Team Sonic Racing

Ooft! Walmart ripping the pish! They leaked the newest Sonic Racing game before SEGA or Sumo Digital formally had the chance. Anyway, it's official now:



That, in all fairness, is a shite trailer. But it's a safe bet that it'll be a good game. This is Sumo Digital's third attempt at this, so I'm hopeful that they've perfected their Mario Kart-meets-OutRun 2 formula. I've got great expectations for this after the brilliant Wii and Wii U prequels - how about youse?

I genuinely can't wait for this! I played the Wii U game to death!

Little disappointed that it's looking like just Sonic and friends in the spotlight rather than Sega in general, but if they come out with a single player as good as transformed and an actually playable frame-rate I'm well up for this.

Aye, I quite enjoyed transformed on wii U so I'll be keeping an eye on this..........oh I wonder if it's double dash-esque since it's called Team Sonic racing.

I'm well up for this and the one on Wii U, I remember we played a lot at launch and always a game I'd rank highly on the U for multiplayer. I'm going to give that ago again as it's just be added to Games for Gold.

On Racing, and what Jas brings up, yeah it's team-based racing not in a double dash with two peeps in a car but more like these guys are racing for Team Sonic and this one Team Shadow getting points based on where the racers place from what I gather.

Think F1, Sonic is Lewis and Team Sonic is Mercedes.

I hope we do get some Sega guest characters popping up as I'd much rather play as Joe Musashi and Billy Hatcher than Charmy the Bee and the rest of Sonic's guff pals.

Still, the actual racing was cracking and compared to other power-up racers out there, it didn't come across as a pale imitation of Mario Kart but instead as something that could easily stand shoulder to shoulder with MK and not look out of place. It'll be worth a look, I reckon.

I'm not sure but wouldn't be surprised if Billy and Nights are in the Sonic Universe being from Sonic Team.

I haven't played the two previous games but I've heard pretty universally good things. I could be tempted, but I still don't have the Moo Moo Meadows world record on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, so there's easily another 100 hours of gameplay for me there.

As our resident Sega man, have you seen any rumblings about a wider cast outwith the Sonic games popping up, Mas? It's not a dealbreaker or anything, but it'll make it an easier buy.

I haven't all I've seen is Sonic, Shadow, someone who looks like Big mixed with Robotnik and I've got no idea who it is.

Transformed was absolutely brilliant, partly because it was such a good celebration of wider SEGA. I want Vyse and AGES dammit!

Sega have confirmed this isn't a direct sequel to Transformed which has me a little worried.

I think that just means no SEGA characters and the lack of transforming vehicles, which is a little weird to have less content but I believe Sumo can do a good job and maybe less is more and what is in the game is a banger.

Sumo are very good at racing games so I'm sure they can make a fun game but with the little info that we have it just seems more limited than the previous game, I'll still be keeping an eye on it but if it was just more of the same I would have snapped it up instantly.

Gameplay looks decent

Do we know if the different vehicle modes are making a return from Transformed? That made for some pretty fun variety in the stages.

Nope just Kart racing.

Hm. Couple that with the supposed lack of any non-SANIC characters and my enthusiasm for this is waning a bit.

The E3 trailer looked real good.

Indeed it does, also seen a few places quoting around £30 for it so that'll almost definitely sway me, even if Big the Cat is bound to turn up and takes Sonic Racing's "Daisy" spot.

I'm also annoyed it's a group of chao's as one racer for Team Amy then Cream & Cheese as a racer unless they're in another team with the likes of Blaze.

Anyone still bothered about this, the later it goes without a date seeing it's coming this year along with some previews saying it's a bit slow the more I forget about it.
