| Hi all
I remember there was a previous topic about this elsewhere; I assumed there was one of these already in this one. If this needs to be moved/removed, please do so, o magic admins.
On Monday morning, one of my workmates asked if anyone wants to be involved in a GameJam. Next thing you know I'm downloading Unity and learning C#. Luckily 3/4 of the guys are 3D modellers, so I don't have to do any drawing! I'll try and get a Grackler reference in, but it might be difficult to explain to the others. |

| Lad! Delighted to read this. Some lovely stuff has come out of past game jams; hope you have a brilliant time. Good luck and good skill. |

| Aw, thanks everyone! We've got an idea, but have now got to decide and make everything else. Plus we work for a 3D design company so might be completely burned out at the end of a working day . |

| I'm fairly sure this makes you the best forumite by default. Here we are, on a forum based around gaming of the Nintendo variety, and you're programming a game. Impeach Rum, Jimbob for Forum President! But seriously sir, best of luck. I hope we'll all give it a play. (Unless it's an FPS.) |

| That's very kind of you, but yes I think there are 3 or 4 peeps that actually know how to make games already on this forum!
Plus I don't think I can put a Grackler in, in the 3 week timescale.
But yeah, I'm sure I'll send it round to play once it's done (If it's done!) |

| Right. OK. Look. We probably thought that, with 8 of us, we'd have a 20 hour completely finished experience. However, the "trouble" with professional 3D modellers is that they thought properly about how everything should look. So it's an aesthetically-cohesive 2 and a half minutes of game. which is here Before you ask: no, none of those voices are me. |

| I found the game I think https://dast-745137.itch.io/super-cut I'll give it a play now
Game Jams are literally the best part of game development. I've participated in a few and had a lot of fun each time. I've done the global game jam each year these past two years, which is a game jam that's done over a weekend in January. The games I've made from them are here: https://globalgamejam.org/users/nathan-garrett Click to crash went really well, but we tried to go to far with sorcerer's guild and it came out a bit crap. And our artists were a bit absent too. You're welcome to "play" them. I made a game last year in a separate jam that I was really proud of but I can't seem to find it right now. Perhaps we as a forum could make a game? We may not have any games artists but if any of you can do 2d art and/or sprite sheets we could do a basic platformer or something. It wouldn't be anything spectacular but we'd have a game. |

| Good luck getting it to happen... but if it does, I'll merrily be on soundtrack duties.
You might also have a fight over who does the voice acting. As probably the poshest man here, I'm up for doing the villain. |

| Excellent - I will check out your work shortly Mr Duck.
In truth, I too feel, in retrospect, a bit disappointed with the things that weren't finished i SuperCut, given that we had a month. It seemed that some people (who are professional 3D model creators, but not for games) took a bit too long in creating what were essential components. |

| Double post! I am doing another Game Jam. This is the weekly game jam, so I'll be done by Thursday. This one. I'm going solo this time, due to not being able to guarantee times I can so stuff. Therefore it's not going to be as good as anything made by Nintenduck/EofGiz/OrangeRakoon/anyone else who can program that I've forgotten sorry.
I think I know what my game is going to be (typically mundane and stupid) but am desperately trying to think up some other ideas before too long. |

| I will do my best to play anything you make Jim! But, er, don't ask me for ideas. (Beyond 'Jim should make a JRPG because he'll do something interesting with the format because he generally doesn't like 'em'.) |

It isn't - but that was a good idea... I wonder if they'll suspect anything if I submit a game with a sequel number in it. - Balladeer wrote:

I keep thinking about this - but the trouble is they take even longer to make than they do to play! My current prototype will be about 5 minutes long, and I don't know how I'll get it done. |

| Shit. I fucked it. I got a migraine yesterday which basically took me out for over 24 hours. I could've tried to crunch this afternoon, but I'd already declined to do something learning-wise for work because of said head issues, so couldn't well go and do this instead. Therefore I've bowed out for the time being, and will probably have to spend subsequent furlough time doing work-related training rather than this. I will keep working on it after hours (when not Animal Crossinging) though, and therefore should be able to show a decent-sized game than the current one. It really does take 5 minutes, and that's if you stand still for 2 of those minutes to read the dialogue (cut-scenes are for cunts). - Visual proof I tried:
