| I reckon Galaxy 2 is still coming, whilst I wouldn't place it above 1 it's still an absolutely amazing game and if it doesn't place I'll feel cheated. |

| Here's a game the Yanks love to wank - it's lucky number seven! - In seventh place...:
7th: Super Mario Bros. 3TOTAL NUBER OF VOTES: 27 NUMBER OF FIRST PLACE VOTES: 1 ZERO JONES SAYS - - Quote :
- Seeing as I got into the final issue of Nintendo Gamer saying that this was my favourite ever game, I'd better put it top! The way it expanded on what went before was mind-blowing to me at the time. So many new elements to experience and, above all, enjoy. Enjoyment is king, queen, prince and princess in SMB3. Still the best there's been, over twenty years later.
JIMBOB SAYS - - Quote :
- Nintendo went "right, how much can we squeeze into our console before we make a brand new one". And then they went batshit crazy and expanded their original idea into a super-comprehesive epic-fest.
I SAY - Distilling the best stuff from it's two prequels and putting them into a far more comprehensive experience, there's little argument that Super Mario Bros. 3 deserves it's place in our top ten. It's probably the best NES game ever to boot. So clever, so vibrant: for your first platformer (and maybe the last...?) on the list, you chose well, GNamer.

| The 2D Mario that would've made my list, it unfortunately fell during the final stages. Best 2D Mario! |

| Maybe I'd feel the same if I'd ever got past the angry sun... ...nah. 2D Mario just doesn't cut it for me. I'm still expecting to see World though. Six left, eh? That means... - 64
- World
- Galaxy
- Thousand-Year Door
...are all pretty much guaranteed to be on there. I'd imagine SMG2 will have sneaked in too... leaving a mysterious last entry. A Mario Kart? SMB? Bowser's Inside Story? I'd like it to be Sunshine, pariah though it is, but I can't see it racking up the votes somehow. ...I'll go with Sunshine, for a lack of anything else. I can't see another Mario Kart being as popular as 64 (not even the original), or SMB beating SMB3; and BIS wasn't all that, was it?

| I really hope there's not another Kart... Sunshine would be a wonderful addition though. I hope it scores highly as it's brilliant! |

| Also if I see another "it's" used to denote the possessive, I will scream. (Now watch Phillips fit half-a-dozen into his next placing for comic effect. ) |

| Let's just talk about what's been put up already. People are getting too far ahead of themselves. Thankfully, Balladeer's unwanted attempt at systematically ruining the thread and everyone's good work is incorrect. |

| Out of the 5 games we know, I've voted for 4 off them now. And there's still 6 to go will I off voted for a game in every position, doubt it as I can't see many people voting for my 9th choice. |

| 3's a good'n! I've never finished it because I haven't played it enough to get my head around the controls. They're not quite SMB, not quite SMW, and I just haven't played it enough. Its a nice, chunky game though and it makes me think the NES is going to burst.

| Didn't vote for either of today's games, Mario Kart 64 is still great but I just feel there are more enjoyable ones (although I'd probably place it 3rd in my Mario Kart list) and Super Mario Bros 3 failed to make my list but there's no denying how good it is. |

| I don't think I'm alone in saying I enjoy 3D Mazzas more than 2D ones. I did however have 2 2D Mario games on my list, SMB3 not being one of them. I had a much better time with other 2D Marios than SMB3. It's a cracker, don't get me wrong, but not my cup of tea. |

| So far I've voted for all of them except SMB3. Double Dash!! was second on my list. |

Easy! Guessing is all part of the fun, and I don't see how it ruins anything. I seem to remember you trying to predict the top three in my thread. - JayMoyles wrote:

You certainly are not. Of the five platformers I voted for, four were 3D. |

| How can some of you guys not of vote for SMB3 it's the best 2D mario apart from Yoshi Island (which we decided isn't a Mario game), so yeah SMB3 is the best 2D mario platformer. |

| Because the best 2D Mario isn't a scratch on the worst 3D one. Also the sports games are a bit more fun than 2D Mario. |

| I'm not with you there, Andyman. Not any more. The worst 3D Mario is 3D Land... |

| I've never played SMB3, at least I don't think I have. I didn't include any 2D Mario platformers in my list, purely because I've never got in to the older, classic ones. |

Because it's a subjective list. Looking at it objectively, you could really feasibly say SMB3 is the best 3D Mario, but at the end of the day we're all opinionated and, well, speaking for myself I had much more fun with other 2D Marios than SMB3. |

| I can appreciate both of today's games. Both made my list, though SMB3 for me was my tenth vote. Great game, but one that frustated me far too much towards the end.
Also: I'm a pretty big fan of 3D Land. It had a lengthy list if flaws, but it was still a fun game. |
