| I made a change in the settings where you can't change Pokemon before a trainer sends out a new one, the same as in PvP battles. I'd never noticed this setting before so not sure if it's new it or not but it makes some difference in the challenge at least.

| Every Pokemon game has that, since the originals! There are a lot of people who swear by set as the only way to play for a real experience.
I can understand why they cut the gambling, but at least let us play an arcade game! |

| Yes I've always played them as Set! Re. the Game Corner, it wasn't even the lack of games that most bugged me in recent releases (although that's pretty ridiculous for a Game Corner) - it's the inability to buy coins. Trying to rack them up via Voltorb Flip was nightmarish.
Much like Pokémon Tower, where I am now![/segue] The Fighting Dojo was fun, especially my Clefairy 1v1ing most of them. |

| Very much enjoyed the Cinnabar Gym. Just arrived at Viridian to take on my 8th gym leader.
Some thoughts:
I like not having to battle wild Pokemon, and the catching method is pretty neat. I don't like the fact you can't turn off the exp share effect though. It makes it difficult to even out levels in your team (and I'm quite anal (haha) about having them all within a couple of levels of each other). I also miss abilities and hold items. I agree the Game Corner is bum, and it's sad that you can't cycle or fish. The Eevee move tutor moves are nice and make up for being forced to use Eevee but the names are ridiculous (Baddy Bad? Come the fuck on).
That said, it looks lush. It brings back memories of 8 year old me playing RBY for the first time. It's pleasingly self aware and stuff like the legendary fights are well done. Lavender Town and the abandoned mansion in Cinnabar are nicely redone and I like that they've stuck with the no HMs thing.
Anyone free tonight to trade my ruddy Graveler? Drunka has kindly offered but I keep forgetting about the 9 hour time difference... |

| I hope we can make it work- I've got a couple of my own trade evolutions as well.
So I did Silph Co last night, which is still a Herculean effort but it was pretty cool. I've also been exploring a lot so I'm now in a position where I've opened every gym but I only have three badges. Kanto is my Cloyster.
In other news, I love the expanded role of Cubone and Marowak, my favourite G1 monsters. |

| I haven't looked up which Pokemon you can ride (because the internet is a dangerous and unruly place), so it was nice to see that one of my team unexpectedly turned out to be rideable (steady). - And that pogey is...:
Starmie!

| If I can't ride the Rapidash I'm currently shooting for (sorry Charizard, but you've still got Ember) there is no justice.
Routes 12-15 are loooooong. I'd forgotten just how long. |

| Spoiler: Yes you can but why would you want to when you already have Snorlax?

| He's a slow lad. For getting somewhere in a hurry, it's nice to have another option. EDIT: I co-opted another riding Pokémon into my party, sick of Dodrio - only to figure out that - Spoiler:
my Charizard's been riedable the entire time! D'oh. Back in the party with you, Rabbie!

| My girlfriend bought the let's go switch bundle (which comes with the pokeball and the pikachu version) as it was in a clearance at argos, so I picked up the eevee version the other day. I was a bit on the fence before playing but this is really good.
It's the pokemon game I imagined as a youngster joey |

| I got Let's Go Pikachu for Christmas! 26 hours in and on victory road B)
This game is full nostalgia bait, and there are some neat additions too. There are also some not-so-neat changes, like no more fishing rod. What? |

| I didn't actually mind the lack of fishing: I thought it got in the way of the actual catching a bit in the main series. It wasn't any more fun, not really. It does really bring the world to life a bit though, doesn't it? |

| I just think that the statue fishing glitch is hard coded into the fabric of our reality whenever Nintendo go back to kanto. At last that's what Brian Cox told me at the pub.
Maybe Nintendo just didn't want to reveal this secret of the universe, but Brian's a maverick so he told me for free. |

| Judging a newly caught pokemon is also the most tiresome UX I've ever seen in a game. Using fly comes in close second. |

| Ooft yes, you're not wrong. Fly is the one HM that's got less easy to use as the series has gone on, for some odd reason.
Who's your fave monster to have out of its ball, OR? |

Who's your fave monster to have out of its ball, OR? It's baffling, isn't it? There are a few standouts (that Snorlax riding... amazing scenes), but my pick is Slowbro. I just love that big dumb lumbering buffoon. I had my parasect following me for a long while too (I have a soft spot for that pokemon and his wiggle) but switched him out once I got slowbro. Lapras is infinitely better when surfing than anything else, but it's a bit of a bother having to put her into my party and then selecting her to ride, so I just end up on my mysteriously powered surf-board (which I can't really complain about). |

| I never had a Slowbro. Or a Lickitung. I feel left out. Venonat is still just the happiest little chappie, though. |
