| It is usually better that I don't engage in political discussion, but I will anyway. I am a social democrat at heart, so I never vote conservative. Conservatives irritate the living hell out of me and I really don't want a hardcore Thatcherite and Catholic running our country. Tony Abbott offends me far more than any politician we have had likely to run the country, and that includes John Howard, who lied and used racism to keep himself in power, taking us to war and villifying refugees. Tony Abbott is continuing the latter.
I haven't voted Labor for years, I vote Green. I believe environment is always more important than jobs, if there is no healthy environment, there are no jobs. Always give the planet the benefit of the doubt. However, for those of you not familiar with our system, a system you voted not to have recently, we have preferential voting, the best voting there is. My second and third votes count. The person with the most votes, if not more than 50% does not represent the constituency, just those who voted for them. Consequently, I know that when I vote Green, knowing they won't likely win, my vote actually goes to Labor - it doesn't split the vote. So I vote Labor by default. However, this time around, I am voting Labor as they need all the help they can get. Every vote counts.
As for the current problems in the Labor Party, I strongly support Julia Gillard, I think she has been terrific. However, in the best interests of the country, she should ste down, give it back to Kevin Rudd and then fight strong for him to win. The country is more important and she has become too much the focus and that isn't helpful. The Liberals (conservatives) will take our country backwards.
There, I am done.

Meanwhile women are saying exactly the same about men. Anyway, I'm not going to join in with that particular chorus (or in the Aussie politics discussion, which I know nothing about, although Oldschool's views broadly echo mine). Certain women, yes. Also certain men. |

Also certain men. Indeed. Women: who just plain forgot that feminism ever happened - they plaster themselves in slap, wear high heels, don designer clothes and expect to be paid for on every date. What century are you supplicating dolls living in?!?!? Men: who show their "prowess" by, well, I was going to say "shaking", but I think the correct term is "crushing" your hand. At a seminar this morning this stout old posh boy took great pleasure in squeezing my hand so tight that my pinkie overlapped with my right ring finger, and my ring physically cut into my pinkie. The mark is literally still fucking there. And just posh people in general: who think that they are more successful than any other social class because they're posh. This was the reason the last boyfriend got a dumping. The current one is posh, possibly more so than the last one, but isn't a total twat about it. Oh dear, I'm ranting again! I really am a very smiley happy person, just don't piss me off! |

As a student living in Edinburgh, I frequently encounter women who think they're automatically better than me because of where they're from. You get a lot of English students, sadly, who believe they are the cat's pyjamas because they come from London, or other various spots in Southern England. As soon as I cotton on they're using social status as an attraction to themselves as opposed to, y'know, real personality and wit, I'm instantly turned off. |

| Most students, when they come back drunk late at night, vomit into the sink and go to bed. Jay goes on a Monty Mole rampage on GNamer. |

| At least his typing was easy to read, I once tried to organise a committee meeting for our gaming society whilst drunk, it didn't make much sense and everyone mocked me for it. |

| At least I'm sensible enough to stay away from the forum once I've had a bevvy. The last time I came on here gassed was quite embarrassing. |

| I can't say that I am as bothered by the ban as much as you Shanks. It isn't even the fact that I am not interested in the game. The classification board have said why it is banned and the developers know what the rules are. Just because we have an 18+ rating doesn't and shouldn't mean anything goes. I think gamers may have thought that the new rating would allow pretty much anything and that was clearly wrong. It must be pretty bad to exceed what is allowed, so Deep Silver should just make changes or simply not release it here. It isn't that I support censorship, generally I don't, but i don't think movies and games are exactly the same. |

| I can't say I agree, as we have some of the broadest censorship in the world. Short of actual porn, there pretty much isn't anything you can't show on free-to-air television. Plus there are probably few countries that allow broadcast, uncensored, of NIN's Closer, on the radio. Sure, like England and America, we have some ratbag conservatives - read: old people, who like to complain - but we are exceptionally progressive. Don't let the odd sensationalist headline fool you. |

| Yeah but like you said TV is different, I wall admit on that aspect people can get away with a lot.
But I think from a game point where we are the only country where a few games have been banned I think it's because of the same narrow minded old farts that don't understand technology... its all about the Helen Lovejoy's of the world "somebody think of the children!" because the government thinks you're too stupid to read a label and want to remove the blame by removing the source of the problem.
What's next for us GTA 5? |

| To be honest I kind of agree that video games should be given different treatment. If you think about it they are interactive entertainment that requires direct input from the player experiencing it, and that link can probably form more of an impact than merely watching something.
Don't get me wrong I don't agree we should coddle people, but I can see why they crack down on games from time to time. The amount of games that get banned here are surprisingly low in number despite the fuss that gets made, so it must have been really over the top to get banned. |

| From what I gather it's getting banned because of - Quote :
- visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context.

I know, I was joking, I'm sure. Just seems like the games industry over there just gets a bit of a raw deal. |
