| There are FoV sliders in the options so bumping them up might help you see more of what's going on, I honestly don't mind the default settings though. |

| Played this for the first time in local multiplayer. It's great because my parents, blundering around the field, can barely be told apart from the rest of us. Tremendous, silly fun. |

| Glad you have enjoyed it, this also reminds me that I have to get back to playing with the Christmas event still being on & I want a few more pops at those event crates. |

| It's not like I'm buying them with real money or that they effect how you play the game (all are cosmetic items only), you get them from spending the in-game event currency on decryptor keys. |

| - Nobody wants to see this sort of talk, so spoiler tag it is:
I'm not sure I agree with the 'it's just cosmetic' thingy. For those who don't fancy watching Sterling's take on it, he talks up the import of cosmetics in an online game, and how important they are, and says it's an insult to art designers to dismiss cosmetics with 'just'. While that last bit is taking it a bit far, I do agree with the rest of his argument. Customising your avatar is fun, and hiding customisation options in crates is dodgy.
That said, if you're not paying, you're not paying, and that's that! Won anything nice? |

- Since you've kept it in a spoiler I'll do the same:
I get that it can be a slippy slope but crates aren't the only way you unlock stuff in this game & they were added much much later in the games lifespan after they had already gave the community a bunch of game modes for free.
The devs also get that not everyone likes this stuff and even give you the option to hide it.

From the crates? (only opened one) Nah, but I do have a happy little penguin that sits atop my car flapping his wings that I got from using the snowflakes currency. |

| Still really want a custom goal explosion though but the good ones are only in crates. |

Uh-oh - I thought local multiplayer meant two Switches talking to each other. I didn't know you could do Split Screen! I'm such an old man... |

| As with almost any multiplayer game, I'd say split-screen is the way to play RL if you can wangle it. Can't kick your mates (gently I should add) for scoring an own-goal over the 'net! |

| I think you can even split screen and play online on one system too. |

| I had a really fun session with Jas on this during the week - I'm not as bad as I'd originally thought, although the skill gap was apparent when I was playing against folks who quite clearly know what they're doing. Seeing them pirouetting through the sky to smash a goal in or materialising out of nowhere to block a goal attempt was equal parts awe-inspiring and frustrating. |

| You can tell its been a Merry Switchmas for a lot of people as I've gone from barely ever finding one other Switch player to filling the lobby with them, so much so I've opted out of cross play at the moment. |

| So I’ve just discovered that online Rocket League is an all-out melee of a game. I now completely understand what Jim means when he talks about how utterly confusing everything is... |

| Definitely a game some need to feel out a little bit before truly getting it whereas it might just click instantly for others but as long as you're having fun is that such a big issue? |

| Oh, I definitely enjoyed it - I just felt I was letting my teammates down an awful lot, particularly in the later games. |
