| So I must admit, I wasn't the greatest fan of levels 4 or 5. Level 4 has the wind, level 5 has... well, I stopped playing SMB3 at the Angry Sun, let's put it that way. LEVEL 6 THOUGH |

| I've finished level three, which was creepy and atmospheric and brilliant, tentatively looking forward to 4 & 5 having heard some seriously mixed stuff . . . |

| I quite liked 5. 6 is... is it ‘bae’, the young people say? Yes? Yes. 6 is bae. |

| Curious to know what you've heard about 4 & 5, Drunka, save from me. The one less-than-maximum-score review I could find (Polygon) didn't have any actual criticisms of the game. (Which doesn't paint Polygon in a great light.)
I mean, they're still good. They're Celeste levels. They just, in my opinion, aren't as good as what came before or what follows after. |

| I've heard your opinion and similar on podcasts but also people saying similar to Zero; actually they're not bad. |

| Well let us know what you think! On the whole, it must be stressed, I love the game. Love it so much. Love it that sometimes I want to punch its STUPID BASTARD FACE IN. Out of love, natch. |

| I was thinking about the game (as you do), and I keep remembering little lovely touches. Some are just nice gamey ones, some are real 'you can do it ones'. - Level 7 gameplay mechanic:
The way the purple circles move slightly towards you as you approach is a really subtle one of the latter. The game, or perhaps Badeline, going, 'Come on, you can get here!' Giving you the little extra bit of give when you're nearby.
Ruddy marvellous. |

| I have read that - Spoiler:
there’s a bonus strawberry on offer if you complete the first level without dashing. I might give that a go.

| I've just got about half way through trying it and geez that is crazy.
Think I might have to call it a day. I've done all C sides, gathered all normal strawberries and the first Golden one. What a game though. |

| Bloody hell, I wasn't going to try the B-sides! Man of iron! (Only iron with quick reactions and flexible fingers... so not iron at all really...) |

| That's our andy! I would like to say I'll go back and 100% Celeste one day, but there are plenty of other games ahead of it on the list and I'm not actually finding myself with that much time to sit and play computer games. |

| I've caved and joined in the fun! I've beaten the first two worlds and left off part way through the Level 2 B-Side as my hands were starting to ache from the tricky jumps and the stress of Part of Madeline chasing me about. I'm really enjoying it thus far. It nails that most important aspect of any platformer in that manoeuvring your character feels satisfying and the controls are tightly designed. I'm a big fan of the instant respawning after a missed jump too - it removed a lot of the tedium and frustration from Super Meat Boy and it works much the same here. It's those two elements (the controls and the respawning) that make this a joy to play and I must admit, the dash mechanic is an inspired idea. As a side note, the art style and design of Madeline - specifically in the little character portrait when she's talking to somebody - is reminding me strongly of Seconds by Bryan Lee O'Malley of Scott Pilgrim fame. That's a good thing in my book.

| I have wondered how a Super Meat Boy fan would get on with yer game Celeste. Glad to hear you’re liking it, sir - eventually Celeste will conquer the whole forum. |

SMB (no, not that one) is definitely more in the realm of being out there to get you with all its missiles and saws and general nastiness whereas Celeste is - or at least, seems to be so far - more about traversal and navigating a harsh environment. I actually prefer Celeste's take on things. |

| I've also started the game, good fun so far, just gonna play through it first before I start going back for everything though. It's tough but not unfairly so and I've yet to get frustrated because I know it's my own fault and eventually I'll be able to do it. |

| Hope both you boys like it, sad (but not surprising) to see Mas not getting on with it. If nothing else that might bring other people's expectations down. (Or, given his views on BotW, bring them up...) |

I didn't realise for the vast majority of the level that it won't actually grow until you move! Made that strawberry a lot easier to get, I can tell you.
Argh, I wish I'd known that! I've just beaten that level and there were definitely more than a few panicked moments or strawberries that I straight up skipped. |

Can't think who's not played it on here anyway |

I just beat that level too and didn't realise that, didn't stop me getting any strawberries mind but didn't get them all so maybe I missed some that would have been made harder as a result. I feel it safe to say I'm absolutely loving it so far, you feel such a sense of accomplishment when completing a tough section and the story it tells feels really well done. |

| It's almost achieved that Breath of the Wild level where I love it so much I get angry at people who only love it a sensible amount. |

| Is that an excuse to heap praise on Celeste again? I think it is... Earlier today I was trying to think of the last game I played that I would rate more highly than Celeste. I think I’ve settled on it being Super Mario Galaxy 2. |

| Unfortunately for Celeste Breath of the Wild exists, so I don't have to go back far
But y'know BOTW is probably the best game ever made |
