| I think the transfer takes care of it but just in case you can always back it up onto your computer |

Quick question for New 3DS owners: is there a way to transfer your eShop downloads without losing all of your saves? That happened to me the last time I did a transfer in summer 2013. Quite bad then, but I've got lots more to lose now. - shanks wrote:

Aye I think shanks is right the standard transfer should take care of it but there is always a chance of any kind of data being lost, I myself lost a GB VC game when doing my transfer to my N3ds. Here's the best transfer guide I've seen to keep that from happening. http://lofi-gaming.org.uk/blog/2015/01/15/upgrading-your-3ds-sd-card/ Also starting the transfer should be the first thing you do with the new system or you could lose the pre-installed game. (you will have to re-download it after the transfer is done though) |

| Had my first chance to use the C- stick and I'm really impressed with I, appearances can be deceiving it seems. In doing so I also played Smash Bros in 3D for perhaps the longest period I have so far and it's mighty impressive, something I wouldn't have been able to do with old 3DS. All in all I'm loving New 3DS. |

| Just found out that the New 3DS XL takes a Micro SD Card. Acht. I'll need to buy a new one; will any do, or is there a limit to size? |

| Higher capacity cards than 32gb do work but you have to convert them to the FAT32 format first which just sounds like more work, especially as andy points out that 32gb is perfectly fine.

| Hope everyone's enjoying their New 3DSes! There was a midnight launch at the Guns And Mario Everywhere DIGRESSION ALERT: Not the best of running jokes but it's always written as 'GAME', so what is it short for? where I have my pre-order but I needed the sleep. I'll be picking mine up at lunch, and hoping to get everything sorted, system transfer wise, later today. |

| Decided to go buy a New 3DS XL today. It's pretty sexy. And a lot bigger than my piddly old original 3DS. The transfer between them is taking about a million years, but what little I've seen of the much hyped Super Stable 3D is actually pretty great. |

| So I noticed a little thing with the hinge on my N3ds XL you can basically slide the top screen left to right, it doesn't cause any issues as far as playing is concerned but I wonder if it's meant to be like this, I've seen a reddit thread with folk who also have same problem but others also say theirs doesn't. Here's a video showing what it's like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taMy55ABP3A |

| That 3DS transfer was bollocks. Even following instructions, it was bollocks. For whatever reason, I've once again lost all of my eShop saves, but it's also deleted four years of StreetPass progress, and it's not swapped over some Virtual Console games (no sign of Super Mario Land 2, for example). No idea why, not impressed about it either.

| It sucks doesn't it Cappa, you should be able to redownload any VC games. I've finally all linked back up games wise but like you lost Streetpass along with FC ohh and saves there goes 25+hrs of animal crossing but not played it for about 6months, so not that bothered as I would likely start that again anyway. |

| Aye. I'm not raging about the saves - I wasn't in the middle of anything, and everything had either been completed or dingied, or not started. Losing games in the transfer process is a bastard though. The Fire Emblem GBA game I got through being a 3DS Ambassador is another one that's gone missing. There's a few 'NA' slots on my redownloadable games, I'd assume Mario 2 and Fire Emblem are two of them.
~
On another note, if anyone's still in the market for a New 3DS, Argos have a decent deal; buy a console and get two free games (from a selection of four, including Miracle Mask, DoA and Street Figher IV). You also get a tenner voucher for spending over £100.

| Jaster -- I have the same thing with mine, though luckily if I don't touch the hinge it won't move left/right.
Phillips -- Sorry to hear about your loss, I'd be equally gutted about that, especially the StreetPass and saves. Which transfer method did you use, if you don't mind me asking? Hoping it's not enough case of an unreliable wireless transfer. |

Aye same, I only noticed it when I was adjusting my seating position & I accidentally nudged the top screen slightly to the side but hopefully it's non issue...........oh also another thing about the XL I can't quite get used to is the bloody clicking noise it makes when you open & close it, very odd especially when the normal N3ds doesn't do this. |

Actually... you can exceed that with certain software, I used guiFormat on my 64GB msdxc card and it works a dream. It could probably work on much higher too. |

| I lost everything during the PC based transfer despite the content being moved over to the new device. There are two NA titles on the redownload section but I can't think what they would be. To further rub salt into the wounds, I was ready to do the adult section of the Spirit Temple in OOT and the save is totally gone Mind you, I bloody love the N3DS, and Majora's Mask feels like the perfect title to launch it with. |

| New 3DS will run Unity, which will likely mean more games only running on New 3DS & not Old 3DS, possibly more cross-buy etc. |

| So, I'm now the owner of one of these things. Mainly because it cost me £8. Which, clearly, is worth more than... ah, fageddit. Made the mistake of doing the full SD card transfer as well as the system transfer, though. So my N3DS has been going at it for two hours now, and it's not even 25% of the way through the transfer. |

| NL have been interviews with some NINDIE devs all seem excited about Unity on New 3DS and sounds like it could get a port of ASA for instance and one studio has now plans to bring 5 games to the New 3DS.
