| (I stole the title from Balla) GNamer Gaming Projects Using Forumite Names Thread - Due to no concept of editing:
InvergrackleThe manager is the only player you really get to customise the appearance of - shame you can't see my rendition of Stu the Great here Names, ages (as of 2017) and nationalities assumed correct where known. DISCLAIMER: I apologise as I'm now at the age where I've met so many people with similar surnames that I may have spelt things incorrectly - it always seems rude when that happens. DISCLAIMER 2: Heights, weights, skill levels and preferred playing positions (if any) are, obviously, not known, and chosen at random by the FM Gods. It was difficult enough to convince it not to make half the team right-backs. DISCLAIMER 3: From now on no association will be directly made between the fictitious footballers and their real-life namesakes; all managerial decisions are made based on the logic of the simulation, and not favouritism. DISCLAIMER 4: I am not worth £550 of anyone's money. What you can't see here: a bug in the creator. I selected the English leagues as a backup. When choosing a city to based in/around, I could only choose English cities, despite the fact that I'm in the Scottish league system. Having said that, I kicked out Berwick, and they're a bit "straddly"! Also not shown: You get to choose hair/skin colours for the little 3D renditions of the players; however, it also generates a random face that has no bearing on this whatsoever. ALREADY AN UPDATE: The previous game I played, the world sort-of trickled by. 2 in-game weeks into this game, the 2022 World Cup has been taken away from Qatar due to protests, and one of the Gracklers has come out as gay. |

| I went to see Clyde yesterday, and it was £14 at the turnstiles. I'm furious that the ticket prices have gone up two quid since last season's Invergrackle match It's fun to see current and former forumites positions and value, but the highlight for me is the name of the stadium, "natch". |

Oh crap, is he not? Sorry Gwyn. I could have sworn that... Someone's Welsh, right? Virtual Cappa was fine playing against his club it seems. We do already have a Bulgarian chappie on loan from Hearts - I think our centre-backs are OK, but none of them have randomly generated as very tall. Maybe we can get him to join the forum... |

| Nah, leave him as is. That's the price you pay for buggering off: no say over the nationality of your Invergrackle representative.
Some would say that's punishment enough. |

Jimbob: please try to buy Luke Wilkinson, the Luton Town defender Muss and I went to school with. Huh! In a bizarre twist, he was in my Stevenage team in FIFA career mode! (I guess not that bizarre, he literally played/plays for Stevenage). He was the one player that advanced to Championship level by the time I got them to the Championship. I'll certainly try - I don't think I can convince him to join the 4th rung of Scottish football. I might be able to get Brad Wadkins - my second cousin. - This month at Invergrackle:
Uh-oh. Guys. Let's keep this in General Gaming Discussion. I thought you'd want to see Stu in his bright blue shirt. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE RANDOMLY GENERATED FACES but I paid for a specialist because I'm that kind of guy What the fuck is this.

| Clearly hiring players from outwith the GNamer canon is going to result in them being troublemakers who accrue red cards like there's no tomorrow. |

| - Latest news at Invergrackle:
Well, things are unravelling fast. I think the "Create a Player" thing should guide a little more as to what's a sensible situation. I'd like to blame that for the misery of anyone who isn't regularly in the starting XI - or those who are and therefore think they're better than everyone else. This c*** was the first to leave, because he was third-choice at left back Other me has gone to Boreham Wood, with the rest of the Watford rejects (which is in Borehamwood - I don't understand the one word two words thing either). He plays as a full back or a midfielder, but not a wing back. Last time I checked in-game, Boreham Wood are playing a 3-5-2. Great then. Then our star player thinks he's too good and won't sign a new contract And then this happened - desperately playing every game to avoid being sent back to Australia (although we're part-timers in the bottom tier of Scottish football, so...) However, as bad as things are off the pitch (and believe me, for the next update, they're getting worse - on it, things are looking a bit better. Some Japanese bloke is the league's top scorer And - well, this is absolutely fantastic.

| I seem to have a lost a post for some reason... OK, well here's a bloody long post about Invergrackle: - Part 1:
Zero's gone off to sunny Eastleigh (?); basically this follows the routine that the best players all want to leave and I have to try and get some money from them before their contract expires (and with this one it's just clause money, blood part-timers that we are). We have just enough on the wings to carry on. But then: Mas goes as well. At least at the end of the season once his contract's up. He's joining virtual me at Boreham Wood (in Borehamwood) at the end of the season. Now: when I originally added this on Twitter, I ended up in a discussion with his non-virtual counterpart about man-management. However, it dawned on me that I didn't actually OK this move; the Director of Football did, automatically. This happens again a few screens down. This is annoying, and I can't find any options to stop him from doing this! Once Pengilly said he wanted to leave, I couldn't do anything about it - I remember giving options to give him a run in the first team and go on loan if necessary. And then Jones gets injured for half the season. Even forking out for a specialist this is a long time. Injured his hip kicking the ball. I mean that's kind of the entry-level for what a footballer should have to do. Well, as bad as things are off the pitch, we're doing alright on it - look at that run! Currently top of the league! And, freed from contract woes, out second-choice striker finally gets off the mark. We did need to feed the Pengle...
- Part 2:
See? The director of football OKed this as well. We only had 2 left-backs as it was. Rice is going to... I think Kidderminster in the end... at the end of the season. On the field, things are still OK - just about - I didn't get a video of this goalie howler, but you can see the two forwards in that picture; he kicks it straight into Mas. [David Brent]Good news everyone - I was offered a new contract![/David Brent] Now all we need is for you arseholes to sort this out. Athers does go through with the talks, as he's playing a lot since Jones got injured, as did Darren Petrie, the journeyman full back I bought so that there's actual cover. Balla is still too good for us, and the other three arseholes are in a strop because they're not in the first team enough. Luckily, things are going well!
- Part 3:
Things are not going well. Lost 5-1, including a Question of Sport staple - the "ball hits the post and bounces off the back of the prone goalie's head" OG. A string of poor results means we are no longer top. Well at least someone signed a new contract. This also gets over the work permit business as well. Apparently the contract includes a "Wayne Appearance Bonus" ^_^ And the Duck has made the NI U23 team! He played less than 10 minutes. When they were 3-0 up. Against Luxembourg. Hey look, when you're a youth international, we can talk.
I'll keep going, and let you know how it goes at the end of the season. The "create your own players" doesn't really work unless you can reliably get a sensible foundation for a logical team, which I don't think happened, despite my best interests. Also, the politics to deal with these illogical steps are difficult when really you're attached to the original members of your squad, like of course I am. Except for that Langston fella. |

| Is there a way to sim ahead by a season with an AI Jimbob on autopilot? Some of the newer WWE games let you do that in Universe Mode and you end up with some mad results. It could be a laugh to do that at the end of a season and have a "where are they now?" update with the GNamer gang. |

| THE CONCLUSION TO THE STORY OF INVERGRACKLE - The last month:
Well, we finished second. Sorry we didn't get automatic promotion, but we got into the playoffs... ...and into the final in fact! Do they really call it the relegation playoff, because the one team from the league above takes part? We lost the away leg 1-0 though. Oh but wait! Two up after 17 minutes of the second leg? WE ARE GOING UP - WE ARE GOING UP WE ARE GOING UP - WE ARE GOING UP WE ARE GOING UP - WE ARE GOING UP WE ARE GOING UP - WE ARE GOING UP Our defence was static as all shit - instructions to close down and mark tight were wasted, as opposition zipped past. However, the "front 4" Kielty-Duck-Stewart-Summerhayes were dynamic Wunderkind big-for-his-boots Balla even changed his mind about escaping from the club... ...and signed a new contract on a much reduced wage. The Duck is the player of the league of the season! I like that they got both of your hairs just right DIGRESSION ALERT: What happened to Muss' surname? Onwards and upwards? Well, not exactly. Herein lies the problem with this Create-a-Club business. I've attempted to manage like a regular Football Manager game, but it doesn't really work out. Lots of players wanted to leave because they weren't playing regularly (mostly thanks to the random-deities deciding we needed 10 full backs and 3 central midfield players in our squad of 22), and I haven't been motivated to replace them with "real" people; I only got a couple of players on loan. I've also pandered to any contract demands where possible, so the wage situation is interminable. The quality of some of the players and their resultant pay packet, even though the game does attempt to keep you to a realistic budget, doesn't work out. We only have about 15 players at the start of the next season. What might've helped is what Jay suggested: creating the club, then retiring and let the computer simulate what's going on. It's been a while since I tried that on FM, but I suspect we wouldn't get some of the Dream Team-esque drama. However, I still have the save file, and might well see how the game handles our next season without me. It'd be better, given that you get the "man-management", that the computer also handles that management. Or, there's another football thing where there isn't handling players. FIFA got rid of its creation centre a while back though, unless we pretend Sparta Prague is near Inverness or something. Wait - I have an idea... SENSIBLE WORLD OF SOCCER Thanks to the bloody random Edited Teams league that has amassed over the years, we can compete against the finest. England's 1966 team. Watford's 1982-83 team that finished second in the league. Er... Scottish video game characters? Women off the telly I fancied when I was 12? The Game Grumps?? OK, hold on a sec...

| What a conclusion to good ol' Invergrackle's first season. Brilliant stuff, Jimbob. I'm really interested to see what state the club is in and where the players jet off to after you let the computer take the reins for a season. |

| I don't know why but I really fancied a city management game or similar and was going to name streets or landmarks after you guys. I gave Surviving Mars ago as it's now on Game Pass but I was confused within about 5mins of the tutorial that I did look at Aven Colony as it's on sale, yet YouTube make that seem just as complicated. Makes me ask where are the likes of Theme Park, Civ Rev 2 on a console in 2019 where I can just put down a building and not worry if it is connected the water, electric, phones and what not. I am going a tad off subject till I was going through my installed Xbox One games and come across the 2019 EA Sports games. That I got to thinking well Jimbob has done FM let's do one of the other three sports. Problem with that is you'll go into the NHL, have decent stats and the goal is to win the Stanley Cup that I wasn't sure if that would be fun. So I went for FIFA 2019 and started us out in League 2 as Exeter City. You were all randomly made apart from nationality (Drunka you're a Japanese citizen now) and age, then I replaced the 15 of you with the 15 best players in Exeter City's team. This was match one It didn't go much better and then I also noticed that Cappa (who is somehow an LM but stats make him a GK), Jimbob and ZeroJones were all retiring at the end of the season. Which lead me to use my FIFA points you earn from doing things and redeem the takeover option, just before the transfer window shut. This is what happened to the team in League 2 - Spoiler:
Both EofGiz and Jay kept getting plenty of games even with the new recruits and yes that did include a new GK. Jay wasn't just getting game time, he was even improving and he wasn't the only one All the goals oddly came from our new RB but Muss chipped in with a good few from the bench
We went up to League 1 after coming 3rd in League 2, anyway this how we got on - Spoiler:
With a full season with my signings from last year, I thought the most appearances would be from all of them but no Jay keeps on being a key-player and Jas also sees a lot of game time in his last season due to retirement A bunch of you in your footballing prime have continued to improve and become key-players The goals now seem to becoming from Barker as Elliot Bennet didn't stick around after his first season with City.
We came 17th in our first year being in League 1 which is okay as a lot of the team has improved and the 8 or so of GNamer that are still in the squad have improved that likes of Jay are first on the team sheet, just will he still be there when we get to the premier league? |
