Subject: June's games might cost you an FROG and a leg Sun 21 May 2017 - 14:47
Here we are the games of June 2017 sponsored by this song.
Recently whilst chatting to Andy on here about Fire Emblem Echoes, I said I may pick it up in June as I was thinking it would be a quiet month. It may not have a Zelda or Persona but better then I think most would have thought.
Retail Games of June

My Thoughts: If I hadn't of bought Injustice 2 then Tekken 7 may have got a look in but I don't need another fighter in that style and Tekken since 3 has felt off to me.
ESO: Morrowind sort of tempts me as I loved Morrowind but not sure about it due another MMO coming this month. WipEout looks like it will be stunning on PS4 Pro in 4K also cheap as under £25 but racing games aren't may fav genre and I've got FAST and MK8D to play also that cover art
Dirt 4 is simliar to WipEout as it is a game I think I would like and is different enough from WipEout, MK8D but not sure I want to spend £40 on a racing game.
ARMS even though I may sound a bit sour on it, in it's own thread I will still be picking it up and hope we can get a lot of games played.
The other MMO is FFXIV which is odd as the starter version is £10 and basically a enhanced re-release of A Realm Reborn physical version and for £10 might be worth ago. However it can be played at this moment for free up-to level 35 and you can unlock trophies etc. I've not done that and that sort seems the more logcail thing to do, physical version or versions would look nice with my other PS4 Final Fantasy games.
The game I'm looking forward to the most comes out on the 30th and that's Crash Bandicoot
I think I'll end up getting WipEout as its cheap, ARMS and Crash with the possibility of FFXIV as it's only a tenner.

On the software side of stuff, FROGS, Ever Oasis and RPG Maker Fes are certainties. The Mana Collection interests me but I'd rather play it in English. On the non-gaming front, I be wanting ter see that there Wonder Woman and purchase A LEGO Batman Movie.

Probably just ARMS FROGS but I really do want to try Binding of Issac again so I might end up with that as well.

Wow, that's one super boring month. Which is totally fine by me, I've got better things to finance at the moment, like a holiday and a PS4.
Granted there's the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, although I really wish they hadn't gone for the overly detailed look over something far more suited like cell shading.

Yeah the big litmus test for any remaster is: Does the game look like the player remembers it? This is where Crash Bandicoot has gone wrong.

Come on it looks sort of similar for a AAA-Remaster (It's a remake Activision, don't start making up new terms) as a normal remaster of a PS1 game may have not cut the mustard.
Also it could be this:

I know they're not taking the piss but to me it's sitting in an uncanny valley that's 'a bit like how I remember it but also not as brightly coloured and with way more details than I want,' - I think Athrun is onto something with his cell-shaded approach. My memories of Crash are Bold, Vivid, Bright and dat soundtrack. This washes away some of the character the original had to me. I want that colour saturation amped up.

I wouldn't want cell-shaded as that's not how Crash looked, sure this new style isn't the best but I do feel if the PS1 could do more detail it would like what were getting.

Crash looks worse on PS4 than it did originally.
FROGS is a must-buy (I'll probably pick up Injustice and Tekken on the cheap one day) but I'm excited to finally get round to buying De Mambo. Me and Muss played it at Rezzed aaaages ago, it's like a very simple Smash Bros. It even has the option to go back and forth on the post-match stats and wind up other players, which the developers told us they enjoyed as much as we did on Smash and deliberately copied it.
Wonder Woman will probably get a watch. VERY excited about Transformers- I watched the very first trailer, once, and I've not watched or read anything since. I'll be living in Cheltenham, walking distance from a big cinema, possibly even working at that cinema, so I reckon I'll break my record for watching a Transformers film over and over.

I'm intrigued by Valkyria Revolution, but then I've not played Valkyria Chronicles yet. Looks like it will be similar but different non-turn-based gameplay. Might see how that one reviews.
Never been a fan of Crash or Wipeout, always felt like second-rate Mario and F-Zero, respectively.

Revolution I think is set in a different world / universe or something to Chronicles.
I get WipEout but not Crash sure it's a platformer but found it to be different to Mario or Sonic etc
I do wonder what classic PlayStation series they can bring back next.

I always thought Crash was a bit like Sonic in that, as a game, it's not great. It impressed visually and did things competently, benefitting from being first-party and having a weak selection of competitors.
If Crash was on the N64 it would be in that Glover, Toy Story 2 third-tier of 3D platformers. Second-tier being Banjo and Rocket and top-tier being Mario 64.

The man speaks the truth! I've never been able to get into Crash, not then and not now.

Okay, like a Frenchman, I'll bite - why FROGS?
ARMS for sure, after what I've seen. I'll likely not be terribly good at it though, which is where Ever Oasis comes in. And I'm sure there'll be stuff on the eShop too, but I'm in a hurry this morning and I'm not sorting through the list of DVDs and such to find out what that is.

It's Scottish slang to call arms "frogs". I've got big frogs, check out my frogs, I'm working on my frogs, etc.

ARMS, natch, and maybe Crash once it drops in price.
The issue with Crash is that the original game is pretty guff and I don't think the remaster will improve it to a "must-play" state. But then you've got Crash Bandicoot 2, which is a genuinely great game - good levels, polar-bear riding, great tunes and an actual functioning save system unlike its predecessor. Crash 3 is fine, but I think it tries to do too much by adding in more vehicle sections, additional powers and levels that are a bit too busy in terms of mechanics, which leads to a game that doesn't feel as tightly designed as Crash 2. The remaster will fix a few issues, I'm sure, but both the original and 3's core level design won't be changed.
I don't think Crash 2 remastered is worth the price of admission alone. Plus, it's a bit weird visually, isn't it?

Ah. So it's a case of stacking jokes/references on top of each other, thus somewhat mucking up the original joke?

Sir, I recommend chilling about it a bit. You could go mad as a box of arms if you're not careful.

It is a nostalgia thing and I had a PS1, and didn't care for the N64.
Activision knows this that they're countless people like me and are willing to give them £40 all day long for the remaster of two great games (sorry jay they will play the same) and one okay one.
Now just to wait for the best kart game to get the remaster treatment and online added.

Arms for sure, Crash and Isaac for maybes. Been wanting Binding of Isaac for a while but a lot of that will depend on the price, as for Crash it all comes down to whether it's been handled properly and isn't just a crash in.
