Platinum and Hideki Kamiya just announced a new action game/co-op action game and it looks the absolute business. I thought this was going to be a MonlithSoft jobby, confirming this as Cappa and Jas' worst Direct ever - probably for the best that it's not!

Thought it was Platinum as soon as I saw the combat! That's a dev with a stunning track record, so I trust this will be the business. I want to see more though!
Did we get a release date?

30th August I believe.

This has a little blade runner vibe to it plus it's a Platinum game so one I'll keep an :cyclops: on.

Did they say it was CO-OP as I'm sure they only said the characters are linked together an that will make combat new & exciting?

Yeah they didn't say anything about co-op, only that two characters changes the combat.
From the trailer I'd predict it's still singleplayer
Subject: Re: Astral Chain (a different kind of Starlink) Thu 14 Feb 2019 - 18:25
Yeah ditto, looks to me like it's one player with the control being two avatars at once, which should be an interesting take. In less qualified hands I'd wonder if they can pull it off, but it's Platinum so I'm sure it'll be the banger it's already looking. Lowkey more looking forward to this than Three Houses.

Ah well, I wasn't planning to play it with anybody else anyway. Looks like it could work okay in co-op., but I'm very happy for them not to dilute the experience.
Incidentally this comes out a week after my birthday. Gah!

Yeah, it didn't come across to co-op for me either.
I'm loving the somewhat ridiculous voice acting too - "you're the terrorist here!" made me chuckle with how absurd that line sounded.

The *wink wink nudge nudge* about the two characters made me think there might be co-op, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Doggie! Or, more specifically, your 'Legion': both weapon and investigation aid. Does that mean we get to do a bit of Ace Attorney/Kyle Hyde-style stuff? (crosses fingers and toes)

This had a good wee showing on treehouse, where they showed off some of the basics to combat and a very early part of the game but they are meant to be going more in depth with the combat today at some point.

Actually this is one where some Treehouse is really beneficial: I'm not quite sure how it plays or how great it'll be (I'm sure it'll be good), so this is very handy! Think I'll watch a bit more (it's on now).

This looked phenomenal when they allowed the director of the game to show off a few boss fights, for example I had no idea you could quick swap from different legions mid combat to give you different defensive and attacking options until he started doing it.
