| I often catch myself actually whistling the LM theme tune, just like Luigi does in the game! If that's not a success on behalf of the sound guys, I don't know what is.
Oddly, I don't recall much of the original music from LM2. I don't know whether it just wasn't as good as the remixes, or whether it's because I don't often play the game with my headphones plugged in.
I love the Dual Scream's Nokia-style rendition of the original theme. If ever that's available as an MP3, I'd make it my ringtone. |

| It's funny: I kept finding myself unable to remember how the LM2 theme started, but then I'd absent-mindedly start humming it and find myself halfway through. Anyway, it's possibly not as stellar as the original, but I wouldn't want to pick. The variation from mansion to mansion is great too.
SMG is going to be a tough week. No doubt there.
As for Nintendo's piano music, I heartily agree.

| You know what I have realised since doing this project? There are so many Mario Karts. Balladeer Does Another Mario Kart Music Week 44: Mushroom Gorge, Mario Kart Wii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP3n44MF1qc And they all have pretty good music. (Apart from the SNES version. Yes I went there.) While Rainbow Road is an obvious stand-out in any series entry, I'm a sucker for faux-Celtic themes, so you get that one track where you always get hit by a blue shell between mushrooms. And while we're talking faux-Celtic, here's one for Jaster. |

| Certainly a lot more fun and upbeat than MoF's soundtrack! That game is just gloomy track after gloomy track - I can barely tell them apart! I suppose this is probably my favourite, although special mention to this track for making me jump almost every time it hits 0:18. (No it's not getting a music week. Any game with a soundtrack less memorable than Wario World is out.)
I imagine the series has just got more po-faced over time. The goblins at least provide some comic relief from the BROODING GOTHICNESS.
Now, if you'll excuse me, the weekly voting thread has encouraged me to go on a Beat the Beat listening binge. The remixes are great! Like this one.

| I hope nobody minds, but I've cleaned up this page in light of the recent comments in this thread. For the convenience of your fellow GNamers, please use links instead of videos whenever possible. Thank you! Balladeer's Music Week for Willy-Heads 45: Puzzle Plank Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV9q8P6yiJ4 I was really disappointed with SMG2's soundtrack when I first played it: it sounded like all the bombast of the original had been lost. However, nupkin recently started playing the game, and I discovered this beauty. It's not in the same league as the original's Buoy Base, say, but it's a fun little folk ditty that's eminently hummable. |

| I swear, the Super Mario Galaxy games have the best soundtracks on a track-for-track basis out of all the Mario games.
How about in my opinion one of the best final boss themes of all time? |

| Nice! (Once it gets going.) I like to imagine it plays during the final battle in NGamer: the Game against Matthew. But it can't beat the Mario and Luigi final boss musics. Seriously amazing tunes. Have this one to ruminate on until I get around to putting it in a music week. Also this. |

| I'm in the minority, but I've never been enthralled by the Mario and Luigi final boss themes. Always underwhelming to me.
Now Kefka - that's a finale theme right there. |
