| If I remember correctly I was around mid 40s when I tackled Sen's fortress/Anor Londo, nothing wrong with being prepared. |

| I took your advice and took on the Catacombs and Darkroot Gardens/Basin. - Spoiler:
Catacombs wasn't too bad. The Divine Claymore came in really handy. And was that boss supposed to be an absolute cakewalk? He was more annoying with his teleporting and cloning himself than difficult. Also, I'm assuming I shouldn't be going near the Tomb of the Giants for the time being.
Darkroot Basin was interesting - that fucking hydra got a me a few times, more because I fell into the deep water than anything else. I eventually took him out, then I rescued Dusk of Oolacile, and she mentioned me saving her realm, which I guess comes later on. I then went up into Darkroot Gardens, got killed a few times by a band of adventurers, bought the Crest of Artorias so I could get to that area easier then took on Sif. Sif was bloody difficult, but I eventually took the bugger down. Running up to his belly really helped. No idea what the ring he dropped is meant for.
I'm now in Sen's Fortress, at the bonfire in there which I would have missed had it not been for helpful souls leaving messages.

Loved the catacombs I tackled it without a divine weapon which meant the the skeletons respawned until I took out the necromancer in the area & aye pinwheel is pretty easy for me too, can you believe the hydra is actually a mini boss? I believe Oolacile is DLC which can I only be accessed by filling certain requirements in the main game. I enjoyed the Sif fight but felt so bad after seeing its death animation. oh & yep tomb of giants is end game territory.

| So an amazing thing happened. Jas, you're probably going to hate me for this... - Spoiler:
The rest of Sen's Fortress once I reached the bonfire wasn't too bad. I didn't die to any of the mobs around here, but that giant lobbing firebombs who respawns can fuck off. The Iron Golem... man, I fluked my way through this one. I died about six times just because he kept knocking me off the edge, so I tried to see if there were any NPC summon signs around. Lo and behold, there was. Some Knight Tarkus or something... anyway, he's my second favourite NPC now (the first is because of something that happened later) as whilst I was rolling around the golem's feet like a fool, he lured it to the edge, staggered it then booted it off the building. Is... is that meant to happen? Or did I just luck out? In any case, he saved my hide. Off to Anor Londo, and the opening area wasn't too bad - although I've no clue what the massive painting is for, I'll probably wiki it later. However, those archers were brutal. I think died about a dozen times around there just because they hit me right before I got to them. Not pleasant. Eventually I lucked my way past them, and entered the keep. Is it just me or is the entirety of Anor Londo a PVP zone? Every time I went human in here I got invaded within five minutes. After clearing out the rooms of their loot, I got into the room with the fog door. Now, I won't lie - I knew what lay beyond there for me. It's difficult not to - Smough and Ornstein are probably the most infamous bosses in Dark Souls. Videos and horror stories of fighting them are everywhere when you're looking up information about the game. Jaster had posted about them in the boss thread too. It was actually Jaster's tweet where he talked about how elated he was after beating them that convinced me to install the game. I had no qualms about dying to these guys. I'd noticed a summon sign for Knight Solaire whilst I was human and exploring the keep so I'd entered this room human. Then, "you are being invaded". I panicked. I summoned Solaire, thinking I could fight this guy. But then I spotted him, with some sort of crazy looking sword in Havel's Armor. He was waiting for me down by the giants. I panicked more, and ended up sprinting past the invader and the giants into the boss room... for the very first time. I couldn't believe it when Solaire joined me - I thought he'd die to the giants outside. And man alive did he help me out. Instead of the fight being one big clusterfuck, he lured Ornstein to one end of the room, allowing me to take on Smough. I lucked out as Smough just kept repeating his ground pound, allowing me to run and score a few hits, roll out and rinse and repeat. And with both me and Solaire alive, the second phase of the fight begun. Solaire, again, helped so much here. He allowed me to both learn Super Ornstein's attacks and get him down to about two thirds of his health. Eventually, Solaire was vanquished, but he did his job. After a hairy battle with loads of close calls including me surviving being impaled with a sliver of health, I beat Ornstein and Smough... on my first attempt. I lucked out hard on those two bosses, and if it weren't for Tarkus and Solaire, there would have been no chance of me winning. But I'm chuffed to bits I managed it.

- Spoiler:
You are one lucky son of a bee sting! but congrats all the same Also Iron tarkus is considered the best NPC in the game to the point where its normal for him to take down the iron golem by himself, I manned up and took him out myself though like I have with most of the game as Im terrible at PvP. Did you examine the painting? If so and nothing happened then you missed an item on your return to the asylum but its an optional area so only go there if your curious.

| I'll return there and have a look for anything I missed. So, what's the major differences going from Dark Souls to Dark Souls II, those who are playing/have played it? |

| Well, I have played both Dark Souls games to death... (sorry) I can say with confidence that the PvP in Dark Souls 2 is way better, simply because backstabs are not the norm and the general connectivity has been streamlined very well.
My personal opinion on what works well for the first game is plenty of points in Dex and Faith and definately a 25% equip load, or whatever it takes to do the super fast roll. Of course I feel that for first time players it is more fun/challenging to make whatever decision they want, having magic makes things a little less of a burden though.
For differences between the two games I would say that Dark souls 2 has less annoying areas but makes up for it with tougher normal enemies and way, way more bosses. Gameplay feels smoother and has been streamlined in ways such as being able to fast travel from the start, improving equipment also now leaves more room for trial and error rather than giving a very limited supply of titanite (upgrade material)

Haha! Brilliant! @vidofnir I coped the majority of the time with the medium roll & that only changed for a handful of bosses/sections, there was even times when I went to fast roll it would throw me off because I wasn't used to moving so quickly. |

| I've not used the fast roll at all so far. Medium load has served me well. |

| Oh for anyone still playing the first Dark Souls, I have characters at soul level 103, 51 and 77. I think the range to summon people is 10 levels + 10% so if anyone fancies some jolly co-operation or teaming up to ruin some invaders day we can arrange something. |

| It really is a shame we all seem to be on different systems (apart from me as Buska) some GNamer co-op shenanigans would've been great.
Isn't the coop in DSII handled differently or does it still match folk by soul level? |

| I do indeed have the Prepare to Die edition! Am I not wrong in saying that 360/PC players can play together? The PC version uses GFWL and uses my Xbox Live account. |
