| Astounded that I haven't voted for a single game that's appeared thus far. I started Skyward Sword shortly after launch, and I still haven't bothered to finish it. Strange that I wished for a motion controlled Zelda for the whole of the Wii generation, went mad over press releases, and then greeted the final product with motion control apathy. Huh. I wanted to post the image of Hitler's head in a jar from the Duff Brewery in The Simpsons here, but Google Images let me down. |

| It all ends today! Fourth Place- Spoiler:
Super Smash Bros. BrawlPoints: 56 First places: 0 You say: "Surprisingly overlooked and surprisingly underrated compared to the GameCube version. Still brilliant, and still holds up as an accessable reference to judge any fighter." "Everything Nintendo fighting it out for the sake of fun. Great with friends!" "might not be revolutionary but full of Ninty fan service." "Fighting dudes as your favourite Nintendo characters, this is the ultimate multiplayer game. If you're playing games online or in the same room this is the go to game for guarenteed fun. Bring on a Wii U version!" I say: One of the best cases of "evolution not revolution" in gaming. Chuck in everything Nintendo but the kitchen sink, shake it up in Cook Kirby's pot, and this comes out. The best present to Nintendo fans there is. Screw Sonic.Celebrity Guest Enjiki says: "This may be the low point of my career... oh no, wait, the pun comic strip. Anyway, Brawl's great because... Hey, eyes up here! What about my clothes? They fit, they don't need ironing, and they're nice and cool in the summer. And winter. Look, do you know how hard it is to find a sensible outfit with these proportions? Like I was saying, Brawl's great because I can play as Samus and fill Peach full of laser death, pretending she's that cretin Greener telling me, 'There's just no space for you in the magazine any more.' Well I had the last laugh, didn't I, WHEN IT CLOSED DOWN!? Now I have to dash: I've got an interview for a role in a Vanillaware game."
Check back at six for the top three! |

| I think I can work it out from here. My predictions: - Spoiler:
3. Mario Kart Wii 2. Twilight Princess 1. Super Mario Galaxy
We shall see. This hasn't been far off of the top ten I was predicting - I might not have expected Okami or Wii Sports to be there, possibly Xenoblade or DKCR instead. |

| Hmm, I reckon you're spot on with your top 2 predications, but I hope your third one isn't right. Doesn't feel like a top 3 Wii game to me. |

| It does seem a bit high, but I think it's been carried there by (likely) featuring in most folk's lists. I can't imagine it not being in the list somehow. Could be completely wrong, of course. Maybe something like Wii Sports Resort has sprung a surprise. |

| Surely Donkey Kong Country Returns will place over Mario Kart Wii?
Having said that, a couple of the ranks so far have surprised me. |

| I'll be dissapointed if Mario Kart Places, whilst good I wouldn't say it was top 10 worthy, I'd be devastated if it came above Galaxy or Twilight Princess though. |

| The end is nigh. Brace yourselves, ladies and gentlemen: the three finest games on the Wii, as chosen by the GNamer Forum (well 13 people in it anyway), lie beneath these spoilers. Open each one with the care it deserves... Third place- Spoiler:
Xenoblade ChroniclesPoints: 57 First places: 2 You say: "One of the best games I have played, simple battle system, engaging story and english voice acting! Oh and a great musical score." "I spent about a week of constant play on this game and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. A wonderful world full of thigs to do and places to go. If only the ending wasn't terrible this could be my number 1." I say: "Shock high entries", Jay? Here's one (unles you're The_Jaster, apparently). Not that it deserves to be a shock: as the Wii ignobly faded into the abyss of unsupported consoles, Monolith Soft lifted it up high and gave us the most epic game I've ever played, bar none. Music, combat, story: everything worked. Well, apart from the ending. Still, that was soon forgotten against the scope of the game as a whole. Celebrity Guest Matthew Castle (via ONM PM) says: "I fell in love with Xenoblade from a distance. Kittsy was reviewing it in the office and every time I looked over at the screen I'd see increasingly epic vistas unfolding. I remember being skeptical - I assumed they were pretty backgrounds, a la FFXIII - but when he jumped off the cliffs around Makna Falls and actually swam all the way to thew crashing waters, I knew this was going to be An important Game. And I was right! "I've poured over hundred hours (pitiful by some people's standards) into these hulking titans, what is probably my favoruite gaming world of all time. The scale, the ecosystem, the wealth of doodads that tease you through it; what an achievement. Factor in likeable characters, a neat twist on real-time RPG battling and the epic soundtrack - I write most of my work to it, in fact - and this is up there with Wii's best. I'd put it up there with Galaxy and Skyward Sword. If 'Project X' is even half as good as this, Wii U will be a very lucky machine indeed." Second place- Spoiler:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight PrincessPoints: 84 First places: 3 You say: "My favourite Zelda on Wii, not a fan of wolf mode but the sword fighting was peerless." "The only thing that could make it better would be a more thought-out artstyle and original campaign that steps from OoT's shadow, like Skyward Sword." "It's got its flaws, but this is a game with real heart and one of Nintendo's most defined personalities." "Nearly - NEARLY - overtakes Ocarina of Time as the "default" Ze;da." "The best Zelda, I loved the world, the characters, the story and the gameplay. I may hate motion controls but this has never spoilt my enjoyment of this game for a moment. Perfection!" I say: At least this beat SS. Some sanity is restored. You can moan about the rubbish motion controls all you want, or the ugliness, or how it's not different enough to OoT: pah. Saddle up Epona and gallop, sword drawn, across the Hyrule of the best Zelda on the Wii, and in my opinion the best Zelda there is. Definitely deserves its spot. Some might say it deserves even higher, but so it goes... Celebrity Guest Frodo Baggins says: "The best thing about leaving Middle Earth for Valinor is that here, they have discovered videogames. Not that any of them have made them smile, because of the psychological damage I sustained from sitting through the entire ending of Return of the King; but this game speaks to me. The hero Link's quest, especially displayed in gloomy brown-and-bloom-o-vision, reminds me very much of my own; the pathetic flailing to attack, of trying to get Sam Gamgee to do anything approaching competence. My only criticism is that Link finds happiness and romance at the end of his trip, which is unrealistic. He should be a quivering wreck, who sits for days hugging his knees and wishing he'd never agreed to do anything so stupid. Damn you to Hell, father." The GNamer-Voted Absolute Best Game On Wii- Spoiler:
Super Mario GalaxyPoints: 92 First places: 5 You say: "After the disappointment of Sunshine, Nintendo cut the crap and condensed the 3D platforming." "That this is still better than every other platform game on the market says everything. I’ll never accept the argument that the Wii was a poor console as it’s the home of Super Mario Galaxy." "A fantastic platformer with moment after moment of pure joy. A great set of power ups and a no Yoshi helps it pip its sequel!" "Of coures, you could argues SMG2 deserves top spot, but its more like an expansion pack. You have to play the first game first. Besides, Galaxy 1 is much better structured and draws you in like the second never does. Imagine they both came in one box." "Great plat-former, had fresh ideas and a great variety of worlds." "The only first choice for the non-willy head. Every Wii gamer needs a well-worn copy of Super Mario Galaxy." I say: It had to be this. So why am I disappointed? Because it beat its arguably technically superior predecessor? Because TP spent most of the two weeks in first place? Because it's still not as good as SM64, having scrapped any and all exploration, whereas in my view TP outshines even OoT? Probably all three. But I can see why it won. The spectacle, the music, the power-ups, the originality, the first 3D Mario after Sunshine. And some people prefer the linear approach. I can think of several more criticisms to fling its way, but there's no denying that SMG is a classic. With five first-place votes, it deserves its gold medal. Celebrity Guest God says: "1. And lo! Having been disappointed by Super Mario Sunshine and its stupid water pistol, the Lord did descend down from Heaven upon the face of the Earth. 2. And He did visit a man named Yoshiaki Koizumi; and he was greatly afeared, having directed Sunshine. 3. But the Lord said unto him, 'Be not afeared, Koizumi. I am here to bestow upon you my own idea for a platform game, that shall be hailed as the best game ever created.' 4. And Koizumi, not understanding ancient Hebrew, was much confused. And the Lord did palm His holy face and wish He'd thought of a more sensible solution to the whole Tower of Babel dilemma. 5. And the Lord did repeat Himself in modern Japanese, and Koizumi rejoiced. 6. And so it came to pass that Koizumi, as the videogame prophet of the Lord, did direct Super Mario Galaxy. And everything was as the Lord had foretold, and there was much rejoicing. 7. But there were some who complained that the camera controls were imperfect, or that the purple coin thing had been overdone, or that the linearity of the levels made it inferior to a game from eleven years ago. 8. And the Lord did say, 'There is just no pleasing some people,' and sodded back off up to Heaven to await Super Mario Universe."
Final thoughts, thanks, and what other games got momentarily. |

| A great top 3 but I personally don't get all the fuss over Twilight princess it was a great Zelda game there is no doubt about that but I have a secret to tell.....it's the only Zelda game I've traded in & no I don't regret it.
Top job balla, it was great checking this thread everyday & seeing the games revealed then all the opinions that followed, I assume you're going to update the OP with the full top ten list? |

| I think that's a fantastic top 3, might even be the order I put it in personally. As for Zelda it's the only one I've played more than once (three times) I've played LttP an extra half though as I couldn't beat it when I was young. |

| Cracking finish to a cracking poll, Balla! A pat on the back for putting so much effort in, that man. A deserving top three, and I'm surprised-but-not-surprised (given the selected ten) that Donkey Kong Country Returns didn't place at all. Where would it have ranked? |

| Let me clear that up for you, and some other odds and ends... Lower-Ranked Games (none of which got a first place vote) - Spoiler:

From tenth place to favouritest: Skyward Sword Donkey Kong Country Returns Beat the Beat Galaxy Galaxy 2 (still wins for me ) Muramasa (sob!) Okami Xenoblade Smash Bros. Brawl Twilight Princess More Special Thankses- Spoiler:
- Phillips for letting me use both his ideas: firstly the voting thread, and then the genre-division idea. Hope I did them justice!
- nupkin for being understanding when I became uncommunicative just before six o'clock on Sundays. Mostly understanding, anyway.
- Stu for advertising this on the Twitter. I was going to ask him to do it for the final week, but checked the GNamer Twitter account (at great personal cost) to find that not only had he already, he'd done it for an earlier week as well! This also goes out to everyone who tried to convince one or more people to vote: thank you for your efforts!
- Chris and Matthew for being brilliant celebrity guests. "We're not celebrities," they each cried. Well of course not: we don't want to hear what Lindsay Lohan or "R-Patz" has to say about games! Let alone Vernon "SO ADDICTED TO GAMES" Kay. Anyway, you're famous in our eyes. And, erm, sorry about the photos.
- Everyone who stuck with it. If you made the final vote (or if you voted previously but couldn't get to a computer during the crucial fortnight), I thank you for making this what it's been. To paraphrase Tiny Tim, "Shigsy bless you, every one."
Final WordsI'm well into wittering territory now, but I just wanted to quickly that I've had far more fun than I should have, doing this. I can blame part of that on loving numbers, and developing a rather-too-close relationship with Excel's conditional formatting. Another part is NGamer's sense of humour: the "celebrity guests" can definitely be attributed to Geoffrey Chaucer, Sir Alan Sugar, Charlton Heston and many others "appearing" in the magazine, not to mention "Iwata Asks". Yet another part is pure ego-stroking, although whether a project on an online forum is any reason to stroke my ego is up for debate. Regardless, it's been a blast and I wouldn't have done it anywhere else on the 'Net. The legacy of this is pretty straightforward: one person has asked to do a voting thread for the DS. I don't know when he'd like to start (the genres may need reshuffling), but I'll be among the electorate, racking my brains in an attempt to think of something "funny" to get into the comments... for a game that then won't place. So thanks to that person, and to the other person who offered to do the same! I'll leave this stickied for a week; then it can fall down the pages as Nintendo pulls their fingers out and Wii U games threads take over. We can hope, anyway. Play me off, Mario! |

| Cracking thread Balladeer - it's been a highlight of the forum for the past few months. As for the top 3, I didn't expect Xenoblades, but at least it's not MKWii. I guess I need to play it now! My top 2 match the forum's top 2, so I'm claiming the title of Nostradamus, thanks. |

| Balladeer: you absolutely did do the core idea justice. All in all, I can say that this is the best thread I've seen on NGamer or GNamer since I started using the former almost five years ago. I'm convinced nobody associated with this forum could have made a better job of this than you did. Thanks.

Can't believe Mario Kart Wii did so badly! It's not my favourite, but I still couldn't imagine it not being in the top ten. Never played Xenoblade, had Twilight Princess several times without playing it, Galaxy is a classic. |
