Getting out of bed is a proud achievement of mine most mornings! On a serious note, probably graduating from uni.

The General Election resulted in a reduction of the Conservatives' majority. What was the last time you did something you didn't need to to show off and it blew up in your face?

On numerous occasions now, I've been playing Injustice 2 with Andyman and after hitting him with a freeze arrow playing as Green Arrow, I get afforded an opportunity for a free hit. Of course, this cocky prick typing at you decides to try and charge up a stupidly long hit and what normally happens is Andy unfreezes and wallops me.

E3 has been and gone and regaled us with a flurry of new games to feast our eyes upon. What was your favourite thing to come from E3 this year?

ODYSSEY, YA SEE. ODYSSEY, YA SEE. ODYSSEY, ODYSSEEEEEEEY.

The SNES Mini approaches, surprising nearly nobody with its scarcity of stock or its general existence. If it could only hold five SNES games, what would be your dream line-up?

Ooh... well, Super Metroid for starters. Link to the Past is a cracker, so it can make it in. I'll go with Earthbound and FFVI because this is my SNES Mini dammit, so it's getting front-loaded with RPGs. Mega Man X can wrap it up for some more action/platforming goodness.

Ribbon Girl! Really nice design both visually and on a gameplay level. Skipping through the air feels amazing.

To make Branston Pickle Mini Cheddars more readily available to my fellow masses by insisting that more newsagents, corner shops and so on had them in stock. This possibly doesn't fall exactly under my remit.

When I got married, of course! Twas a very fine time.

The General Election resulted in a reduction of the Conservatives' majority. What was the last time you did something you didn't need to to show off and it blew up in your face?

This year I've taught the hardest units on the hardest course of what is generally accepted to be the hardest exam board, running up against maths that I never learned at uni or college. There was a part of the subject that I'd not prepared but half an hour to fill, so I tried to do this particular thing... and failed miserably.

As one should be the hero of one's own stories, I then went away and, in a Rocky style montage, read up on how to actually do it, prepared a few things, and taught the heck out of it next lesson. That was good, because it came up on this year's exam. :yes:

So I managed to fix the mistake that I made without spending a billion pounds of taxpayers' money to shore up my government. Definitely the hero of my own story.

E3 has been and gone and regaled us with a flurry of new games to feast our eyes upon. What was your favourite thing to come from E3 this year?

My top surprise was Metroid: Samus Returns, the remake none of us knew we wanted on a console that will be six and a half years old when it's released. That was my favourite thing to come from E3 this year.

Super Mario World, A Link To The Past, Yoshi's Island, StarWing and Super Mario Kart. Nintendo heavy? You bet. It was a wrench to leave out stuff like UN Squadron, Secret Of Mana and The Lost Vikings - maybe I'll do a third-party SNES Mini in a later reply - but Nintendo really were kings of their own console. No surprise.

ARMS! It's here at last, serving up some strikes and punches on Switch. Who's your favourite fighter from the game and why?

My main has been Ribbon Girl. I've only played the game with the female cast members and she was the one that clicked with me the best. Second would be Twintelle, who drinks tea and speaks French... although not at the same time, because of the dangers of the liquid going down the wrong way. No-one wants that.

Funnily enough, this game up in a conversation yesterday. I mentioned that I'm opening a restaurant at the end of the month, which the other party misinterpreted in a way that made me seem much cooler than I actually am. So my first act would be opening a restaurant.

It's gonna have to be one of the many, many times I went out drinking and instead of having enough to get nicely drunk, I drank and drank to show that I can drink more than anyone else. It probably ended with me waking up with no memory and a new injury/ stain on my carpet.

E3 has been and gone and regaled us with a flurry of new games to feast our eyes upon. What was your favourite thing to come from E3 this year?
That Devolver Conference was great satire, in my opinion, but it has to be Mario Odyssey really, doesn't it? Not even a pretty new home console Monster Hunter can touch that.

Starfox (and Starfox 2), Super Mario All-Stars (the version with World), Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter II.

Min Min! I love her manoeuvrability and her charged dragon arm, but she's also a cutie who works in a ramen shop and loves dem noodles, which I identify with strongly.

That one day when a nurse came in to assess the curvature of our spines to see if we had scoliosis. We were just getting changed back into uniform after a PE lesson when she summoned us, one by one, to stand in the middle of all of the others in just our pants. Simply no.

From 3D to 2D? What a novel and original question (important note: this is one of Jay's! ). Erm... um... ahhh... Mario Kart. I remember playing a brilliant 2D racer back in the day called Motocross Maniacs. If you kept the game to bikes and bikes alone, you could do something like that. It'd be epic. Or bruisingly poor.

The result of an advisory referendum gave the Government a clear course of action.

Miitopia was released last month. Give us a brief outline of a game you'd like to make that features Miis.

OK, so, they've been in a sports game, a one-on-one fighter, a racer, Tomodachi Life and now an RPG... and probably at least one thing I'm forgetting (it's me age, ooh me joints, etc). Let's put Miis in something where they'd be really incongruous: an FPS. A COD-style, WWII FPS, where the colourful characters are surrounded by the stereotypical endless seas of browns, muted browns and beiges.

Dr. Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focused? was finally released in Europe last month. Why was it kept from the continent for so long?

There is no doubt some piece of EU legislation that means you can't reference the Devil in a video game title. Nintendo had to spend this long secretly lobbying for a relaxation of the regs. Ruddy European Union - I'm glad we're leaving!

Subliminal messaging is found ingrained in its many brain-taxing minigames. "Can You Stay Focused?" the doctor asks, showering you with secret messages urging you to burn down your house and solve more simple arithmetic teasers.

Jesus, where to begin . . . The funny thing with me is that although I'm very loud and personable overall, my pathological need for everyone to like me makes me rubbish at talking to people I fancy. Classic example: I had a date to my year 11 prom, but was too nervous to talk to her for the entire duration of the thing. (We did date eventually, I'm not quite so bad any more.)

A wrestling game, with loads of real wrestlers in there as Miis but which grabs your mum, your nan and so on from the console's memory and constructs a comedy gimmick for them.

They thought we were pretty smart already, then 2016 happened.

Sonic Mania was released to general acclaim. Which game series do you wish would go back to its roots?
The Mana series. The classic Secret Of Mana was a stone cold classic but the tripe that followed it in the Mana name was worryingly poor in places. Children Of Mana flattered to deceive; Heroes Of Mana changed genre to RTS, a genre which I am at best ambivalent about; and Sword Of Mana flattered to deceive. Let's break out that classic gameplay once more. You could call it... Enigma Of Mana. No, no - Mystery Of Mana.

Last month we missed asking a question about the fact that the first female Doctor was announced. Why did we fail to celebrate this?
As a collective, the admin team would like to apologise for this massive oversight. indeed, Mysterious Question Setter - indeed.

There was a solar eclipse last month. What natural event do you look forward to the most?
The appearance of a rainbow. There was one hanging in the sky - just chillin', waitin' for its buds - yesterday afternoon as I left work. Thing of beauty, it was - lower curve than normal, maybe, but that just made things interesting. Rainbows are also good because they are super irregular, so spotting one is a moment.

The GNamer Podcast is officially back under a new name. What are your podcasts of choice at the moment?
Tired Old Hack, of course. I also watched the MHXX/Monster Hunter Stories demo 'cast from the Monster Mash lads on The Tube Of You a few days ago and enjoyed it as thoroughly as an MH noob could. I tried to get into 3 Minute Gamer, from our very own Darren Kerwin, but it seems that I didn't subscribe to same on The Tunes Of i, so... yeah. Better get that sorted!

Monster Hunter XX crashed onto the Japanese eShop last month. Have you ever imported a game before? If not, have you ever been tempted to import?
In a roundabout way, yes. A buddy of mine sourced an American copy of Dragon Quest V for me, which was mighty awesome of him, as I still hold that as the best RPG story I've ever experienced. I was also pretty keen on finding the I Am Setsuna cart whilst I was in Japan on honeymoon earlier this year, but it was sold out in all the shops we visited.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle came out at the tail end of last month. What video game mascot and what Nintendo franchise should be mashed together next?
Did we not have a brief thing/fling between Samus Aran and Bayonetta, almost entirely orchestrated by Dead Lemon, a while back? A Metroid/Bayonetta upmash could work irresponsibly well.

Sonic Mania was released to general acclaim. Which game series do you wish would go back to its roots?

Hmm... Fire Emblem. I miss the days before marriage, waifus and Easter Xander. I miss when it was all about the strategy and the characters weren't all one-note monstrosities ("Hi, I like to kill". "Oh, hi, I'm really shy." etc. etc.).

Well... probably because one half of the admin team hasn't watched Doctor Who in quite some time.

Still, cracking news and I'm really interested to see how they play the Doctor/companion dynamic this time round.

Up in Scotland, I look forward to a day with at least an hour's worth of sunshine.

TOH, natch, plus a couple of wrasslin' casts. Edge and Christian's podcast has been my favourite as of late.

Well, besides the aforementioned MHXX, I've never imported before! I've not really been tempted either until MHXX too.

Bubsy and Mario Party. Whenever he wins a minigame or steals a star he screeches at obscenely loud volumes "WHAT COULD PAAWWWSIBLY GO WRONG?" as Mario looks on, a single tear in his eye as he realises his party has finally been pooped on.
