This, just plain classy. I've been anticipating this quiet a bit, so I was thrilled to find it had arrived today.

Absolute TUNE for the ages.
But no, seriously, I still listen to the same awful music as ever. A typical shuffle on my phone will give you Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, a track from the Mass Effect soundtrack, something from the How I Met Your Mother album, a Bowie song and then some rubbish from the charts that i heard in the club.

That video was like a fever dream.
I've been listening to a lot of CHVRCHES lately - good little band from Scotland.
A few of my favourites are The Mother We Share, Gun, and Lies.

Just converted both Lindsey Stirling albums to MP3 and downloaded all here cover & game's/movie tracks as well. So will be listening to all 56 tracks of her's, I really want to go see here when she tours Europe late this year but I don't know any one who would like to go.

So, err, a friend made the mistake(?) of introducing me to Nicki Minaj, and I've listened to very little else since, which is odd, because I normally can't stand rap.

Been listening to Royal Blood. Think Muse crossed with Arctic Monkeys and you're not far off - great stuff. Their album is well worth a listen.

Figured I'd give this thread a revival!
I've been on a bit of a prog rock kick as of late. Here's a couple of my recent favourites:
Tool - Parabol + Parabola
Tool - Forty Six & 2
Pink Floyd - Pigs
Jethro Tull - Aqualung

Okay then, I've got a fun way to do this. I'm gonna go on my phone, shuffle my music and post the first five songs that come up.

Right, done. Can't beat a bit of Tinie. Yes, this was genuinely the second song to come up. I'm okay with this, I'm really into ID right now. Yes, two songs from game soundtracks I own. This is why I never just shuffle my music at a party. And now this bastard song is in my head again.

I don't know how to do that fancy 'YouTube link in comment' stuff, so here's mine in a much more plain way.
1. Lush tune from one of my favourite ever albums. Predict that this guy will pop up once again in the next four tunes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh96MlelmJM
2. I was obsessed with this band as a grungy teenager. Still a good tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBBqjGd3fHQ
3. This is more my sort of music these days. Another very good tune - pretty unknown artist, but give it the 3:04 it at the very least deserves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4Uj8vOdoYw
4. Another band from my teenage years. Not listened to them for ages. Did all right for themselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CYfsQrNtFk
5. From my favourite album of 2014. Brilliant. Wait til it gets 2:45 in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqfVr0d8UaQ

Now I haven't put much new on my ipod in a long time but using the shuffle technique here are mine:
1. A song about an intergalactic rap battle
2. You can't beat a bit of Beastie boys and this is a fun listen & only under 2 minutes as well.
3. This is a opening track from a De La soul concept allbum about 2 guys starting/trying to get into the music business, love how the album is like one big story. (don't worry the song is only 3 minutes long not 7)
4. Everyone seemed to be talking about this at the time but I actually prefer the other song they done with Pharrell
5. Deltron once again with his unorthodox lyrics.

Yeah, sounds like a laugh. Will check out all your offerings after I've posted this.
1) Ben Howard - The Fear
Yeah, good track this. Folksy stuff with some cracking guitar. Worth a listen.
2) Mike Oldfield - Nuclear
Thought this was unbelievable when I heard it played for the MGSV trailer. Still think it's incredible now.
3) Dream Theater - Pull Me Under
More prog rock, but a bit easier to get into. I think this is Dream Theater's most well known track (it was in one of the many Guitar Heroes) and it's easy to see why. Great riffs, cracking vocals.
4) Jimmie Lunceford - Ain't She Sweet
The original swing version of the Beatles classic. It might have been in a Fallout game - it wouldn't be amiss in it.
5) Dan Croll - From Nowhere
You'll have probably heard it in an advert already. I reckon it holds up outwith the world of advertising.

Oh god yes. Absolute tune, with the MGS angle making me love it even more. Will give people's other stuff a listen tomorrow.

Keep in mind that I have every hit from the UK and USA Top 100 from 1950 to 2014 on my iTunes and something like 31,000 songs for it to choose from so any odd thing could show up. But anyway, this will give you a sense of where my musical tastes are:
1. I Wanna Go Home - Ugly Duckling [old school 80s style hip-hop from the early 2000s.] https://youtu.be/Jqr__6n8KgY
2. Montego Bay - The Allniters [ska version of the original calypso song from 1970 by Bobby Bloom, this is an Australian band from 1981 during the heyday of ska] https://youtu.be/EPKOT6P3OXA
3. I Hope I Never - Split Enz [as in Neil Finn before Crowded House, the New Zealand band and this is from 1980. It is quite the minimalist piece] https://youtu.be/ABXcIsmyLJk
4. Dashboard - Modest Mouse [Some USA indie music from 2007, which is actually where my tastes have been forever, that is in that I mainly listen to indie stuff] https://youtu.be/penvn9VL32Y
5. Same Old Scene - Roxy Music [always good to hear a little Brian Ferry, but I do prefer their more prog stuff from the 70s] https://youtu.be/vXOgQN1a7bE
Next was some Mumford & Sons, I Will Wait. I really love their stuff.

Does sound a bit of laugh, I've only got about 200 tracks on my Phone.
Threshold (8-Bit) - Brain LeBarton a 8-Bit version of a track from Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Jesus of Suburbia - Green Day
12 Minutes later I get this Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
Still Into You - Paramore
In The Sun - She & Him
There was another Scott Pilgrim song before Paramore, I don't think that's the best batch of stuff I could of played.

A lot of Toto songs at the moment (Hold The Line live, Carmen, 'Til The End...I could go on like this), Oh Yeah by Yello and Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Such great music.
Also liking The Who and more...

Mas, your music taste (or your phone's selection of music) seems to be pretty much identical to mine about three or four years ago.
That Scott Pilgrim OST is a cracker.

Mine hasn't changed in years Jay, I do add the odd thing like some Royal Blood or PVRIS but it's mainly things like Green Day, Sum 41, Blink-182, Oasis etc. I guess it's kinda similar to a older person still listing to Classic Gold on the radio as from experience in work, me & the other two guys in are mid-20s playing that sort of stuff where some of them a bit older when they put stuff on its 80s stuff.

My music taste changes pretty frequently - in the past few months I've went from some metal to some Hotline Miami inspired electro to prog rock.

I listen to a lot of hip-hop and R&B so may be in the minority here. Although a group I recommend to all is Clear Soul Forces - they have the unique angle of being geeky and cool. A bit like Wu-Tang Clan, although instead of using obscure martial art film references, they cite retro games (mostly Nintendo), sci-fi and comic books.
Their album "Gold PP7s" is great (did a little review on my blog).

Ever since seeing Imagine Dragons on that video game awards show I quite like them as well.

I'm a big fan of hip hop as well but I had never heard of Clear Soul Forces before and really like that song you linked, reminded me a lot of Jurassic 5 especially in the chorus & I'll have look into getting that album also.
