Because... I forgot how many months there are in a year? It's good logic, it just seems a bit odd. Ah well.

All the 2D platformer Yoshi games suffer when placed alongside Super Mario World 2, the game they all imitate. It's time to do something different with Crafted World. If World 2 is a Desert Zone and World 3.1 is the level where they introduce monkeys again, you'll know they've shat a brick.
Still, Woolly World on Wii U was really nice, and that did bugger all new.

Eloquently put! Although I didn't manage to plough through YWW: completionism got the better of me again. I suppose I'll give overcoming that another shot...

There's not a lot of chat going around about the Yoshi's Crafted World bit on last night's Nintendo Direct:
I like the look of that, and the demo is well worthwhile too:
It's quick and a wee bit linear, but it looks absolutely superb.

Only because I didn't want to DoPo! (Don't know what everybody else's excuse is.) That trailer took the game from 'maybe' to 'almost certainly' for me, it looked superb.
I've heard that Yoshi and his aiming are a bit slow: this true from your playthrough Cappa?

This is true from my playthrough, aye. It takes it's time, but there's so little of it that it doesn't take too much of yours.

This game really makes me look forward to the next Yoshi game! We've had an adorable knitted one and now we're getting a beautiful paper-craft one (it's like a fun Little Big Planet). I'm basically sold.
I was about to make exactly the same point again - past me is correct! When he had that carton as a shield - beautiful. I can't wait to try the demo! I do suspect that, from what you've said just above, it might be more fun to observe than to play, but what the hell - the completionist in me is going to spend 30 hours trudging through cardboard.

I think this was always going to be a game I would get and enjoy so the trailer hasn't made much difference in me getting this but its good to see a bit more of it in motion, huge fan of the art style.

I'm going to try, and fail, again, not to do this. To just finish the levels without getting bogged down in red coins etc.

What? I played the demo last night and half of it is aiming and throwing at things. There are tons of background objects and it's the only way to get a lot of the collectibles.
It's a little slow but not too bad imo

This is very much a yoshi game. It looks incredibly pretty and charming though.
I should probably change the thread title, seeing as the game has an actual name now

I wanted to use 'Eggy March and Crafts' for Mas' thread title before realising that it wasn't the game's actual name.
I played the demo. of this too, and the title screen alone had me making a big face. It didn't even feel particularly slow to me, not compared to other Yoshi/Kirby platformers. I did feel my completionist instincts rising up (after missing the final flower twice), and the music tries a bit too hard for whimsy and sounds not that great as a result... but I'm sold.

Pre-release bump. Anybody else planning on picking this up day 1? I'm really hankering for a big(ger) retail release, and I'm looking forward to (I believe the term is) 'greeting my face aff'. That horrendous would-be-whimsical out-of-tune flute might end up doing my head in, though.

I've bought all the Yoshi platformers on day one since Universal Gravitation on the GBA, and this is no different. They're reliably good fun, though some are better than others.

Not on release day as I won't be going near the shops but on Monday I will, feeling rather hyped for it now.

I've started this up. So far it's exactly what you'd expect, very cute and very relaxing, bordering on the twee at times but (bar the soundtrack - the main theme is horrible) not quite getting there. It's got 6-7/10 all over it, but it can still make you smile. The first boss was great.

Yeah, a safe bet would be how I'd describe this game. I can't imagine me hating it, but I'm not in a hurry to play it either.

Probably closer to a 7 thus far, to be fair, after a few levels. It introduces enough new stuff each time, with mine carts and Robo-Yoshi (surprisingly tough) being early highlights. It's not going to change anyone's life, but it might shine a few sunbeams in.
And the Poochypups are so DARN CUTE

Poochy is certainly cute, and I love the aesthetic (it looks 100 times better than Little Big Planet to actually play) but... I dunno. I feel like I've done too many sedate platformers recently. I don't know if I am going to get it.

At a guess I think Jim was referring to the gameplay. Although Yoshi is and always has been slow and floaty, which is what I've most often heard levelled at LBP's platforming...
The giant robot Yoshi, not so much.

I think this is closer to an 8 than a 9, not a 7. I'm really impressed by this, especially the level design. Fine, it's sedate, but games like Kirby's Epic Yarn and Klonoa have shown that that's grand sometimes.

I'm starting to think I was a little harsh there. As well as being really sweet it's a decent adventure, with plenty of challenge if you go looking for flowers. That said, maybe I'm just old-school, but: fall off a cliff and respawn with just a few hearts lost!? What nonsense is this?
