| I think I told most of this story in the What I Drank Yesterday thread, but here goes. When I went to butlins with some mates I got drunker than I've been for a long, long while before 6pm and, among other things I shouted "Santa is fictional and so is Jesus Christ" at some children outside a church, told one of my friends that of everyone there if one of them had to get cancer I'd pick him and spent all my money trying to win princess peach from a claw machine. The worst bit is, I remember almost everything and I was sobre by the time everyone else was drunk. |

| I remember Jay being pretty mature, relatively speaking. Whereas I was all about making enemies through tearing apart their writing. Good times. |

To the question "What would you wish for?", 13 year old me replied "To see someone walk into a lamp-post. You don't see enough of that nowadays." What a little shit I was. You really don't see enough of that these days though. |

| At my old bedsit, I used to walk through Lidl's car park to get home and there were three little bollards right at nut height. And it would be the middle of the night. And I'd be on my phone.
Every. Single. Time. |

Of course, had you been sober you would have had the depth perception to realise your princess was in another claw machine. |

Oh-hoh! Funnily enough, I had enough of my wits about me to lie to staff and get an extra go but not enough to win the dam thing or to realise how stupid the whole endeavour was. |

I'm embellishing this image in my mind by having you hammering on the glass sobbing "PEACH! I'll save you from Bowser's evil clutches! It's a-me... YOUR HERO!" before breaking down realising you can't save her, not with only 20p left. |

I made my share of enemies across the internet early on, doing much the same thing. The epiphany I had that stopped that behaviour wasn't that I was wrong, but rather, I would find horrid people who would attack some for their poor English skills, instead of tackling the argument - playing the man, not the ball. I did get over my obsession with correcting every mistake I found. It was so bad, that I would quote someone and correct their spelling, grammar and punctuation in that quote (although I am less than perfect myself). In the end it was a waste of my time and I come to terms with it. Mind you, I still refuse to communicate with anyone that uses chat speak or any other bastardisation of the English language. You have to have standards. On a personal front, I did not get the job I interviewed for last week. I apparently did very well, but they promoted from within. However, that means the successful applicant has left a new opening, which I will apply for. In some respects I am not unhappy to have missed it, as it meant working evenings and weekends. That isn't exactly my preferred working hours. |

| So, I sat down with a calendar and worked it out. I can finally get my own car on January 20th (because of the way my payday doesn't line up with paying the rent). Then I'll really start to feel like a proper adult. |

| A few years ago, someone I worked with in my first job after graduating from University (which was in Gateshead) and one of my friends from college (which was in Stockport) both commented on the same photo on Facebook.
I asked about the connection and got on with my life.
Now, a random twitter follower of my own has just tweeted about being recognised IRL by someone who appears to be the same person. Spooky. |
