| If you guys remember we had a best year of gaming thread but it's seemed to have disappeared.
After talking to Balla, decided to go a head and make a new one.
But you might be wondering why, well I was looking at what's coming for 2015 and it looks very good across all the platforms.
So good that to me personally it feels like the 8th gens 2007 as that seemed to kick start 7th gen and I can see 2015 doing the same for the 8th.
Andy & I did have a few tweets about it with him going 2010 or 11 are better, they could be (there not) but not really my point.
So what do you guys think is 2015 going to be the real start of 8th gen and of course talk about your fav years etc. |

| I think 2015 will be pretty good. That's all I have to say.
I think the best year might be either 2006 (with your Zeldas, new Marios and Elder Scrollss....es) or 1991 (when everything went super). Or 1998 because Ocarina of Time. |

| Nope. This generation, for me, started in earnest with MK8, having been pre-empted by SM3DW and DKCTF. And now we have SSBU.
Perhaps from a single-player perspective we'll have more fun next year: Captain Toad, Starfox U, XCX, YWW, and of course Zelda. (Alphabet bingo.) But that doesn't mean the generation will start there. And perhaps that's when the BBoPs will really get going, but that just puts them behind the Wii U's curve, doesn't it? Not that Jonny Public knows that.
Also, next year looks barren from a 3DS perspective, unless you count a new model (I don't). We have a couple of remakes and STEAM for our big games. This year wasn't mind-blowing for the handheld, but next year looks worse. |

Galaxy was 2007, I know I'm not a fan but know loads think it's great that it's one of 2007 was good like balla said in a SP perspective 2015 looks like it will be like it with Zelda U & Uncharted 4 for instance from a gamers view. |

| I had a lot of fun with this years games from stuff like Dark souls II to MK8 but I think 2015 looks like it will be off to an even stronger start with things like Bloodborne & MH4U. - balla wrote:

Let's hope a new model can rejuvenate it a bit then but I personally will be more than happy with just MH4U. |

You see that's the problem right there, it is completely unfair to compare the two as one's a new take on the 3d platformer & the other is in the classic 2d mould, the NSMB series is still really good in it's own right & has actually got better with each iteration. |

| Ok what would you sooner have as SMG was rather high (was it even first) in are Mario vote, so that's the one people would sooner have then making 2007 a better year then 2006 for instance.
But really I would like to use this thread to come back next year and go The Order: 1886 Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. Bloodborne Mortal Kombat X The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Batman: Arkham Knight Everybody's Gone to the Rapture Halo 5: Guardians Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain No Man's Sky Ori and the Blind Forest Persona 5 Quantum Break Rise of the Tomb Raider Splatoon Star Fox Star Wars: Battlefront The Legend of Zelda The Tomorrow Children Tom Clancy's The Division Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Whore of the Orient Until Dawn Xenoblade Chronicles X
Really made 2015 great how's 2016 going to top it |

I didn't dispute what the better game is I just said that it's unfair to directly compare the two. |

| Disagree: SMW is up there with the 3D games in greatness, and SMG follows the 2D Mario template more carefully than SM64 or SMS, so I think a comparison is fair. Also disagree about the series steadily getting better: in my mind, NSMB > NSMBWii and NSMB2.
But it does seem odd to have Mas, SMG's biggest detractor on this forum, defending the game! |

I never did play NSMB2 so when I said each one steadily getting better I mean I had more fun with NSMBU than I did with the original & wii version. |

| Still a big fan of NSMB2, purely for the Coin Rush. I champion anything which makes me think about, and play, games differently. |

| I thought so just having a bit of fun, I still think it's unfair to compare them as there's things you can do in 3d games that's simple arent possible in 2d. (Not trying to change anyone's mind by reiterating this) |

| I'm not comparing I'm just sating if I handed you every game of 2006 or 2007, which one you likely to go for me & lot would go for 2007 because of things like SMG, Bioshock, Mass Effect from that year. |

| Loved 2007. After the excellent end to 2006 with Twilight Princess and the Wii arriving (not to mention some fun DS games like NSMB), 2007 saw Galaxy arrive and blow my socks off. Prime 3 arrived and was ok (I was super hyped and it wasn't as good as what followed, but the build up to release was fun), Bioshock 1 is still my favourite Xbox 360 game, and Mass Effect 1 was a revelation at the time.
I also recall having a bunch of fun on the Wii and DS on lesser remembered titles that year that were non-the less inventive and kept me and my Uni house mates busy all year (Pokemon D and P, Umbrella Chronicles, Warioware Smooth Moves, My Sims, Boom Blox, Phantom Hourglass, Hotel Dusk, The World Ends With You, Prof layton and Elite Beat Agent. Not sure if they all came out that year, but I *think* I played all those games that year from memory. God I used to play a lot more...). At the time I was mildly impressed with CoD 4 for a few afternoons when I borrowed it, little did we know the behemoth it would become!
Basically 2007 was great for me. Had some good years back in the ol' N64 days, but didn't buy games at launch, so I lost track of when they were released compared to when I played them. |

| Some of you would have seen and some might not of seen as you don't use the old Twitter.
Anyway I was tweeting about Life is Strange as EP5 the final Episode comes out this month on the 20th and at the moment, it's in my Top 5 games of the year which. I went on to say that having something like that in my Top 5 (it's a Top 5 because of the podcast we did 5) shows from what I played the year has been a bit average and I ended up with 55 replies from Drunka, Andy, Smurf & Jas about me being mad and how great 2015 has been,
At the start of this thread I did think 2015 could be a stellar with the likes of: The Order: 1886, was a okay 7 Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., not played but not something to really to set the world on fire from what I've heard Bloodborne, Yes this is a stellar game but I've tried this and other soul's games and the soulslike genre isn't for me Mortal Kombat X, It was a good fighter The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Not played and this I've only heard great things Batman: Arkham Knight, Worst of the rocksteady ones Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Playing now and is pretty fantastic Halo 5: Guardians, Not out yet likely to be good but hearing more like COD in MP & SP Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Didn't play Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, My GOTY No Man's Sky, Delayed it seems into 2016 Ori and the Blind Forest, Not played Persona 5, Delayed till summer 2016 Quantum Break, Delayed till early 2016 Rise of the Tomb Raider, If as good as the first this could mkae my top 5 Splatoon, Best game on the Wii U this year so far Star Fox, Delayed to Q1 2016 Star Wars: Battlefront, Was the seocnd was shooter I played at EGX maybe the BETA will convince me otherwise but at the moment a Star Wars skin isn't going to cut the mustard for me The Legend of Zelda, Delayed to TBC The Tomorrow Children, No idea when this is coming but I would gather 2016 now Tom Clancy's The Division, Delayed to March 2016 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Still coming this December and the BETA has been fun but a MP online shooter not sure I will buy or if I do would be in my Top 5 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Delayed to March 2016 Whore of the Orient, Is this still even in development Until Dawn, Surprisingly good Xenoblade Chronicles X, Out Dec and could take Splat's spot as best Wii U game this year
I don't know if it's been all the delays that has brought me down on 2015 or that looking forward to 2016 knowing those delayed games are coming then along with some massive titles in Final Fantasy XV & The Last Guardian or that at the moment from what I've played my Top 5 from 2014 was better then my current Top 5 of 2015.
As at the moment my Top 5 is MGSV, Until Dawn, Life is Strange, Batman and Splatoon where last year it was Child of Light, Bayo 2, Dangonronpa, Transistor, Smash Wii U with Until Dawn, LIS and Bats not coming close to Dangonronpa, Transistor or Child of Light.
What's everybody's thoughts that didn't keep up with all the tweets.
