakurai from all of this. |

| I bought both Fighter Passes so Steve appeared on my Smash Bros roster the other day. I haven't read up on how his moves work and honestly I find him quite tricky! I've definitely SDed myself a couple of times from flubbing his Up+B move, but have also managed to pull off some big hitters with his Down+B and Side+B moves too.
Interesting how Steve, Terry, Hero and Joker all have some kind of bar that you can fill up and deplete as you're playing. Wonder how many of the upcoming fighters will have that too. |

| Steve is a weird one to play as - still getting my head around upgrading his tools and how all of his moves work. He looks plain odd in the game as unlike all the other characters in the game, he's not been "Smashified" as such and almost looks out of place.
I missed out on the reveal chat, but I will say that it's bloody brilliant to have Minecraft turning up in Smash and only adds to the utterly bonkers roster that SSBU has accrued. |

| I had a go as Steve yesterday. Uh... what's going on? This might be too complicated for an old man like me. At this rate, my prediction for the next DLC character is... Football Manager. |

| I reckon my guess for a sentient console is still on the way, but given Nintendo's current rate of multiplat characters it'll be the Game Gear for some reason. |

| New character tonight, then, announced by Geoff Keighley at the Geoff Keighley Game Awards. £10 of your money on it being Geoff Keighley. |

| I'm just reminded again that I had a plan to actually play some FF games but I never really got around to it. |

And there's the next tagline. Anyway, it's nice to see an anime swordsman in Smash. I feel that demographic's quite underrepresented as things stand. |

| I mean, Sephiroth is THE anime swordsman. They've peaked in that regard now. Still, memes aside, Sephiroth is a whopper inclusion. Sakurai said in his presentation that he's one of the biggest video-game villains and I think that's very true. You couldn't escape his name on mid 2000s forums with the likes of GameFAQs having at least one xXSephirothxX amongst their ranks. The early access Sephiroth Challenge is a great idea too. Unlocking characters is one of the best things about Smash and whilst they can't exactly do that with DLC, this is a great compromise. He's a right strong bastard too. I think he might end up being my main, to the surprise of no-one. |

| I'm shocked at you, Jay. Picking the edgiest character on the roster? That's not your style. |

| I hope we get a GOTY version of SMASH when all the characters are out as likes as Sephiroth make me tempted to get the game. |

Mathematically, a smaller percentage of what you're paying for will be Konami at that point. |

| He's fuelled by pure edge, he'll live forever. Really enjoyed the Spirit Board they put out for Sephiroth. The Barret spirit made me smile. |
